Professor Kingsley very much enjoyed her breaks. She liked being able to enjoy her home and her children and the small reprieve from lessons. She was never truly free from lecturing, she had teenagers and a young daughter, after all, but there were breaks here and there. The woman had some music playing in her kitchen as she continued to work on baking cookies. It had felt like just the thing to do when she'd felt the chill in the air when she'd left her bed earlier that day. She had invited her colleague to come with her children for the day, eager to share the day with the woman. Her note had been on Cyndi's mind since she'd received it, and she was still just as touched by the message.

The woman finally put the second tray in the oven, and then wiped her hands on her apron as she settled into one of the chairs at her dining room table. She hummed to the song on the radio, glancing towards the living room at Jacob and Eleanor as they played a game of gobstones. Jacob seemed to be winning because she could hear him cackle every now and then and Eleanor threaten to quit.

the holiday break had been welcome for Elvera. not that she was stopping working she was just using the time to get back on top of things in the shop and to give Alana a bit of time off to spend with her daughter. today however Alana was back at the shop and she had the day off with her girls as she had been invited over to her friend's house and was looking forward to seeing Cyndi again outside of work.
The girls didn't seem particularly excited at the prospect of visiting one of the professor's house. helia especially said he would rather spend the day with morgan in the garden. and Selene agreed though she could tell that he older daughter was more agreeing out of obligation and she actually was looking forward to meeting the runes professor before the year started as she had found one of her old runes books on the windowsill where she knew Selene liked to read at night.
they reached the house and Elvera knocked on the door. she had brought along some little sausage rolls for them and the children if they wanted any still warm from the oven and in a box charmed to maintain the food in the exact state as it was when it was placed inside. heliana had insisted that she bring an old muggle camera she had found and was enjoying playing with taking pictures of things mainly her cat, and Selene had brought along a book. as Elvera waited she smiled thinking how much she was looking forward to reconnecting with her old friend.

A smile crossed the woman's face as she heard a knock. She rose from her seat and quickly reached the door, opening it with a pleasant greeting to her colleague. "Elvera, girls, come on in" she stated, taking a step back to let them in. She knew the twin's names but wasn't great at identifying between the two. She smiled as she noticed one held a camera, knowing that Jacob would like that. He was also into photography and owned both muggle and magical cameras, though she hadn't seen him use either in a while. Jacob was off on his own more these days; it was only the threat of rain that was keeping him home today, she was sure. Or she was certain he'd have been off to see his friends or attempt to hang out with his older cousins. Eleanor often attached herself to older girls, wanting to show off her dolls and things so she was sure her youngest would have a ball today. "Jacob and Eleanor are playing gobstones in the living room if you'd like to join them. I have cookies that'll be done baking soon" she added as she shut the door behind them all.

Turning to her colleague, Cyndi grinned again. "How's your break been going? Come, we can go into the kitchen" she continued as she turned to head that way. The kitchen was a little warm and she used magic to open the window slightly to allow the Autumn breeze in.

Elvera smiled as her friend answered the door and welcomed them inside. "Hey Cyndi. Thank you. for inviting us over. I brought some sausage rolls which are ready whenever you want them" she said. as she made her way inside. the girls followed her in she could see Helena's expression change. she knows what sparked the change. it changed from the day was being spent with the professors to a day spent with the Gryffindor quidditch captain. she knew that her youngest twin was in a different house but she was also a big fan of quidditch. she suddenly had a picture of her youngest sister as the blonde twin made her way over to the boy with a confidence that she knew didn't come from her. she watched as Selene made her way to a chair and started to read. "I hope that heli doesn't annoy Jacob too much" she said watching them. for a second before following her friend
"It smells great in here Cyndi" she said as she entered the room. it really did smell amaxing. that was one of the things she loved about cooking was how nice it made everything smell. especially as cyndi opened the window and let some crisp fresh air mix into the smell. "My break is going well. I am using it to catch up with work in the shop which is well overdue. how is yours going?
