Professor Misha Haden had been a bit surprised to be asked to help out, he didn't often, but he didn't mind it. Though of course he was feeling a little more tired than usual with the boys keeping him awake. It was nice though, they were adorable. He looked at the two students whose duel he was overseeing. "Let's keep this clean," he said, before inviting them to get started.

The duel begins now. You have 24 hours from this to post your first reply, or face disqualification. Once both duelists have posted, you will have 24 hours from your opponents post to reply, or be disqualified. Ensure that you use the spell list for guidance on age-appropriate spells, and read over the dueling rules and points system. Please also remember site rules apply, including power/god modding. You can find the site rules here. Duels will run until there is a winner or until 6 IRL days have passed, in which case the winner will be chosen by RNG. If you are knocked out or otherwise disarmed/incapacitated, or if you run out of points, you will lose and the duel will end. Have fun!

Spectators are allowed to post in this topic once per competitors post, but are forbidden from directly interfering with the duels. Duelers cannot cast spells at the spectators or face disqualification.

Sayuri had a practiced long and hard for this tournament and she was looking forward to hopefully going up against her siblings, Eli in particular. It seemed though that it won’t be happening for a while. She stood in front a Ravenclaw girl she didn’t really know and quickly cast a spell at a drop of hat after they were told to begin. “Expelliarmus,” it would be best to try and end it as early as she could

Demi was excited for the duels, because maybe it would give her the chance to let out some of her energy, let alone go up against some of the students she'd like to slap across the face. Even if the slap was with magic, the Ravenclaw would take it. "Protego!" Demi threw up a protective spell when her opponent started them off. Annoyingly she didn't really care for the Slytherin, but maybe she'd come up against someone who would make her feel better about winning against later on. "Everte Statum," Demi said clearly, hoping to send the second year flying.

Lumos happily cheered on his best friend, especially against Sayuri, who he knew hated him, even if she did terrify him just a little. This was just a game, right. "Yeah Demi! Girl you got this!"​

Sayuri didn't really have a reason to hold back against the girl. She intended to win this tournament and even if she were to lose, she certainly didn't intend to lose against a random girl. And especially not in the first round. "Protego," she cast calmly while she went through her repertoire before deciding on throwing the Knee-Reversing Hex.

Jonah was standing with Lumos watching Sayuri and Demi duel, though he was waving a green flag about instead of cheering for Demi. Whoops. Sorry Lumos.​

Demi was feeling confident about her duel with Sayuri, or at least she was until her eyes took a few seconds to search for Lumos' voice in the crowd. Despite being stood with him a moment before, it was harder to find him from up here. As her eyes were looking at the faces of the students, she felt her legs being hit by one of the jinx's they'd learnt in one of the recent lessons, and immediately pain tore through her body as her knees reversed. Refusing to glance up at the professor to see if he would consider this to be a failed duel, Demi was quick to end the effects of the spell, just like Professor Waldgrave had told them to. She hadn't fallen to the stage floor either, not allowing anyone but especially Tori to think of her as weak. "Expelliarmus," Demi said clearly, hoping the Slytherin would lose her wand.

The Ravenclaw being hit by a spell should have been Sayuri's opening, which is why she threw a "Stupefy" just as the other girl threw her spell as well making Sayuri have to scramble to get a shield up just in time as well.

Demi was quick to block another incoming spell with Protego this time, quickly realising that was probably the most important spell of them all. "Petrificus Totalus," the second year quickly fired back, wasting no time.

It was getting easier to adjust to the girl's casting so Sayuri managed to get another shield up, just in time. This was getting a little annoying, though, dragging on as it was. "Expelliarmus!"

It was annoying how Sayuri kept blocking her spells, neither of the girls letting the other get a spell in edgeways. "Are you getting tired yet?" Demi called out after blocking the Slytherin's next attempt. It was hard work, harder than Demi thought it would have been, but she wasn't about to be beaten from it. Having three siblings meant she was used to fights after all. Demi racked her brains for spells she could recall, before sending the slug vomiting curse Sayuri's way.

Lumos continued to watch Demi's duel, wondering who would come out on top, his best friend, or the girl who kept calling him a cockroach.

Sayuri couldn't help but snort at the girl's question. As if she could make her tired. She had no desire to be vomiting slugs even if it were easily reversible so she blocked the spell coming her way and cast "Petrificus Totalus," right back.

For some reason, Sayuri thought it was funny that Demi had asked if she was getting tired, but since she had no energy left to talk she could only assume she was right. Demi blocked her spell easily, casting another “Stupefy” straight back.

Ruth was doing her best to get along to support her dormmates. Sayuri was pretty aloof, she thought, but the girl was still pretty cool and Ruth wasn't not going to support any of the girls she shared a dorm room with. She was cautious not to be distracting, but still waved her green ribbons to cheer Sayuri on to hopefully victory.

It was annoying how evenly matched the two of them were that it was becoming a test of endurance and who could get a spell in faster. She blocked with the shield spell even as she moved to the side, maybe being mobile would make a Disarming Charm more likely go through. "Expelliarmus"

Demi wasn’t about to let her guard down with the Slytherin, not even for a moment, She hadn’t come this far just to lose. She blocked the spell with a well placed Protego, before she used “Petrificus Totalus”.

Demi was getting tired of the Slytherin, and hoped she’d give up soon. Demi blocked the offence spell again and hit back with another stun of her own, trying to get the duel over with.

Why can't this girl just... Sayuri knew she needed to keep her temper under control but Merlin was this girl annoying. She blocked that spell again and threw another Disarming Charm. She was getting good at casting it, now if only it would actually hit!​

Why wouldn’t Sayuri just give up already? Neither second was going to back down, and it was exhausting. Demi blocked another spell and sent back a petrifying charm, hoping to freeze the Slytherin where she stood.

The duel had gone on for so long that by the time Sayuri fell to the floor Demi thought she was joking. “You weren’t meant to get hit!” Demi exclaimed, glancing toward the professor.
 
Sayuri agreed. But she's frozen on the floor and cannot respond, thank you very much.​
