Professor Haden leads the two contestants to the stage, appointing them into the north or south part of the stage. He tells the rules as well as the point system. He walks off the stage and orders the duel to begin, as he keeps a watchful eye.

OOCOut of Character:
All right, make sure that you use the spell list for guidance. No board rule breaking is acceptable. Have fun! I have a copy of the code that you should use with every post. Remember, when you are knocked out, unable to shoot anymore spells, you lost. And if you run out of points, you lose.
The duel begins now. If someone doesn't post after 24 hours, they are disqualified.

Hemi was up against someone called Arnost Zhefarovich II. He wasn't exactly sure who Arnost was but he did recognise the surname. That surname had been mentioned around Hogwarts and its uniqueness made it memorable. As a matter of fact hadn't the boy who tried to kill a muggle born last year had the same surname? Yep. Hemi, a muggle born, must be dueling the relation of some muggle hating maniac. Well wasn't that just dandy!

Anyway, Hemi was not one to back out of a fight, no matter how many murders his opponent may, or may not, be related to. He walked confidently into the chamber with a funny sort of grin on his face as he met his opponent. "Good luck on this duel. I think you’re going to need it.” He said, adding a competitive flare to the game which made it that bit more interesting for the Gryffindor. He stepped back a few paces then cast his first spell, "Stupefy!"

Arnost Zhefarovich II took his place on the stage, before bowing to his opponent, a student in Gryffindor he did not know. The boy's words were rather competitive, which only made a genuine smile creep across his lips. Arnost called out, "I think so! Dueling isn't exactly my strong suits! Good luck!" Arnost figured that he definitely would not be winning today, but he was in it for the fun. Plus his relative, his uncle to be precise, pressured him into this club anyway. Hearing the spell, Arnost quickly cast Protego to stop the spell, before sending out a verbal Rictusempra.

Hemi shrugged at the boys response, he could be bluffing, but probably not. Duelling wasn't exactly a popular sport at Hogwarts and it was quite likely that he wasn't any good. Hemi didn't duel either, but he did have a small pool of spells he had practiced enough to see him through this tournament. He wanted to win, Hemi didn't handle defeat well and was a sore loser even when it came to things others wouldn't consider competitive. "Protego" He cast, absorbing the Tickling Charm. Satisfied with his defence, Hemi fired his next offensive spell, "Expelliarmus!"

Arnost saw that his spell was swiftly absorbed. Right, he would have to really try. This guy was competitive, but Arnost was not. Arnost threw up another Protego to protect his wand from flying out of his hand. "Stupefy!" Arnost spoke his next spell, with a jet of red bursting from his wand.

Hemi was getting annoyed that he wasn't seeing immediate results from his offensive spells and he was becoming impatient, wanting more and more to be named champion of this duel. He blocked the jet of light sent his way with some effort before spending a moment to mull over what his next attack would be. "Petrificus Totalus" He decided, watching closely to see what would happen.

Arnost didn't even notice the opponent and his behavior. He was focused on the duel ahead. He dodged the spell, and cast a Trip Jinx. It wasn't something to end the match, but it was still a little different. Second years did not have much leeway when it came to the spells.

Hemi thought it was time to change his tactics if he wanted to win this duel. He blocked the trip jinx then nodded at his opponent. "Did you know that you flourish your wand too much?" He told him, trying to throw the kid off his game and doubt his abilities. "If you hold your wand a bit firmer, you will probably get better results, just sayin'. Look, watch how I do it - Stupefy!" He said, throwing his next offensive spell.

Arnost wasn't sure what the boy was talking about. He tossed up a shield, before looking down at his wand and how he held it. Nah, it was fine. Arnost smiled, "I'm keeping up with you, so obviously what I am doing is working! Petrificus Totalus!"

Okay plan A didn't work but Hemi could do better than that. He verbally cast his defensive spell before trying to defeat his opponent once and for all. "Fair enough, but can you keep up with this? Expelliarmus. Rictusempra. Stupefy!" He cast three offensive spells rapidly, not even taking the time to see one outcome before casting the next. He wasn't sure if it was technically against the rules to do this in a duel and would get him disqualified but he didn't care, he wasn't exactly one for following rules at the best of times.

Before the Hufflepuff could even react, as soon as Kalif heard all the spells, he cast up a shield to protect Arnost. Kalif turned to look at the Gryffindor. "Disqualified for breaching the rules. Arnost wins." He shook his head. He should have known a second year would have pulled something like this.
