Graeme had completed his first apparition lesson and his mind was reeling from it all, he loved Hogwarts and he loved being at the school but the ability to apparate opened doors to the seventeen year old which had been long closed. The teen had not intended to go to the quidditch pitch in the evening having gone in the morning but the lesson had left him with a feeling in his mouth which could only be solved with coming to the quidditch pitch, he was happy at the school, he was happy with his girlfriend Maya and he would change very little about his experience at the school, he had worked so hard in the classes for his OWLs, but his NEWTs didn't mean much to him, they were a fall back in case something went wrong in his quidditch but the teen felt confident that it wouldn't and it wasn't like he needed NEWTs to play professionally. A few months before he'd selected which team he wanted to play for, it hadn't been his favourite team, but he had decided it would be the right team for him and the more time he spent reading about them the more he loved them and of course the teen expected to play for his country at one point, but currently he was just stuck at school feeling like this year was going to be important.

The boy was sat in the hufflepuff stands looking out at the pitch, his broom and gear sitting beside him as he looked over the pitch, there were a few students flying around the pitch but the air was still and silent, he looked out to the distance and was graced with a sight he'd never gotten used to a lack of what he'd be able to see from his old home. Graeme had been supposed to go to Hogwarts in Scotland that had been where his dad had gone and intended him to go, but his mother had decided to send him to New Zealand with his grandparents, his grandfather had died a couple of years back and he knew his grandmother was heading the same way, they had never been able enough to handle Graeme, it had been a good thing he'd been able to be at school most of the year. Graeme had never understood it, the thinking, the logic, his grandparents had always had more money for him and his school stuff, his mother and him had never been poor but the school expenses like books, robes and other things and then all the other costs just weren't covered with her salary, so with his grandparents money he had been sent to New Zealand to study there, it had apparently been easier than sending the money over. Graeme tried to not question it, but as a sixth year who'd arrived in New Zealand when he was ten years old and only returned home once in that time at the end of first year, he missed it all.

Graeme missed so many different parts of his old life, he missed his mother more than anything, he missed seeing her in the morning, or eating breakfast with her, he missed being able to go to the shore or visit the town of Portree with her, he missed being able to drag her to the fairy pools when it was a nice enough day and she didn't have work so that they could have fun. He missed the sound of her voice and the smell of her good scottish cooking. Graeme missed being understood by people, he missed not having to dull his accent or actively avoiding using words so he'd be understood, he missed the mountains and the hills, he missed the red Skye sunset and the long bright summers nights. Graeme wanted to go home and he wanted to go home soon, he knew that getting the apparition licence was his ticket out of this country and back home, but Graeme also knew that if he went back to Scotland at the end of sixth year he wouldn't come back to school which was his current problem. He was stood in front of a forked road, between the life he had in New Zealand, with school, the quidditch team and his beautiful girlfriend Maya and his home country and everything he'd left behind. He wanted both of these things, he wanted to be able to be at home, see his mother, to play quidditch and to have Maya by his side but that wasn't the easiest thing to do nor could he see that ever working out in his favour at his age he could not have all of it. One thing was certain Graeme wanted to go home more than he wanted to stay at school, but despite the call of everything he'd left behind there were still so many elements at this school he wasn't ready to leave, which was why he sat looking out at the fields, silently mulling this decision and wishing the answer was just written on the grass in front of him, the future was at his feet he just needed to pick his path.
