Bake-off

Muggles' festivals sounded very interesting, at least the way that Elvera was describing them. Muggles knew how to entertain themselves even without magic in their hands.
He smiled when Elvera mentioned that she had a lot of reading to do when he refered to the different divination techniques he had come across in his life and he nodded as she explained how she knew about the local teams.
"I think you'll have more people now talking about quidditch stuff." he said with a shrug as it was a topic that was bringing a lot during his conversations with other people.
"It's like being a seer and not taking divination for your electives." he explained with a grin the analogy with a more familiar example for her. Knowing his cousin, Icarus could tell that he was probably going to choose muggle studies as he liked as well muggles' stuff and he knew already a few things about them.
Time seemed to fly when he was hanging around with Elvera. He hadn't realized what time it was until she pointed out.

"Oh I see." he said as she explained to him about her patrolling duties. "Unfrtunately, you can't apparate from here, you'll have to get out the way you came." he replied to her question and stood up. He received her hug, wishing it could last a little bit longer. "I might not have to come to the castle today as I have no duties but I'll escort you to the exit." he said and waited for her to take her things at the doorway, opening the door for her.
Stars where shimmering in the night sky above them. The trees of the olive grove were decorated with golden, tiny lights as thousand of fireflies were resting among the silver leaves. Crickets were orchestrated their sounds in the silence of the night, only disturbed by the distant neighs of the horses. "We didn't bring only magical creatures from back home." he pointed out as they were passing through the grove. A fiery dance erupted around them as the fireflies starting flying away from the trees, disturbed by the appearance of humans. "You are welcome to come here whenever you want. I really had a great time with you." he spoke honestly as the were taking the path that soon took them at the long pillar, in front of the concealed entrance. Icarus raised his hand and dropped it vertically, in a slow motion. The ground trembled underneath their feet and the fissure reappeared on the rocky walls, creating the narrow passageway that was leading back to the desert. "See you soon." he said as he hugged her this time. As he slowly pulled away, his cheek stroke hers and then he made eye contact. It was like her eyes magnetized him and his lips met hers with a gentle, lingering touch. He felt like the sounds of the night stopped around his and there were delighful chills going up and down his spine. He pulled away, reluctantly, needing more of her lips' taste but he was afraid of her reaction.

Elvera shook her head thoughtfully when Icarus said that there would be a lot more people talking about quidditch stuff around her soon. "you never know, I may actually become a fan in the future. with a sister and a friend playing, I wot know which team to support if you play against each other." she said. although she didn't think about it she was becoming slightly more into the sport, she had even seen the match at the school a few months back, and had been glad that slytherclaw had won. "thats one way to but it. it's in your blood so you had better learn how it works sort of thing, or you will be taught it regardless of if you want to or not" she said
Elvera had sort of guessed that if they couldn't apparate into the house they wouldn't be able to apparate out of it either. "bye thalia" she called to the imp as she left picking up her gloves remembering them at the last minute as she passed the table where they had been left.
she thanked him as he waited holding the door for her. she wished she hadn't promised to do this patrol, so that she didn't have to rush back like this, she had been enjoying their conversation. she followed him along the path out of the sanctuary, as she walked she realised that the trees were all lit up, and the lights were starting to dance around them. At first she thought that it was some kind of magic or illusion, but then she realised that they were actually hundreds of insects, flying around surprised when their passion had disturbed the cool night air. "wow, those are beautiful, it is like some different world here at night with the fireflys" she said in awe. it really was something that caught some part of your sole and imagination.
all too soon they were at a stone cliff face. they stopped as a narrow passage opened. she felt him give her a hug as the pillar dropped to the ground. Elvera could feel that is was more than just a friendship hug. as they parted she looked at him and their cheeks brushed each other and eyes met. she knew what was a bout to happen before it did, and that had nothing to do with being a seer. their lips touched she kissed him briefly back as her world exploded. images started flitting through her head, she couldn't control them they gust came. Icarus on a broom in robes of red, blue and yellow. she would have to ask lil what team that was. him in the stables looking after some of winged horses, and a load of other images mixed in, they flashed by so quick that one hardly had time to register one before it was replaced by the next. it ended with a view of them like a photo taken from the path she was about to go. they parted and she looked at him again trying to read his expression. she knew she liked icarus, she had done for a wile, but she didn't think that he liked her in that way, why should he? he was going to be a famous sport star, and she was just her, a teacher of a subject that hardly anyone took, and a shop owner who didn't get out much. her sisters were the one who all the boys were after, confident Eden, and brilliant Lilith. That was why she had stuck to saying they were just friends, better friends than nothing right?

As his lips parted hers, he felt them burning like flames. He knew that she wanted that kiss a well but he didn't know what to say. It was the first time that he had trouble to speak to a woman about what he did, had he felt.
For a moment, his desire was going to drive him closer to her lips once more but his mind instructed him not to do so. It looked like he was trapped in some kind of beautiful dream with all those fire bugs flying around them.
He tried to find the right words inside him but he didn't know what exactly was even happening at that moment.
"I'm sorry about what just happened. I didn't mean to make you feel uncomfortable. I...I just felt it and went with it." he finally managed to speak. Listening to his words, he was feeling rediculous and stupid. When he was trying to fix something, he was always making it worse. He would feel really sorry if his impulsive action would cost him Elvera. She might have gotten offended as she was standing in front of him silent, trying to recover from the shock of the intense moment. He wondered what was going on in her head. What was going to be her impression after this about him. "Please, say something. I feel like a complete idiot." he said with a shake of his head. He couldn't believe that he could have harmed the only friendship he had forged since he had arrived in New Zealand.

Elvera felt her face heating up as they separated a blush spreading across her cheeks. She heard him talking but it too her a moment for her brain to process the meaning from the chain of words. It was too busy trying to work out what had happened. She hadn’t been able to ‘see’ icarus for months, not that she had been trying, but often she would to get flashes of at least something from people as she saw even if it was what they would be eating for breakfast the following morning. But not icarus. But the moment it was like the dam that had been blocking him had been opened briefly. ”there is no need to apologize. It wasn’t like I tried to stop you” she said looking at the floor and letting some of her hair fall across her face trying to hide some of her insicurity. She really hadn’t had much experience of anything like this. Sort of sad really that she was twenty and hadn’t had a relationship or fling, or even flirted with a boy before. It wasn’t that she was trying to be noble or anything it was just that she hadn’t seen herself as the kind of person who guys would like. And she had thought being lone as better than being left broken, she had seen what had happened to Morgan and Eden when the man they had loved left them, and she didn’t think she would be strong enough to deal with it. Elvera Looked at Icarus not sure what to say or do, when he asked her to say something she thought for a moment. ”what is there to say? There is no need to feel like an idiot. I think it’s safe to say that we both wanted that a little bit, and there are some things that just happen. That was one of them. only time will tell why” she said mentally adding and if anything will come of it, or if it will just get forgotten”.
They stood there for a few moments the awkward silence dragging out between them. ”well I had better go before Cyndi fiunds out I’m late. But will you be in the castle tomorrow? Maybe we could talk then?” she said. She wanted to know what he thought of what had happened, as she would hate for this to break their friendship. Her was her closest friend in the school, and one of her few friends. She waited for his response before heading along the passage as she put her gloves on as she knew she wouldn’t be able to keep her mental walls up in the castle and didn’t want tob be overloaded. Then once she was out at the end she turned on the spot vanishing, and reappearing by the castle gates.

Icarus hoped that Elvera's words would make him feel better. It seemed that she wanted it as much as he did.
He felt at least his guilt being casted away. He liked the idea of not rushing things and just enjoy the moment.
Although the moment was strangely charged. He had never felt that torrent of different emotions flowing within him before and he was clueless, how he should manage that delicate situation.
Although Elvera had accepted his kiss, he could sense even without divination powers that she was quite thoughtful. He couldn't decode however, just by her expression what was that, that was troubling her mind.
He tried to say something that could lighten the atmosphere but the awkwardness lingered.
She was the one that decided to talk and break the silence.
"Yes, I'll be at the castle tommorow. Better talk then." he agreed with a nod and tried to reach her hands. He gave up his attempt as she had already turned around, entering the path that the cracked stone had created.
He sighed and shook his head as she disappeared in the darkness. He kept watching at the small gorge until the earth underneath his feet trembled again and the gorge turned into a fissure again and back to solid, stone wall.
That informed him that Elvera had left. He turned back to the path that was leading to his house, mechanically walking through the olive grove. He had a lot of scattered thoughts to put in order in his confused head.
