Liusaidh arrived at the valentines day dance. She had always come to events and seen other people get paired up with others increasingly in her mind all of the other people within her year group were obsessed with dating and having partners, and really Liusaidh did not understand the appeal of any of it. People were so dull when together, her brother was a testament of that, his wife while of high status was boring and he wasn’t the same fun kid he had been when they’d been growing up. Liusaidh made her way into the hall and grabbed a drink before settling down in a chair at one of the tables and just silently both watching and judging all the other people in the hall dancing.

Indi felt slightly suffocated by the theme of the Valentine's dance. She wasn't a huge fan of the day but she didn't exactly hate it either. She thought most romance was dumb but she wasn't about to get in people's way if they wanted to celebrate their idiotic decisions. She had decided to come to the dance anyways but mostly because sitting alone in her dorm seemed like the worse option compared to being bombarded by pinks and reds and roses and hearts. Indi made sure to grab a few snacks before getting a good look at the crowd. Eventually she spotted Liusaidh sitting alone and she watched curiously. She didn't know too much about her captain outside of her obnoxiousness but she was captain so Indi figured it couldn't hurt to get to know the older girl a bit better. "Why do you look like someone transfigured your drink into slime?" Indi asked as she sat down. Getting to know her didn't mean she had to be nice exactly.

Liusaidh wasn't sure why Indira came over to her, their relationship thus far had been entirely on the pitch and usually always trying to one up the other. So she frowned a little at the girl as she sat down with her and then looked back out at the crowd, "Ah dinnae know why folks insist on gettin' together," she replied with a little shrug, "Nothin' more borin' than havin' tae slow dance," there was no jealousy on her words, if anything there was more confusion as to why anyone would want to do that.

Indi took a bite of one of the pastries she had grabbed before sitting down and chewed slowly as Liusaidh spoke. She had never considered how strong the older girl's accent was until now as she tried to have a conversation with her. But she surprisingly agreed with everything she said. "I don't get it either." she said with a shrug. "Maybe it makes them feel better about not being able to hold a coherent conversation?" she suggested. "They don't have an original thought so they dance to avoid having to actually talk to each other."

Liusaidh was almost a little surprised that Indira agreed with her, she'd have been convinced she'd have only quidditch in common with the girl. She scoffed a laugh at the statement, thinking it probably very true that quite a number of them wouldn't be able to hold a coherent conversation. "Very true," she said, "Doesnae really help that none of them can dance," she added, looking between the different people in the room. The different pairings and dancers.

Indi was pleasantly surprised to find she found the older Slytherin to be much easier to talk to than some of her peers. Maybe there were tolerable purebloods after all. She couldn't help but laugh about none of them being able to dance. She hadn't expected to find anything Liusaidh said to be funny but she did. "They do look a bit like shuffling penguins." she said and tossed her head to the side to watch a particularly awkward couple. "And that's supposed to be romantic?" she scoffed.

Liusaidh laughed lightly at Indira's comment, "Aye they do," she followed where Indira was looking and had to tilt her head a little at it. It was ridiculous, truly baffling to her that anyone would enjoy that kind of dancing. "Ah guess," she didn't get it, and got the impression that Indira didn't much either. "Look at that couple," she pointed to an equally awkward couple where it seemed they were standing on each other's feet, "Imagin' getting dressed up just tae have yer feet stood on," Liusaidh laughed lightly.
