DA meeting Three

"Well Alex, at the moment we should be thinking of new possible names for the DA. We have only had one suggestion of Defence Association so far, thank you Crystal."

Hilary smiled at the idea, "What about HDTV for Hogwart's Defends Terrible Velcro....." she said with a serious *I'm not joking look* that quickly broke into a smile. "Okay my actual suggestion is...TNT for Totally Not Trouble

"Hello" kasey wished to all,the ones she knew from before and the new."My name is Kasey Carla.I am a Rawnclaw first year.I decided to join Da because i really like to learn how to defend myself."i like the name ,Defence Association"she said smiling

Crystal noded in thanks as Courtney repeated her suggestion and listened with intrest and amusement to Hilary's.
Laughing at her real suggestion for a name, she said quite seriously,"How do you know we're not trouble makers?"She raised an eyebrow waiting for her response.

Lily had been sitting on the grass in the middle of the group quiet the whole time. She realized that she was one of the few yet to introduce herself. She stood up and began to speak.

"Well, I guess I need to introduce myself. I am Lily Potter, second year Ravenclaw. I joined up to be able to improve my defensive magic in any way I can. And I vote for the velcro name," she added with a giggle, "Okay, so really I vote for TNT, because I think that it would be funny since many of us may actually be troublemakers." She looked right at Courtney and Hilary when she said this.

She then sat back down and pulled her knees to her chest and wrapped her arms around them. She slyly looked over her shoulder to where Blake was, smiled quickly at him and then turned to face Courtney again. She hoped that she was far enough away to not see her blush.

Hilary smiled "Yeah, that's why I liked the name Lily, because it was so ironic.....I guess. Because although it's Totally Not Trouble, TNT is actually a supreme explosive :)" she was glad atleast one other person didn't like the boringness of *Defence Asociation*. She would rather have something that didn't really make sense than something boring. She smiled at Lily and then turned to Kiera who showed up late "Well we just finished eating everyone who was late, but you even missed that....we are actually in the middle of thinking up a new name for the DA. The suggestions so far were Defense Asociation and TNT for Totally not trouble." she gave her friend a smile

"I like TNT. It seems ironic." Kailey said not really knowing how to jump into the meeting.

(((That's exactly how you jump into a meeting Kailey....just for the record))))

[I know but Kailey was meant to be a bit socially akward...Did I spell that right?]

Zoe had been listening to the ideas. She liked both ideas, alot. "I like both, though, if that helps at all." She said.

"Ok," Alex interuppted, "Seeing as we are at a stalemate for the name, can we get to that later? (perhaps a poll in the DA forum) Can we discuss what types of defensive spells we would like to attempt this year, or at least for now?"

Courtney glared at Alex. "Two suggestions have been made, I do not believe we are at a stalemate, as you say.

"One of the purposes of this meeting was to discuss possible name changes. If you have a problem with this, you may leave. It was not my decision that you were absent from our last meeting." Courtney continued to speak as she paced around the group of students, "If anybody has any other name suggestions, please reveal them now. As for spells, we will be starting out small."

Smiling, Crystal said,"Ok! Maybe TNT is a better name." Grinning she added,"While we're on the subject of explosions, will we be learning spells to make stuff explode?"she jumped and threw her arms wide as she said this and accidently knocked two people on the nose."Sorry!"she said quickly hoping she hadn't done two much damage. Being full of energy was not always a good thing.

Sophia watched Crystal with a sneer on her face, glad that she was not standing anywhere near the girl. Although she was not at all a fan of TNT, she had no better name ideas and decided to let Courtney continue to run the meeting and see what happened.

Courtney grinned, as much as she liked TNT, she was not sure if it was an appropriate name for the club. The more serious members may not enjoy being called that.

"Defence Association has been suggested. What do you all think about Student's Defence Association?"

After hearing Crystal's question, Courtney laughed. "Actually, I'm not certain I know of a spell to make things explode. We should probably stick to shielding and stunning at first."

Hilary looked around and didn't really get it. "So if we're changing from the DA to the SDA is there really a point? If we're going to change our name shouldn't we atleast have different innitials. Actually up until this point I was under the impression that DA stood for Defense Association anyways...so I just don't see the point of adding *student* to the beggining seeing as that is just obvious" Hilary had no idea if that made any sense but knew that she didn't want a "boring" name. She was actually proud of that idea because she was sure it would be something that everyone could find something they liked in.

Sophia turned her golden eyes gaze to Hilary, her look piercing. "Although I recognize that this group should be somewhat fun, defense is a serious matter. As you may not have been in situations where defense is necessary, you might not see it quite as I do. I do not believe that this club should be taken so lightly as to be given a name Totally Not Trouble. I may be wrong, as this is not my club, but I believe we should be a bit more serious than that."

Sophia turned to Courtney, wanting to know what she thought of her comments. She did not want to step on Courtney's toes, but she felt the need to make her views known.

Hilary returned Sophia's gaze, two could play at this game "That was the reason that I suggested something with initials of a slightly more serious type, TNT is no joke. It is a main ingredient in the making of bombs as well as many explosives. I did not expect a witch like yourself to know this well known fact but I did atleast hint at it earlier, if you were paying attention." She also turned towards Courtney, who she expected would maybe feel slightly self concious with two such opinionated people in her group.

Sophia's expression hardened as she turned back to Hilary. She could feel the anger building up in her, but she kept it in check.

"Yes, thank you for remembering that I was brought up in the Wizarding World with no knowledge of muggle things. I am sure Muggle Studies will help remedy that. I do not, however, appreciate your personal attack, as I made none to you.

"While the initials may be serious to you, the words behind them are not in any way. That was my point." Sophia did not turn back to Courtney this time, but instead kept her eyes locked on Hilary. Despite the changes that took place in her over the summer, Sophia was still a force not to be reckoned with.

Hilary returned her gaze back to Sophia, she had not felt this angry in rather a long time, she was usually the patient one in their family.

"I do not see how you didn't personally attack me. You stared right at me and called me inexperienced as well as implying that I was stupid to for wanting a name like that. I simply meant by my comment that I had already explained that TNT was an explosive earlier this meeting. I understand that you do not agree with what it stands for but I simply meant, Tottaly Not Trouble, to mean that we weren't causing problems not as a joking name."

She maintained her gaze to show that she stood for what she ment. Wow, this group already has helped me with the confidence part. she thought to herself.

Courtney was worried that the third DA meeting would once again get out of hand. She stepped in between Sophia and Hilary so that their gazes would fall upon her and not each other. She didn't think that the naming of the club would cause so much drama, and respected the opinions of both girls.

Not looking at anyone in particular, she spoke. "I believe the name of the club should be no joking matter. Those of us who worked to put it together and arrange meetings do not want to see our efforts flop. Now I am not sure how this blew into an argument, but I'm hoping we can all get along."

She looked over to Sophia. "Do you suggest we stray from the topic of changing the name of the club and move on to defence?"

Sophia's gaze fell upon Courtney as she stepped before her and the harshness left her expression. She still felt responsible for the mess that was the last DA meeting and was ashamed with herself for acting as she had been toward Hilary.

"Yes, I suppose that is good. Perhaps if anyone else comes up with another idea they can send it to you and we can conduct a poll at a later time?" Sophia was not trying to take over the meeting, but merely offer her opinion to Courtney.

Hilary's gaze instantly softened when Courtney stepped between them. She was actually quite glad that she had because she feared this might turn ugly. She had heard about the past meeting and didn't want a repeat preformance. Though she felt that Courtney was talking mainly to her she did not press the subject any further and simply put her expression back to neutral. When Sophia made her comment she smiled and said sweetly "Yeah, I think that's a great idea Sophia." She didn't want to seem two-faced but simply wanted to show that she agreed.

"So,how often will we have these meetings,we cant have it disturb our Qudditch practice,Ya Countrey?"said Kasey somewhere behind the crowd.she was still thinking hard
