First Ever School Pride

Rebecca walked alongside Dexter, begrudging her friend and the Headboy by accompanying him to the Pride thing in the great hall. Rebecca didn't much like crowds, or people in general really but she had no specific dislike of one group. She disliked all equally and only because she disliked people. She supposed it was nice for people to have something to look forward to, but she didn't understand why she had to accompany the head boy for it. Why could not it be Rhiannon, the head girl. Though Rebecca did consider Dexter to be her friend and she supposed that was indeed the reason. Currently she was sporting black vines across her face, that appeared as if they were moving as she breathed. The bright green flower in the centre of her cheek bloomed with her breath and closed as she inhaled. She enjoyed the way she did that. She looked over at the face painting table as it was pointed out to her and sighed slightly. She did want to help she guessed and she nodded at Dexter before making her way over. "Need help?"

Professor Kingsley nodded her head, her gaze filled with curiosity as she watched the Ravenclaw run off. Her attention soon went to the pamphlets, noticing that he had quite the array of information here. She'd opened a leaflet on the table and quickly scanned it, closing it when the boy returned holding out two flower crowns. Cyndi smiled, accepting the items and quickly putting one on. "Thank you. You really didn't need to. I'm happy to support this" she stated easily, a hand moving to her belly. The woman was about to continue when one of her colleagues appeared. The woman wasn't exactly happy with the man, and as he moved in to speak with Orwell, the professor took it as her cue to leave. "Enjoy the rest of your day" she waved goodbye to the fourth year as she headed off, making a round of the Great Hall before heading for the doors.

While he'd heard about the School Pride occurring in the Great Hall, Soren intended to hide away in the opposite end of the castle until it was over. Similarly to how he was with other events, such as the Yule Ball, Halloween, Quidditch matches or any parties, the Hufflepuff had hopes to avoid it like the plague. As much as he wanted to go, and wished he could enjoy himself and have a good time like everyone else, he wasn't comfortable in such large crowds of people, with bright lights and loud noises. He didn't feel safe enough in that kind of environment, though admittedly he didn't feel safe anywhere. So, when Desideratus had appeared out of nowhere to take him to the Pride, Soren initially resisted, but there was no hope in stopping him. His feet had completely left the ground a few times in his friends enthusiasm.

Entering the Great Hall, a sense of uneasiness settled in his stomach as he was bombarded with colour and sound. He turned, to respond to Des with a disapproving shake of his head, but he'd disappeared. Before the Hufflepuff could even begin to panic, his friend had returned, and he felt the flower crown lowered onto his head, before being dragged off once more. Two Ravenclaws were doing face-painting, something Soren had never experienced before, but had always really wanted to while growing up. He wasn't one to ask, but with Des by his side, there was no need. In no time, his face was covered in an array of flowers, spots and a small dragon or two. The paint, now dry, felt odd on his skin, but it had lifted his spirits a little and by now he was smiling, more at ease.

The Gryffindor led him off one more time, now onto the dance floor. Soren wasn't much of a dancer, especially in front of other people, but as Des told him he looked great, he mimed his thanks and focused his attention solely on the Gryffindor boy. "Ohk-k-kay." He murmured as he allowed his arms to be taken, swaying in time with the upbeat music. It wasn't as bad as he'd feared, as long as he had his friend with him, he felt safe.

As he worked on the badger's face paint he realised that perhaps the face painting would be one of the busier parts of this day and it was definitely going to be that, but the Ravenclaw wasn't phased by it, he just worked hard on the badger and then when that was done moved on to the other lion just as another boy appeared, an older student, the boy smiled and nodded, thinking it would be good to have an extra pair of hands to help him out with this, there was no denying that perhaps this would be great, so he nodded, "Yeah, that would be great thanks, I'm Theo," he took a small break and then held out a slightly paint filled hand to the older boy, before going back to the face painting he was currently working on, finishing with the rainbow nose, just as three others appear. Two boys and an older girl, which Theo recognised from his house, he noticed just as he was about to take the older girl, that another person arrived, an older girl to offer her help, he nodded at her, "Yeah, I'm Theo, you can take her," he said, before then motioning for the older Ravenclaw to take boy who'd spoken, while Theo worked on the boy who'd said nothing, making the spots and flowers be rainbow coloured and really just painting the silent boy's face with ease and a smile clear on Theo's face. He took his time, but was finished in no time and just watched as they like the twins ran out to the where others were dancing. Tholomyes was ready to paint another face, and just so happy people had come to this.

Graeme had always understood the importance of the LGBT movement but being straight he had never associated himself with it, he didn't mind it happening, but he'd never been given the opportunity to just enjoy any part of it, rather he was just happier spending his time being unaffected by it, because he was unaffected by it. He had absolutely nothing against it, but until this day it had never factored in his life. The Hufflepuff teen was still on a high from the last quidditch game, and his mused up, slightly grown out hair was carelessly moved away from his eyes, he surved the hall and found that the amount of people in it, brought him a lot of joy, he spotted Maya quickly and wandered over to her where she was getting a flower crown, he just grinned and wandered over to her, "I'll take one too?" he asked brightly, to Lydia and the boy who were handing them out before grinning at Maya, "You want to go dance?" he knew they'd done a lot of dancing over the last few days, but once he had the crown, he pushed his hair and then put the flower crown out with a smile, he would do whatever she wanted to at this Pride, knowing that when given the opportunity it was important to stand with his fellow students.

Lydia grinned happily when Felix said he was happy to help, and she focused on the task at hand, but was smiling brightly at him, clearly very pleased that he had agreed to help. It was nice to do something with him, admittedly the last time they'd spent time together she had really enjoyed his company and she was really enjoying it now. The girl looked to the excited first year boy who asked for two, and then grabbed two to hand to him, just smiling as he then ran off, "A badger with a rainbow nose," she said with a smile, oh this was perhaps going to be a strange day but really, she could not be happier with it. The teen then smiled at the girl Maya, and subsequently her boyfriend before also giving them flower crowns passed to her from Felix, "If we can get someone to take over, maybe we could go dance at some point," the girl suggest to Felix with a small smile, hoping he would want to do that. Hoping also that at some point someone else could take over from her.

As more people arrived, Orwell grew happier and happier about the event, he knew that it was important for Hogwarts to have this event, and he was more than happy for the Wild Patch to be leading it, he also thought it would be good in future LGBT+ pride events to encourage the other student groups to take part, Orwell had thought about going to them to offer it, but he hadn't been able to. Not enough time, the planning for this though for next time would be even better, he would succeed in raising awareness, solidarity and visibility. The teen smiled at Professor Kingsley as she said that she was happy to support the cause, "We're happy for the support, it's important," the teen told her, just as Professor Pendleton, whom he knew from his potion classes, came up to him at the stand and offered his congratulations, "Thank you Professor," he waved goodbye to Professor Kingsley before turning his attention back to the other professor, "I'm happy to do my bit, and this wouldn't be possible without the work of the Wild Patch," the teen added, not wanting to take full credit for it, he was merely the organiser, this was for all of them. The king of flowers looked up as another older student greeted him and offered his help, he looked down at his table of information, "You could maybe give out these leaflets I made," they were about the importance of a Pride event like this, just simple information about the Pride movement and why it was important for the school to have one, "Or, you could hand out these rainbow cookies?" he offered with a grin, holding out the plate, happy that people offering to help, that there was more than just Theo doing the face painting, that there were people dancing. Just that it was good that people had attended, he was all about helping the movement and he was so proud of them all.

It was impossible not to have heard about the Pride event that would be taking place in the Great hall. The Gryffindor thought it was a fantastic idea, nothing of the sort had happened in the six years she had been there and the girl was looking forward to it. She wondered as she made her way down from the common room if she would see Willow there, it was exactly the kind of event the Ravenclaw would go to. Skye had been keeping a low profile lately although not by choice, her time with Willow had been slashed because of the curfew so she was happy to be going to an event that in all likely hood she would run into her. Much to her dismay, Skye didn't own anything rainbow coloured, which possibly meant rainbow was the only colour she didn't have stocked in her trunk. She was a little self conscious about her choice of outfit in the end, her jeans of choice maybe considered a little too tight by some and she just hoped no one would have anything to say. Once inside the hall she noticed two third years handing out flower crowns so she decided to make that her first port of call. "Hi, I'll take a flower crown," She smiled at the two as she took it and placed it on her head.

Reuben and Rudolf danced until the former began to worry about his cocktail sausages making a reappearance with all the exertion. They'd accumulated a number of stares with their inappropriately chosen ballroom waltz, but by the end of it they were laughing too hoarsely to mind.

Reuben collapsed, exhausted, into a chair at the edge of the room, still grinning wildly as he watched his brother strut ridiculous moves by himself and occasionally, when he found the energy, cheering him on. Perhaps it was silly and fatuous, but as the Hufflepuff caught his breath, he couldn't help but wish the party would never end. Everybody (more or less) was smiling joyously, and the mundane troubles they fostered during the day had been cast aside whilst the beat of the music continued to infect them with happiness. If there could have been a party at the castle every evening, Reuben would never have tired of the smiles.

It was sat there that the boy gave his first full consideration of how very much he liked it when others were happy.

Archie was as excited as a kid in a candy store at this event. He noticed Isaiah's arrival almost immediately but he ignored the other boy at first and continued to run around and take photos, loving the way his makeshift cape echoed his movements. He wanted to capture the atmosphere of the hall as it slowly became more crowded with students and professors alike, so he could remember how amazing the colours looked and how many people showed up in support of diversity. He was so proud of Orwell, because he was the only kid who could manage to pull an event like this together in such a short amount of time. He loved his best friend so much, and events like this that were all about supporting others and raising awareness only affirmed to Archie that he could not ask for a more perfect person in his life. It was after people had begun dancing and the hall was buzzing with pride that Archie finally decided to approach Isaiah. The gryffindor had taken enough photos of the event to remember the way the hall gleamed with every colour of the rainbow before everyone arrived and figured he could have a small break and resume taking photos whenever he wanted.

He pulled the leather camera strap around his neck and shifted the camera to sit on his hip as he ran over to the other boy, not bothering to greet him with words and instead greeting him by pushing their bodies against the wall and pressing their lips together. Archie was excited, over energized and completely caught in the moment so he did not give the affection a second thought after he pulled away. "You need to look more festive. Let's get some paint on that face!" He exclaimed, wrapping one of his hands around Isaiah's arm and pulling him in the direction of the face painting stand before noticing the long line and rapidly changing his decision. "Wait, no. Flower crowns instead!" He announced before pulling Isaiah's arm in the opposite direction where he realized there was also a small line for the flower crowns. His face scrunched into a frown but quickly changed back to a wide smile when he figured out a solution. He pulled his own flower crown from the top of his head and placed it on Isaiah's head instead, not taking no for an answer as he adjusted the other boy's hair slightly so the flowers wouldn't get caught and fall out. "There. Perfect." He concluded.

Isaiah watched as various people entered the room, it was funny to see so many people gathered at once for a club organised event, he had to hand it to them, they'd managed to pull this off, and he was prouder than anything to be a part of it. He wanted his family to know about this event, and for him to go home and be able to proudly tell them that he was happily Bisexual, that he was certain of this, and no longer was his mind filled with doubt about it, he'd been uncertain for so long and it was good to just be able to know. The teen was surprised when in front of him now stood an energetic Archie and then all of a sudden Archie's lips were on his, and Isaiah kissed back with a delay reaction, but missing the feeling the moment the other boy pulled away. Isaiah allowed himself to be lead by Archie through the hall, eventually stopping for flower crowns, and it seemed he was impatient because instead of just waiting a few moments the boy placed his crown on Isaiah's head and adjusted it slightly. Before smiling at Archie as if to say, how did it look, "You are best friend with the guy who organised this, surely you don't have to queue for a flower crown," he told him with a small smile, but happy to now be wearing a flower crown, "I want to dance," he told Archie before this time being the one to grab his hand and pulling him out towards where others were dancing, getting them out to an empty spot and just moving to the music smiling at Archie as he did so.

After the forbidden forest protest the previous semester, Jonathon was weary to let the Wild Patch Club host another event. He didn't know if an LGBT event would be a flop or if it would serve it's purpose of showing pride and raising awareness. But the Professor managed to swallow the weariness he had, and was pleased to see the Great Hall crowded with students and staff when he eventually showed up with a cup of coffee in one hand. The decorations and the happy atmosphere of the hall brought a smile to Jon's face. He quickly approached Orwell, deciding to congratulate him on the success of the event instead of standing to one side of the hall and observing the hustle and bustle on his own. "Good morning." He greeted, nodding towards the Ravenclaw boy. "This is a very good thing that you're doing. I'm sure you're helping more people than you know with this." Jon waved his hand, gesturing to the hall around them. He wasn't gay himself, but he did consider himself to be an LGBT ally and was not about to change how supportive he was to this cause. His brother was bisexual and his two best friends were gay, he knew they would have loved to have resources and events like this to attend when they were younger. It made Jon question why an event like this had not been hosted in the castle before, though he quickly pushed the thought to the back of his mind and returned to making conversation with Orwell. "So, your hair's rainbow for today? What colour are you going to dye it next?"

Archie shrugged. "Privilege that comes with avoiding queues is exactly what Brock wants to fight. If I wanted another flower crown I expect to wait in line with everybody else, not to be treated specially because I'm part of the club." The rainbow pride flag painted on his cheek and the real flag tied around his neck showed that he supported the cause enough for Archie to give the flower crown away as he pleased, without worrying about getting another one at the stand. He was happy to give his crown away and happy that the crown suited Isaiah's brunette hair a lot more than it did Archie's own mess of blonde hair. The Gryffindor was about to open his mouth and tell Isaiah so but he was stopped in his tracks as it was his turn to be pulled in a different direction towards where everyone else had started dancing. Archie smiled, forgetting about the flower crowns entirely as he let his body sway to the music and his eyes dart around the hall as he continued to take the atmosphere in. He waved to Orwell across the hall and smiled. Dancing with Isaiah again reminded Archie of the time they had danced at the yule ball. He couldn't help but comment on it. "Are you thinking about the yule ball, too?" Archie asked, his eyes returning to Isaiah's. He thought it was funny how much their dynamic had changed since that night and he wanted to know if Isaiah found it just as funny.
