Domino Effect-

Alois laughed as he let Amelia pull him down into lying next to her on her bed, there's really nothing bad about it, seeing that he had no ill intentions about her at all, she respected the girl, and that's that, he'll never do anything to make her angry, or worse, to make her not want to talk to him, ever again. "Sorry for that Amy.." He said, smiling as she turned to face him, their faces were just a few inches apart and their lips just a few centimeters away, yet, he can't really bring himself to kiss her, seeing that they weren't really together yet, he won't risk their already close friendship for something like that and so, what he did was to kiss her on the forehead once again, just like what he had done to her earlier, "Now sleep, do you want me to sing you a lullaby or read you a story, cause if you do, believe me, I'm not really a good story teller." He said, his eyes looking at her and him smiling gratefully as ever.

Amy smiled as he kissed her on her head slightly. She smiled back, catching his eye. "What will you do once i am asleep then?" She asked, turning her head back to face the ceiling. "Can you sing?" She asked, her tone mocking, as she wondered if he could hold a tune unlike many other boys that she had met who claimed that they could, but they really couldn't. She saw that his smile looked almost grateful and she wondered why this was. She was only being a good friend and company. She had grown to like him a lot in the short time that they had met. He was goodlooking, friendly, proper and charming. He was very nice and she enjoyed his company greatly.

"What will I do? I'll just watch over you, I won't do anything suspicious really,no ill intentions at all." Alois said with a laugh as Amelia asked what he would do once she fell asleep. Actually, it's already too late for him to get back, so he'll probably just stay anyway, and if he can, he won't sleep, just wait until Amelia wake up. "Can I sing? just a little, I'm much better in playing the saxophone and the violin than in singing, would you like me to sing?" He asked with a smirk, surely, his voice is not that good but he can definitely sing and all, he's really into music after all. "You're not going to laugh right?, well, here I go then.." He said as he took a deep breath before breaking out into a song.

Looking back, he sees it all
It was her first date the night he came to call
And her dad said son, have her home on time
And promise me you'll never leave her side

He sang, it was a song entitled He was walking her home, one of those songs that he had always loved to hear. After he's done, he turned to face the girl, "It's not bad, is it?" He asked, a sheepish smile appearing on his face, "Now Amy, it's your turn to sing."

Amelia smiled at him. She hadn't expected him to do anything with ill intentions - it just didn't fit his character in her eyes. She tilted her head to the side and closed her eyes as he began to sing. He was a good singer and she smiled, thinking how modest he had been. She didn't laugh at all, it wouldn't be polite, but he had a very good voice. At the end, she clapped him and started to laugh. "That was really good. You said you weren't good at it." She said smiling. She found the lyrics slightly ironic for her life, because her dad wouldn't get involved at all. It would more likely be Jack to say that or just to refuse point blank. She smiled again, realising that no matter what had happened with her parents and her, she had Jack and now she had Alois. She really was quite lucky after all. "No, i won't sing. Especially after that." She said, smiling still. Her voice was average for a girl, but enhanced by the natural charm of a half-veela. But still, she wouldn't sing. Her voice was like a chime of bells, and her voice wasn't much different, except with a little more change in tones and notes. She didn't think that she would be able to sleep with him around, and didn't want to now. "Now i don't want to sleep. And i will possibly sing another time, but not now." She said, smiling but her tone almost whiny in a joking way as she mentioned not sleeping. Sitting up, she curled her legs under her and smiled.

Alois run a hand through his jet-black locks of hair as Amelia complimented him, surely, he was happy about it yet embarrassed at the same time. "Thank you for saying that Amy, it's actually the first time that I sang in front of a girl, I always sang for my mom, or for my cousin whenever she can't sleep." He said with a shrug, thinking back at how new it was for him to actually have the guts to sing a whole song, usually, he performs or play the violin or the sax for his parent's business associates, but he never sang at all. He pretended to sulk when Amelia said that she won't sing, he likes to hear her voice after all. "Even just a part of a song Amy? I'm not going to laugh, I promise, I just want to hear you sing.." He said, smiling hopefully at the girl, wishing that she'll grant that wish of his. He's not really expecting anything great, he just wanted to listen to her voice. Alois sighed as he pat Amy in the head playfully, "Now, now Amy, you don't really want to sleep?" He said, crossing his arms in front of his chest, "then, what would you like to do?" He added as he tilt the side to get a better view of the girl.

Amelia smiled. "Well you have a very good voice." She said with another smile. She raised her eyebrows and sighed. Surely she could grant him just part of a song then, seeing as he had asked so nicely... Closing her eyes, she started to hum the beginning tune, losing herself in the music and trying to forget that Alois was there, because she knew that she would just laugh. Her voice rang out through the room, like bells combined with a wave, reaching into every corner. It had been her favourite song when she had been little and it meant more to her now. She paused as the male part came up, wondering if he would join in. The song was Somewhere out there and she was enjoying singing in front of someone - a rare feeling for her. She opened her eyes and took hold of his hand as the chorus part came up. Humming the instrumental part in the middle, she joined in again as the words came up, gazing into Alois' eyes and smiling at him with her head tilted to the side like his was. When the song had finished, she smiled and then broke the gaze, looking down and waiting for his verdict. "No, i don't want to sleep. Depends on what you want to do." She said, smiling at him again as he tilted his head to the side.

Alois closed his eyes involuntarily as Amelia started to sing. Contrary to what she had just said, her voice was actually nice, it was like a chorus of angels singing in praise. And the song that she had just sang was actually one that is nice to listen to. His fingers tapped in rhythm to the song, smiling as he continued to listen to her. When she paused at the male part of the song, Alois decided to join in as well, opening his eyes as he gazed in hers. It was a nice feeling, different from when one was singing alone. At the end of the song, Alois cannot help but to broke out into a laugh, seeing just how they had had a duet without even intending to do so, or without even talking about it at all. "You sing greatly Amy.. sorry if I joined in.." He said as he composed himself. He had actually enjoyed it, if only there was a piano or a sax or anything, then he could play her a song. "I'm fine with anything Amy, you can decided what we should do now.." He remarked as he waited for Amy to suggest anything that they could possibly do.

Amy smiled as he joined in. "No, i hoped you would." She said, her voice in mock seriousness until the randomness of the moment overtook her and she just burst out laughing as well. "Thanks, but without the veela help, you would be running away with your ears covered." She said, laughing at her voice that was only fairly good because of the veela essence in it. "It would be better with an orchestra or something, but sometimes i think that voices are better, more simple." She debated, with herself again. "That is probably a little dangerous to leave it to me." She admitted, knowing what she might possibly suggest if she got carried away. No, she wouldn't let that happen, especially with Alois who was a good enough friend not to ruin it. She smiled at him, forcing him to choose. They could debate it all night, but she wouldn't suggest anything. Her stubbornness would be the end of her, her father told her, but she didn't care. In incidences such as these, it was good for her.

"I wouldn't ran away Amy, even if your voice is not good, I wouldn't do that at all, that's improper, and well, I won't do that with you." Alois said with a laugh, surely he had had heard others who sang awfully, but he didn't even had second thoughts about leaving them hanging, he's very tolerant after all, and besides, at least they tried to sing right? Alois became silent for a moment as he tried to think of anything that they could possibly do, being inside a room, there's a limit to those things after all. "How about we play a game Amy? Any suggestions for that?"
OOCOut of Character:
Sorry if this is lame, I'm currently doing school works. . . :(

Amy smiled at him. "Well, i will leave that until you hear me, but for now, lets let you have your opinion." She said with a cheeky wink. She looked around the room as he became silent, trying to think of what they could do. She turned back to face him though as he spoke. Nodding, she agreed. "That sounds like a good idea, well better than any i would have come up with." She added, thinking of how much her brain was doing nothing, suggesting no ideas and being no help to anyone. "Monopoly? Wizard chess?" She asked, wondering which one he would choose. She wasn't very good at the latter, but seemed to have a skill for the former one. But still, monopoly was slightly restricted with 2 people, so it would be a good opportunity for her to improve her chess skills, especially with someone so nice. "What games were you thinking of?" She asked, wondering down which avenue he was heading, board games or word games - she didn't mind either.

"Wizard chess would be cool Amy.." Alois said with a smirk. He had always love playing the said game, it's also one of the ways at which him and his father could honestly talk casually, it's like a bonding between the two of them. "Do you know how to play it?" He then asked, smiling like a child, it's been quite a long time since he had played the said game with a girl, and if Amy is not really that skilled in it, he would surly love to teach her. "You know Amy, this game, chess, is always compared to life, you know that saying, life is but a game of chess?"

Amelia smiled as he chose the game that she had offered. Picking herself up off the bed, she pulled open a drawer underneath her bedside cabinet, in which she had kept random things that she didn't need to take around with her. Pulling out the game, she returned to the bed and curled her legs up again. Opening the game up, she smiled at him and nodded. She knew how to play, but not very well. "I can play, but don't expect anything amazing. My skills are very limited." She laughed, remembering the very words that a friend had once used to describe her at chess. "Yes i know the saying. Quite well actually." She said, her voice slightly bitter as she could hear her fathers voice in her head, telling her the very same words. Exactly as Alois had said them, using her name in every sentence. She hated the way that her father had always referred to life as that, because she believed that there was more to life than sacrificing different parts of it to keep one part alive. She found the expression too laid back and had now found that she disliked it strongly. Sighing at the fact that she had taken her annoyance out of Alois, she decided to apologise. "Sorry, its just that those were the exact same words that my father used to say to me when i was little. Whenever i had a problem, that was what he would say. I suppose they were just words to shut me up." She finished, looking down at the bored instead of Alois. Setting out her pieces to the right spots, she sighed feeling bad still.

Alois was a bit taken back when he saw that Amelia wasn't particularly happy with what he had just said about life being just a game of chess, he didn't quite get it but it seemed like he had offended her, and he wondered why is that. He didn't want her to be sad because of him. his question was actually answered when she had actually explained why was it that she had reacted that way, apparently, it was once again, because of her parents, or her father to be more specific. "I'm sorry if I had said that, my father would always say the same thing to me as well. He thinks that once I understand how it is played, I'll be able to understand life more. He says that like the knight pieces in chess, there are those people who would use foul play just to get what they want, and there'll be a lot of sacrifices needed just to achieve one's goal, that's how he views life.." He explained with a gentle tone as he arranged his pieces in the board as well, holding out the last piece and twirling it in his fingers. "He said to me that the queen holds the most tragic position in this game, and I do understand why.. do you know the reason behind it Amy?"

Amy sighed and shrugged. "No don't be sorry. Its my fault for over-reacting. I can't seem to escape my parents, no matter what i do." She said, her voice slightly sad but a smile on her face as she turned back to the game to see what was going on. She knew exactly where Alois was coming from, and why the different parts were important. But she didn't really know the real meanings behind each piece, just knew the basic idea of the expression. Deciding to take a random guess, she shrugged. "Maybe because you really can't play the game without it. It can be defensive and part of the attack, but most of the time you end up having to lose it for the sake of saving the king. It is probably the most important part - but you have to give it up." She said her tone asking, now wanting to know the real reason. Thinking how true this was to life now that she thought about it. For the sake of the main part, you had to sacrifice important things so that others could make their way.

"It is indeed true Amy, in life, we have to give something up, but you know for me, what's tragic about the queen's position is not because she had to sacrifice herself to save the king, it's her duty after all, and it had actually gave her some sort of importance by doing so, what's tragic is that, even though she was the queen, the one who stays at the rightful side of the king, once she's gone, she can easily be replaced by just a mere pawn, ironic, is it not?" Alois said, pushing his pawn forward by three blocks, wondering how Amy would actually react to what he had just said, as well as how she'll move her pieces.

Amy frowned at his words. She guessed that there was a bigger meaning behind them, but she wasn't sure what it was yet. "Fair enough." She commented, her tone plain whilst her brain tried to work it all out. She looked at his piece and moved her pawn by 2 blocks forward as well. She didn't really know how to play well, so decided to just imitate his moves for now - a tip she had copied from someone once. Deciding that he would probably know what she was going to do, she sighed again and watched as he moved his piece. She was having a nice time with Alois, but she was tired nonetheless so this was the reason for her shortness and struggle with playing the game.

(OOC: Sorry for the depressing post, i know it isn't like her character. Im having a bad day, tired and stressed so it has probably rubbed off on all my characters :( i have also just posted with my slytherin character so their posts probably have something similar in them. Sorry again :jesse: )

Alois stopped when he had noticed how Amelia's character and behavior had changed, she's probably not enjoying the game as much as he did, and well, he didn't actually like that, it's not fair if he's the only one who was enjoying the game. "Amy, do you want to stop now?" He asked her, his voice gentle and full of concern, he wondered what was actually going on in her mind at the moment. It would be fine if she had decided to stop playing, he'll understand that, it's just that, it's rather depressing to see her not as cheerful as she was before. Nevertheless, he decided to move his bishop diagonally to the far end of the board, the farthest that it can go to, he'll stop once she told him to do.
OOCOut of Character:
It's alright.. don't worry about it.
I do hope that you're fine now. ^_^

(OOC: No its fine now thanks :D this is why i love HNZ, a place to escape to, somewhere to look at characters problems instead of your own. :p )

Amelia looked up as he spoke. Shaking her head she smiled. "No, im liking this game." Frowning down on the board, she sighed. "What do i do. If i go there, you can take me. If i go there, you can take me. And if i go there, you can take me." She said, pointing out the different said places. She was ok at the part of the game where you had to notice if people could take you or not, but she wasn't very good at knowing what to do if there weren't many available places. "Sorry, i am rubbish at it all." She said with another sigh. If Alois wanted to stop the game because she was rubbish, she wouldn't care but she wanted to learn and he seemed nice enough to teach her and put up with her hopelessness with it all.

Alois then just smiled as Amelia said that she was liking the game, at least, now, he was assured that it was not only him who was enjoying. "If that's what you want." He said, nodding his head in agreement then.

Looking at the places where she had just pointed to, Alois could see her point, really, she was indeed trapped by his previous move. Putting a finger on his chin, he tried to think of a possible solution to the said game. That is then that he had noticed one piece that she could sacrifice in order for her to be able to move freely for the next round. "There's actually a solution to that Amy, you can move your pawn, here, it could possibly block the move of my bishop yet, it will be sacrificed as well." He said, wondering whether she got his point.

Amy smiled and nodded. Moving her pawn quickly, she smiled and breathed a sigh of relief. "Sorry, it will be like playing a game with yourself." She said, her tone apologetic, but still finding the whole situation amusing still. Laughing quietly, she watched the next few moves and then moved another pawn herself. Deciding to go back with the theme of copying his moves, she set about to do that still, he moves imitating his to the exact point. "You are really good at this." She said with a smile, watching as the game progressed. Glancing at the time, she realised that it had gone 11 and she found herself slightly tired now, especially since the last few nights had been late ones. But, she would continue playing and wouldn't mention it. She didn't want to come across as rude.

Alois had had to smile when he saw that Amelia had actually followed his advice. The game was progressing actually, and now that he think about it, Amelia's was not as bad as she was saying. Actually, that imitating thing that she was doing is actually a great strategy. Glancing up at the time, he had noticed how late it had become, and how he had actually forgotten that he was supposed to tell his father about the tab that he had left at the restaurant where they ate earlier. Standing up, he had tried to excuse himself from Amelie, he needed to call back to his father now. "Sorry Amy, but, is there a telephone here that I could use?" He asked her, feeling really stupid for forgetting what it was that he should do.

Amy smiled at him. "Yeh, there is one just outside. I disconnected the one in here because it rang at strange times, so sorry. Go out of the door and turn right." She said with a smile. As he left, she quickly moved the chess set to a stool at the edge of the room in case they wanted to continue it another time. Lying back on the bed, she closed her eyes, just for a second, planning to open them again when he returned. But instead of that, she went straight to sleep, sprawled across the bed, still in her clothes, on top of the duvet. Alois had said that nothing strange would happen, so with this reassurance, she fell into a deep sleep. Her hair lay around her, across the pillow, highlighting the perfection of her face. It would have been a beautiful sight, but Amy was too asleep to acknowledge it.

Alois had gone out to call his father just as what Amelia had instructed. It was getting really late now and his father had actually asked where he was, thinking that he can't possibly be at school as these muggle things weren't really functioning inside the said are. He did tell the truth though, that he was currently with a friend, but he didn't said that that friend was a girl, after all, who knew what his father would think, or more so, his cousin. It had actually took him some time before he could even get back to Amelia's room, his cousin had insisted on talking to him, saying things like she had wanted to see him soon., bidding his cousin goodbye after a couple of minutes of promising her that he'll visit her soon, Alois had finally returned to the said room. And when he did, he had noticed how Amy was already sleeping peacefully. He cannot help but to actually smile at the sight. She was indeed very beautiful. Moving to one of her large sofas, he had himself take a rest as well, he was just thinking and was looking at her that he hadn't fully realized that his eyes were already feeling heavy.
