Apparition Exam

Irene Finch had specifically asked for the tables to be left in place for the exam. If the sixth years were going to be licensed, then they would need to possess the ability to work with their surroundings. Apparating across an empty room was convenient for beginners to practice, but the chances of apparating to a truly empty space were going to be slim to none in the real world. There'd be tree filled forests, garbage strewn alleys, and perhaps, when they were lucky, the occasional field or valley. This would be an especially important test for those students who were interested in careers in the Ministry as apparating was a requirement for many of the positions. It was an important skill, allowing independence of movement.

Irene arrived at the castle just in time to greet the students who were waiting just outside the Great Hall. The students were seated on the benches that had been provided to await their turn. "Good afternoon" she greeted, her icy blue eyes taking them in one by one. "In a moment, I'll begin calling you in alphabetically by your last name. Once I do, I'll ask you to apparate to a spot in the room. You will only get one shot. I will not pass you if even a hair, button, or shoelace remains where you once stood." Irene's gaze drifted by several students. Irene let them sit with that for a moment, wanting it to be clear because she hated the annoying begging for another chance that came when a student failed. She looked at their faces, wondering which ones she would be seeing in the courses that were provided by the Ministry throughout the year. Many people failed the exam on their first try, but the woman did nothing to reassure the students of this fact. It had been an interesting semester of lessons with this group, so she wasn't sure how successful they would be.

Stepping back into the room, where her clipboard was already charmed to take notes, Irene looked to be sure all was in order and then glanced at the list and called the first student forward. Once the student was inside, Irene shut the door tightly and began the exam.

Roleplay your character's attempt to apparate to a point in the room, you can godmod where Irene directed them. Don't forget that the Great Hall would look as it would on a regular day minus the students. :pYou will get an exam grade of A or T depending on whether you roleplay your character succeeding or failing. Extra credit will be given for the level of detail in your roleplay regardless of passing or failing. Feel free to godmod Irene if it is necessary to your roleplay. If you have any questions, message me. No replies will be accepted beyond Wednesday, the end of exam period!

Rory Styx stood among his classmates, awaiting his turn for the Apparition exam. Irene Finch's stern demeanour didn't help with his nerves, but he knew the importance of this test. The room was set up with tables scattered around, mimicking the cluttered environments they might face in the real world.

As the instructor began calling students alphabetically, Rory's heart raced. He watched as each of his peers stepped into the room, the door closing behind them, leaving him to imagine their success or failure. The weight of her words about precision and the single chance they had lingered in his mind.

Finally, it was Rory's turn. He took a deep breath, trying to steady himself. He knew he had practiced enough, but the pressure of the exam made everything feel uncertain. Stepping forward when his name was called, he entered the room and felt Ms Finch's eyes on him, scrutinizing his every move.

Rory glanced around, noting the designated spot he was supposed to apparate to. He visualized it in his mind, focusing on every detail to ensure his entire body would make it to the target without leaving any part behind. With a final deep breath, he turned on the spot, feeling the familiar sensation of being squeezed through a tight tube.

The next moment, Rory found himself standing exactly where he had visualized. He quickly checked himself, relieved to find that nothing was left behind. The instructor’s expression remained unreadable as she made a note on her clipboard. Rory waited for her verdict, hoping he had done enough to pass.

After a tense moment, Ms Finch gave a curt nod, signalling he had succeeded. Rory felt a wave of relief wash over him. He had done it. As he exited the room, he couldn't help but smile slightly, feeling a sense of accomplishment and looking forward to celebrating this small victory with his friends later.

Todd wanted this. No, Todd needed this! He'd successfully apparated in the practice sessions and knew he could pass the apparition test if he stayed focused and remembered the three D's. Fortunately for him, being a "C" surname meant he didn’t have to wait long for his turn. He could get it over with and, fingers crossed, pass with flying colours.

Stepping up, Todd surveyed his starting point. It was trickier with all the tables still around, but he understood why they hadn't cleared the hall. Taking a deep breath, he locked onto his destination, concentrating on how much he wanted to be there. He turned on the spot, vanished, and then reappeared in the designated spot.

Looking around, then back at Irene, he felt confident. He was pretty sure it had worked, but he waited for confirmation. When Irene finally nodded and told him he’d passed, Todd couldn't contain his excitement. He jumped up, fist-pumping the air. "Yes! Thank you! Thank you!"

In his excitement, he lunged for a celebratory hug with Irene but missed entirely, or perhaps she sidestepped. Who knew? Probably for the best, though. It didn’t matter—he had passed!

Emmanuel was very very ready for this. Very ready for being able to do it, pass the exam and then never have to think about it again. The teen was waiting, going over in his head everything they’d learnt, thinking about what they’d been taught and how to do it, and how it felt when it happened. Everything. He was determined to do well enough in this that he didn’t need to retake it. He looked to the teacher as she greeted them, and then nodded at what she said, that certainly added to the pressure of it.

It did take a while before it was his turn, but he used the time to go over and over what he needed to make sure it was exceedingly clear in his head exactly what he was to do. The teen smiled as he was finally invited in. Putting all of the books and things aside. He let his mind clear, he knew this, he’d managed before, he could manage again. The teen stood where he was asked to and then looked to where he needed to go.

The room still being filled with what it was normally, was a bit annoying, given that they hadn’t learnt like that but he knew it would be fine. He focused and emptied his mind. Letting himself focus on where he wanted to end up. The spot he was to go. He followed the steps he was supposed to and after far too long finally felt the tug, and was transported to the spot. Cleanly, perfectly. Emmanuel was very very pleased with himself.
