Being invited to graduation had certainly come as a surprise to Orwell, he had never been to one in his life and though he'd been at school a little while now, enough that a few graduations had happened during his time, this was the first that he'd be attending. He was pretty certain that the headmistress would be against his attendance, given he did have a propensity to be against school organised this that conformed with society and really a graduation ceremony in Orwell's mind was just that, churning out another block of students just ready to ease themselves into the cogs of the capitalist machine, but Orwell, had some sense, he knew that for those graduating it was far more than what he accused it of being and he he had enough sense to never interrupt or cause havoc at such an event. He could talk about it all he wanted, about how it was just a capitalist thing, but he would never actively ruin someone's day over it. Perhaps at his own graduation he could do something, but not this one that he had been invited to, that he was sure that Jean had invited him to.
Orwell had even made an effort for the event, the clothes he wore, though a little big on him, given that they were Archie's were formal, suited towards this event, after all his dirty jeans and worn t-shirt hardly suited such a formal occasion, despite the fact that Orwell did think it ridiculous that he had to conform in such a way. The king of the flowers did still stand out, given that his hair was multi-coloured, for the pride celebrations, but he didn't mind. The attention was hardly on him. He took a seat with Archie, holding the boy's hand, and leaning into him slightly as the headmistress started. it was strange for him, the teen who had never expected or been expected to attend school would be graduating in the following year, and while he obviously had some hang ups about school, and the way schools were run he was happy to attend one, he was happy to have met Archie who had encouraged him to attended, were it not for him, Orwell knew he'd still be within his community, and rather than pursuing all of the interests that entered his mind, whether political, magical, or sociological, rather than creating a school club that hosted it's third pride celebration and rather than excelling academically, he would be working, unaware of the host of opportunities that had sprung from him leaving the community. He still firmly believe in their values, in their teachings, but he felt that his time at school further helped him, allowed him to be certain, to know how to argue.
The teen applauded at the speeches enjoying both, he applauded as each name was called up, giving an extra large cheer for Jean, given that he was surely the one to have invited him and Archie. It was odd to the ravenclaw to think that soon they would be doing that, something that had never seemed like it would ever happen in his life, and while he knew his parents would be uninterested in attending his own, Orwell could easily admit he was looking forward to it. Once it ended he just leaned into Archie further and pressed a small kiss to his cheek, he knew come his own graduation, their graduation, he would be thanking Archie for him even being there.
