"Good morning 5th year, I trust you are all doing well." He took a small sip of his hot coffee before continuing, "Like last week, you have a quiz to complete, it should be slightly more difficult than the last, but, I still would hope that you have very little problems with it. However, unlike last week this is not an open book quiz so, close all your books and put them to the side."

1. What is the charm you use to clean things?

2. Alohomora does what?

3. What charm do you use to repair things?

4. What charm repels an object?

5. Homenum revelio does what?

Once it appeared that all the students were done, Professor Haden raised his wand and summoned all the quizzes to once again make a neat pile upon his desk. He smiled at the class as he got to his feet and while sipping the tea went to stand in front of the desk, "Today, class, we will be learning, the very interesting spell, Duro" He looked at the students, attempting to see if they knew what he was talking about. "Duro is the latin for, 'To harden, or solidify', which I'm sure you all know already, since, I trust you all did the reading" He flashed a small smirk to the students, before continuing, "The spell basically means that you can turn whatever target you have in front of you into stone. I will warn you now, while you are in theory capable of preforming this spell on a living thing, it is strictly forbidden within school walls and pretty forbidden outside them too, especially if the living thing is a person. Should you be careless enough to not listen to me, when I say how strictly forbidden it is," He took a small sip of his tea, before continuing, this was a fairly boring point of the lesson, but it was crucial. "if a person is under duro for too long, it can kill them. It could take hours, or minutes. You have been warned" While Misha did not believe that any of the students would cast the spell on others, he had to say it. At least if they then did, he could not be put at fault. Since he had told them, with this said, he took a moment to take one last sip of his tea before placing it on the table.

"To cast Duro, you must point your wand at the object and say it firmly. To reverse the spell use Finite" To demonstrate, he produce a red cloth from his pocket, then threw it into the air, and with a flick of his wand he stated, "Duro." The cloth suddenly seized up, turning into grey stone and in no time had clunked to the floor, Misha had to step back slightly to avoid it hitting his feel. "I do not wish you all to throw your cloths up in the air as I have done- I don't want there to be any injuries- so" he waved his wand, and clothes of varies colours flew out, and landed in front of the students. One for each of them. "Practice upon the desk, and if you can, try not to turn your desks to stone" The professor paused, as he felt his voice wane slightly, he clear his throat before starting back up, "The point of focus is the cloth. You can leave once you have turned your cloth to stone and successfully reversed it. And before you all get very interested in practicing, remember to read the chapter on Reducto for next week. Begin!"

RP the lesson, Attendance length post is fine
It is not necessary to do the quiz, it is extra credit!

In the end, Savannah had decided to go to the dance and it had been the right choice to make. She had really enjoyed being able to go to the dance, and enjoyed being able to have some fun. She knew this and all the semesters beyond this were going to be difficult, were going to be challenging, so having a bit of time before hand was going to be good. She had a good time, and hadn’t because of it fallen at all behind, really she felt like she was miles ahead of everyone else in the year anyway, so one night wasn’t going to affect her much. She was getting her notes and book together and then headed out of the dorm room to class.

Savannah walked into the charms classroom and took her usual spot in the room. Her gaze moved to the professor at the front of the room as the man got started. Though this week, like the week before they were to do a quiz first. She took it and filled it out with ease. It wasn’t difficult. Then when everyone was done they moved on, focusing on the important element, the actual spell. Duro. Not unlike the transfiguration spell they had learnt, but this time a charm. She listened as the professor spoke and nodded along before they were able to just get started. She grabbed a piece of cloth and pointed her wand at it, casting, ”Duro,” she had to do it a few times before it worked and then she was able to pack up and head out of the room.

Cassius Styx entered the Charms classroom, sat down in his seat and waited for Professor Haden to start the lesson. Once he did, they had to do a quiz. He swiftly read through the questions, finding them elementary at best, and filled in the answers with a flick of his quill. He leaned back in his chair, waiting impatiently as Professor Haden collected the quizzes with a wave of his wand. Cass glanced around the room, noticing some of his classmates furrowing their brows in concentration while others seemed as nonchalant as he felt. When Professor Haden began the lesson on the Duro spell, Cassius perked up slightly, intrigued by the prospect of learning something potentially more challenging than the basic spells they had covered so far.

Professor Haden let them know of the Latin background of the name. Cass smirked knowingly; of course, he had done the reading. He listened with casual interest as Professor Haden warned against using the spell on living things. He knew better than to try that because it was basically murder. When Professor Haden demonstrated the spell on a cloth, Cass watched with keen interest as the fabric turned to stone and fell to the ground with a clunk. His eyes followed as Professor Haden conjured more cloths for each student, instructing them to practice on their desks. He took out his wand and started to practice. The spell took him two tries to turn it to stone. He waited until Professor Haden dismissed them, so he got up and left.

Terror sat in his seat in the Charms classroom, focusing on Professor Haden as he introduced the quiz for the day. He mentally prepared himself to rely solely on his memory for the answers, as this quiz was not open book. Once he finished, Terror set his quill down and watched as Professor Haden summoned the quizzes back to his desk. The Slytherin students were known for their dedication to studying and being prepared, and Terror was no exception. He awaited the start of the practical lesson, intrigued by the mention of the Duro spell. As Professor Haden began to explain Duro, Terror listened, his interest increased. He knew the Latin roots of the word meant "to harden" or "to solidify," aligning with its intended effect.

Professor Haden's warning about the dangers of using Duro on living beings resonated with him. Though it was interesting to learn about such powerful magic, Terror understood the serious consequences of mishandling it - which was on his mind. When Professor Haden demonstrated the spell on a red cloth, turning it into stone with a flick of his wand, Terror observed closely. The cloth fell to the ground with a thud, now rigid and grey. As colored cloths were distributed to each student, Terror received his and focused on the task at hand. He worked to turn it to stone. Soon, the cloth stiffened, transforming into stone. Satisfied with his execution, Terror had it reversed. Content with his own progress, Terror packed up his belongings and prepared to leave once Professor Haden dismissed the class.

Valentine’s celebrations had happened and Ruto was quite happy with herself after participating in them. She didn’t have a date or a significant other, however was beginning to appreciate the importance of love, and helping deliver the roses was actually quite fun. It gave her an excuse to be prancing about outside, and definitely gave her something to keep her mind off the fact that she didn’t have anyone to share the day with. It was time for classes now however, and so Roo packed her belongings in her backpack and headed to them.

Roo entered the charms classroom and took her usual seat within the room where the professor had a short quiz waiting for them again. Roo filled this one out to the best of her ability and then reverted her attention back to the front of the classroom so she could learn a new spell. They were going to be learning to turn things into stone, which reminded her of her Transfiguration class. She took her wand out when instructed and pointed it at the pink piece of cloth that appeared on her desk in front of her. It took a couple of tries, but Ruto managed to get this spell quite easily. She thanked the professor before leaving the class at the end of the lesson.

Leah had been a little distracted since Valentine’s day. Dancing with Savannah hadn’t been what she expected to do with her night and she hadn’t been able to quite shake off the weird feelings it stirred inside her. Seeing her in class didn’t really help. As she walked into the charms classroom she did her best to keep her eyes down until she was in her seat and this time the quiz waiting for her was a welcome distraction.. She had been too lost in her own head to do much studying recently so she wasn’t as confident as she turned it in but was ready to focus on the spell of the day. She watched as the professor demonstrated the spell and then it was their turn with the pieces of cloth they had all been given. Leah focused on perfecting the spell and got pretty good at it, even tossing up the cloth ever so slightly and watching it thud to the ground.
