With the new team for the year decided, it was time for Beauxbatons to get their training underway. They had a winning streak going, one that Brendan was looking forward to maintaining, but in order to do so meant frequent practice to ensure they all kept on top of their game, and that the newcomers were gaining the experience they needed to take over in future and keep up the french school's reputation. Hogwarts New Zealand had made a mistake in challenging Beauxbatons, and Brendan wanted to make sure they knew that year after year. The foreign academy had nothing on them in Quidditch.

With the Quidditch box in hand, Fulke made his way down to the school's pitch in order to set up for the day, and waited for the others to arrive. The sky was mostly clear, dotted with the occasional cloud but still certainly far from the threat of rain which he was thankful for. One of the last year's practice in the torrential downpour had not been their best, to say the least, and the Chaser made sure to check the weather forecast more closely from that point on to avoid risking playing with too big of an obstacle.

OOCOut of Character:
Practice will be open for 2 weeks! Remember activity is crucial for the success (and future) of this team on the site, so please participate! Please PM Daphne or I if you cannot make it to any practice.

Fletcher had been delighted to find out she'd kept her position on the French Quidditch team, and even though she already missed those that had gone on to other things in their lives, the beater was excited to welcome Maia as her new partner. Shed worked with her last year and knew first hand she was a good shot. Making her way down to the pitch she greeted Brendan and waited for the others to arrive. She was thankful it wasnt raining on this occasion, but if last year was anything to go by the Beauxbatons team were able to play through the elements and cone out on top against Hogwarts.

Elvira was still a little baffled about her new position as captain, especially because she wasn't really all that organized. But at least she had Brendan to rely on. The older boy knew what he was doing, which she really needed. The team they had settled on seemed really strong, and Elvira was proud to be a part of it. Their first practice of the year was about to start, which was very important. The new members of the team needed to get used to playing on the team so they could beat Hogwarts New Zealand all over again. She was still proud of her win last year, and wanted to repeat it. Elvira needed the practice as much as anyone else if she wanted to catch the snitch quickly again. As she made her way down to the pitch, she felt like she was pretty early. At least, until she saw Fletcher had beaten her there. Elvira pondered for a moment if she should make some sort of pun about the beater beating her to the practice, but then decided drawing attention to it would probably just make her look bad. Quickly, she made her way to Brendan's side. "Ready for practice?" She asked him cheerfully. It was his final year at school, which couldn't be easy. Next year, Elvira would be in the same position.

Nadine found it hard to believe she was actually on the team. She may be an alternate, but that had been more than the second year had dared to hope for. She had a happy smile on her face as she made her way to the pitch, bouncing slightly. The captains were there, as well as one of their beaters. Eager to make some friends on the team, Nadine made her way over to Fletcher. "Hi! Are you excited? I'm excited! Though I guess it's my first practice and not yours so maybe it's less exciting for you!"

She headed over towards the team members already on the Pitch and smiled at them happily. Maia was so happy she had been made Beater that endless talk about OWLs couldn't even stop her from bouncing through the castle. She didn't worry much about the exams though, she already knew that she didn't want to work at or for the Ministry of Magic.

Over the last two years, Celine had grown quite used to the regular flow and rhythm of practices that were scheduled. It was a nice break from her studying, which was sorely needed now that she was entering her NEWTs years. Elvira had already gone ahead to the Quidditch pitch, and though Celine wouldn't have minded walking down with her she thought it best to give her friend some time to adjust to the new role of co-captain. Brendan would be leaving at the end of the year, and it would be good for Elvira to learn all she could before she had to be the senior captain next year. Celine smiled at the thought as she walked across the pitch to the rest of the team already gathered there. That would be a sight to see. She greeted the other players once she was close enough, and then idly tossed her broom back and forth in her hands as she waited for practice to begin.

It was a good feeling to be back on the team again. Theodore had been worried someone much older and more experienced would come along to take his spot, and had been relieved to find he was the only person trying out for the alternate seeker position. His broom at the ready, the young boy greeted the others present with a cheerful wave, and prepared to head into the sky as soon as they were allowed.

Brendan greeted the others as they arrived, already itching to head into the sky and start playing for the sake of playing. Captaining was fun, but the responsibility could detract a little from actually enjoying Quidditch for himself, at least in the instances of practicing. "Ready as I can be." The redhead responded to his co-captain with a smile, before stooping down to fiddle with the locks of the Quidditch chest. Once it seemed like everyone had gathered around, he let looose the bludgers and the snitch, and took the quaffle in his own hands. "Alright everyone. Most of you know what you're doing by now. Alternates, feel free to ask for help or advice if you feel you're not doing too well, or could be doing better. Help each other out, everyone. Teamwork is essential to winning. The match against the New Zealand Hogwarts school is at the end of the year, and its important we hold on to our title. Celine, you're defending on your own this year, unless one of the alts wants to try their hand at it. Chasers, if you take possession of the quaffle from our keeper, make sure you do a half lap before coming back in to score. Everyone ready? On my mark." With a blow of the small whistle around his neck, Fulke tossed the quaffle into the air and took to the sky after it to watch the players from above.

Elvira wanted to say something encouraging to Brendan, but wasn't sure what. The boy spoke to the team, giving them some excellent directions that made Elvira nervous. Being a captain came so naturally to him, how was she ever going to replace that in a year? Once they were able to get to the air, she kicked off and looked around for the snitch. Now that she was co-captain, she really couldn't let Theodore beat her to it again.

Theodore wasted no time in kicking off from the pitch. He'd tried his best to track the snitch from the ground, only half paying attention to Brendan until the whistle had been blown, but it was simply too fast and too far away by now. Taking to the sky, he scoured the sea of blue for that telltale glimmer of gold light.

Fletcher listened as their Captans gave them a pep talk although the red head was already itching to go. Mounting her broom when she was able, the fourth year took off into the sky, bat in one hand and determination in the other. She wanted to do well and had previously not done too badly in practises, and she could only hope to keep up her ability.

When Brendan indicated that it was time for practice to begin, Celine stopped tossing her broom back and forth from hand to hand and instead held it firmly at her side. With a nod at the older boy's instructions to indicate that she understood, Celine wasn't too fazed by the idea of dealing with every chaser attempt on her own. Although she had never done so in either of her previous years on the team, Celine saw this as a chance to just get more of her own practice in. She readied herself astride her broom, and then kicked off into the air and flew towards her preferred end of the pitch once Brendan began the practice.

Checking to see where her teammates were, Fletcher began her search for the bludger, flying after it when she caught sight of one rounding the pitch. If she could hit it that would be something.

Theo scanned the skies, hoping to get a head start in catching the snitch. If he was going to be a core player one day, he had to make sure he was a good one. Frowning as there seemed to be no sight of it, the boy flew off toward the opposite side of the pitch to check there instead.

Of course, Grace had hoped that she was going to get on the team, and she was actually surprised that she had been made alternate Beater. Okay, so it wasn’t a temporary position, however it was still something. Grace hadn’t entirely expected it. If she were honest, trying out was more out of luck and hope than convinced she would make it. But now she had a position, she was going to make the most out of it and the practices. She arrived to the pitch promptly and quickly headed to the others, where the captain was speaking. She was just in time to hear what he was saying. She nodded, really hoping the other team members would help Grace if she asked for help. One of the beaters, Fletcher, was someone Grace wanted to look at closely during the game just in case she had some techniques she could learn from. When the whistle was blown Grace mounted her broom and was up in the air, searching for bludgers, while at the same time trying to stay out of the way of any nearby.

From above, Brendan watched the others take off to their positions, keeping a close eye in particular on Elvira just in case she managed to snag the snitch incredibly early on. They all owed her a lot for their recent victories, and he couldn't have asked for a better seeker on the team. With any hope, they'd both manage to take a spot on the Quafflepunchers team, though the redhead wasn't entirely sure of the girls own ambitions. It would have been nice to have many of the Beauxbatons members playing together on a professional team, and Fulke hoped he himself would manage to make it once graduation was over. With his grades average at best, he wasn't too sure what his other options were if not.

Elvira glanced at Theodore before looking around. There was no sign of the snitch yet, but she knew she needed to focus if she wanted to see it before her competition. She didn't want to disappoint Brendan or make him think he had picked a bad co-captain. She also kept an eye on the other players. No longer could she just focus on her own part of the game. She had to keep an eye on her team.

As practice began, Nadine's nerves reached an all time high. She mounted her broom and kicked off with the rest of the team, her eyes wide as she took in everything around her. They all seemed so serious and dedicated and so much older than her. She really wasn't sure how she was doing to do during this practice. Startled, she realized she was near the falling Quaffle. As if on instinct, she grabbed it. Then realized that meant she had to try scoring. With her heart beating quickly, the young chaser started flying to the hoops. Hopefully, she wouldn't fail spectacularly today.

Maia hit the skies the moment the whistle was blown. It was nice knowing that she wouldn't have to worry about not getting the core spot anymore. She scanned the skies for Bludgers whilst flying circles around the Pitch.

Fletcher smiled as her teammates circled the skies, and she watched as one of the newest players caught the Quaffle and headed for the hoops. Flying close to the girl in case a bludger tried to go for her, the red head stayed on the look out for the incoming danger.

Celine was slightly surprised to see the newest chaser get to the Quaffle first, but she smiled at the girl's willingness to get involved with the practice right away. With a watchful eye kept on the girl, Celine readied herself in front of the posts - she wouldn't, and shouldn't, go easy on the newcomer.

Elvira noticed Fletcher trailing the new chaser as she approached the hoops. It was a nice move, as it probably helped make the girl feel safe. She tried to focus herself on finding the snitch, but Elvira was starting to realize it wasn't so easy to keep an eye on everyone and search for the snitch too.

The redheaded beater followed Nadine to the hoops, and Nadine gave Fletcher a quick smile before focusing on the keeper. She was a much older girl, and Nadine suddenly felt nervous as she approached. As she threw the Quaffle, she immediately knew it was an easy save. And it was. Disappointed, she flew off to do a lap around the pitch.

Not long after Maia took to the skies a bludger came right for her. Tightening her grip on the bat in her right hand, the Beater watched as it flew towards her. When it was close enough to hit it properly she swung her arm and hit the iron ball hard. At first she thought that it went off course but with a curve saw the bludger going straight for Elvira. Hopefully Fletcher, or the alternate, Grace, would be able to stop the ball from hurting their co-captain.

After the younger Chaser tried to score, she gave her a reassuring smile before heading off to continue her hunt for a bludger. Fletcher spotted Maia hitting a bludger in the corner of her eye, and quickly following the trail with her eyes she realised who it was headed for. Pushing forwards on her broom she tried to catch up to the ball, but it crossed her path in front of her just as the wooden end met up with the path. Although she grimaced at the realisation she'd failed to push it off course, she was thankful that it hadn't just snapped her broomstick.
