Irene stood in her Ministry robes looking as poised as ever as she awaited the sixth years' arrival. Today, they'd finally get some practice in. She knew that some students had experience with side-along apparition, but doing it alone was a very different experience. They'd soon find that out for themselves. It was one thing to go along for the ride, and quite another thing to be the person who had to remember the 3 Ds and execute them perfectly.

"Let's go. You don't have all day and neither do I." Irene Finch urged the students forward impatiently as the first student walked tentatively through the open Great Hall doors. She took roll as they entered, shutting the doors from the distraction of younger students who wanted to see what was happening. "You don't need to be on top of each other. Space yourselves out!" she stated, exasperation in her tone. Irene gave her wand a small flourish and a large wooden hoop appeared in front of each student, falling into place before them.

Looking around at their faces, Irene stared at each student for the briefest of moments, making judgments about their ability to succeed at the task before them. She had been doing this long enough that she was rarely wrong. "Alright, let us begin. Today, you will make your first attempts at apparating" she declared, her hands on her hips as she walked around. "Before we begin, however, can someone remind us of the three Ds?" she pointed to a student and nodded her head as they responded.

"Excellent" she stated. "Now that you've all been reminded of the three Ds, it is time to put them into practice. For your safety, one of your school nurses is here" she nodded towards the corner where the nurse was stationed. "If you splinch yourself, please remain in your spot and the nurse or I will come to you. No sense bleeding all over the place" she stated with a small shake of her head, not even thinking about how startling that sentence might seem to a muggleborn. She didn't explain splinching either. Sooner rather than later, she was sure they'd learn if they didn't already know. "Begin. I will be walking around."

Points will be given to the student who answers the question. RP the lesson.
If you'd like your character to splinch themselves, please speak with me first.
School nurse welcome!

With the last hogwarts celebration over, Minnie was focusing her attention on her classes and on her exams. She knew that she didn’t put as much work in as she had in the last year given that her exams were not all at the end of the year, but she was still keen to get ahead, be working hard and having good grades. She would have no one to show them to, though she was thinking about still going home at semester’s end, they wouldn’t care about her or her grades. But she didn’t want to not do as well as she could, on the off chance maybe they changed their mind, or how sometimes when parents grew older they wanted to reconnect to children and she’d rather have those perfect grades than not. THe ravenclaw was getting herself together, getting the books and notes, getting the completed homework, ensuring it was the right draft of the work and not the early pieces with usually only small mistakes. She always redid the homework and essays until they were perfect. Minnie finished getting herself ready and then headed out of the dorm. She was eager to get started on the week.

Minnie walked into the great hall for the second apparition lesson. She was very nervous about it and also very keen. She’d read every book she could find on the matter, she knew the professor had said it was something you had to work at but she couldn’t see how extra theory wouldn’t be good. She looked to the teacher as she spaced herself out from the other students. She wanted to raise her hand to speak but the woman picked someone else. With that recap they were just allowed to get started. Minnie looked at the hoop in front of her and then cleared her mind. It took a lot longer to do that part than minnie would ever admit. She focused on where she wanted to go, she focused on the three d’s. She made sure she was certain of it, made sure she was leaning into it, and before the lesson’s end she felt that tug and apparated to the hoop. It had taken her a little more than most it seemed but she’d managed it perfectly and she knew she just needed more practice, need to read the books back over and then next time she’d be quicker.

Daintree was keeping his flying up more so than his studying, he was really down to the bare minimum when it came to his studying and he knew he needed to really focus on it soon. It was getting close to the end of the semester and he didn’t want to end up not being able to continue any of his classes, but his mind really wasn’t in it which did make it quite difficult to focus on it. Studying took effort, homework took effort, and it was effort he wasn’t really keen on giving. Most of the time when this happened it would go away after a few days but it had been lingering on him a little while now, and he knew that eventually he would just need to get to work. He would have to, there was so much that needed to be done and though he had half of the classes he’d had in the year before the work that he had to do for all of them was increased and he needed to put more hours in even if he didn’t feel like it. He grabbed what he would need, getting whatever work he had to hand before heading out of the dorm room and reluctantly to class.

Daintee was pretty excited about finally actually getting to apparate. He was excited to learn about this section of magic, interested to be able to travel more quickly that he could on other magical transport and any muggle transport. He took a spot in the room and stood at a hoop. He listened to the teacher as she went back over what they’d done in the last class of it and then let them get started. Daintree was very ready for this. He focused on the hoop, thinking about the three D’s that the professor had listed and then thought really hard about where he wanted to go, where it was and it had to remain the only thing in his head. He took a few minutes before he felt anything and then he felt a tug. He let himself lean into it and with a crack was in the hoop. There wasn’t enough time for him to try again but he was pretty happy he had even managed it.

Eric had been a bit nervous about this lesson. Apparition was something he actually cared about, so if he failed it he would be pretty upset. He'd heard that his cousin had never learned to apparate, which was kind of pathetic. He also didn't like the teacher, even if only because she was from the Ministry. Eric had an immediate distrust of anyone who worked directly for his aunt. She also seemed to be trying too hard to scare them, which made Eric want to act out. But he had to bite his tongue, he couldn't fail this class because he acted out in class.

He stayed near Minnie as they walked into the great hall, finding a spot near her while still keeping the required distance. The teacher then asked them about the three D's, and Eric let someone else answer the question. It was a good reminder, though he still wasn't entirely sure what they even meant. He waited for an explanation, but the teacher didn't really tell them what to do. She just told them to focus on the three D's, which really wasn't all that helpful. Eric tried his best, but only grew more and more frustrated as he didn't get any results. It was only at the end of the lesson that he managed to apparate, appearing on the other side of the hoops instead of in the middle. He scowled and kicked the hoop away as the lesson wrapped up soon after that. He needed more practice, though he couldn't practice for this outside of this stupid class. He was in a bad mood when the lesson ended and practically stomped out of the hall.

Aisa was pretty torn up about the recent breakup with Adorah, though she was trying her best not to show it. Aisa was trying her best to focus on her lessons and keep herself distracted, though it wasn't easy with Adorah being in several of her classes. The Gryffindor had been pretty eager to learn apparition, so she was a bit early for the lesson. The Ministry lady told them to get into the Great Hall and space out. Aisa picked a spot in the back of the room, glancing down when a hoop appeared in front of her. The ministry lady asked them to repeat the three D's, and Aisa listened as a classmate listed them. Then, she told them to put them into practice without really explaining to them... how. But Aisa watched some of her classmates and tried to do the same things they were doing. She focused on the three D's and tried her best to think of nothing else. Eventually, she managed to appear in the hoop. She tried and managed a few more times, which reassured her a bit. She knew from her brother they would have to do it perfectly at the exam. Aisa kept practicing until the lesson was over.

Ryan was delayed for the second apparition lesson, so he literally ran the remaining steps to the Great Hall to just get to the beginning and not miss anything. He entered the hall at the very moment when a ministry representative had just started a lesson with the words that they did not have all day and then they had to stand so as not to disturb each other. Ryan did the same in a way that didn't bother anyone or anyone. It remained to be seen what awaited them in the lesson. It started with a question about three D's, but he let someone else answer it because he hadn't really recovered from the big run yet, so he was slowly recovering. Their task today was three Ds to be used in practice. At first he took a breath to calm himself from the race.

Until the breath was recovered, he realized how difficult it would be to concentrate in the lesson this time, but it had to be done so that in the end there would be satisfaction with a job well done. He took a place in the room and stood at the hoop. He tried to remember everything they did last time and also what was said a moment ago. Ryan focused on the hoop, then his mind flashed around the three D's where he wanted to get and had to focus very well on it. It took him a few minutes before he could feel anything, then it felt like a small jolt. He tried it several times, that by the end of the lesson everything was almost fine. The internship was not needed for a while, but it could be tried later. Until everything was over he went away from the Great Hall.

Hattie was in quite a good mood this week. She had gone to Brightstone Village and had bought lots of lollies that she had earned with her own money working at the Makutu Dinette during the holidays. It was a nice feeling being able to get rewarded for all of her hard work and she couldn’t wait to go back to her job and work there to earn some more money in a few week’s time when holidays commenced. The Ravenclaw made her way to her first class of the week, excited for what it was to bring as she kept thinking of the future and where it could take her.

Hattie entered the Great hall with the rest of the sixth years to attend her second apparition lesson. She spread out just as the ministry instructor had told them to and waited for the lesson to begin. They were going to start apparating today and Hattie couldn't help but feel slightly nervous, as she was sure a lot of her classmates also were. She listened as the instructor told them that they must remember the three d's. Hattie remembered them clearly and so she tried to stay confident as she stared at the hoop in front of her before beginning her first attempt. She closed her eyes as she tried to imagine herself standing in the middle of it. She opened them to see if she had moved after a few moments, but unfortunately she was still standing in the same place. With a sigh, Hattie just continued to try her best. Eventually, towards the end of the lesson, Hattie had successfully moved herself in the middle of the hoop and she couldn't be more happier with the result.

Sydney felt like they couldn’t get through their apparition lessons fast enough. Arriving in the hall, she’d pared down her uniform to the bare essentials, ready to finally get a chance to practice actual apparition. Their instructor went over the basics again, probably for the lower denominators in the class, before letting them get to their own practice with the hoops she’d summoned in front of everyone.

Sydney couldn’t help feeling smug when she caught sight of Eric struggling. Of course he’d struggle with any magic that he couldn’t brute force his way through. Focusing on her own hoop, Sydney took a breath, trusting her superior determination would get here there without any issue. It was annoying then when nothing seemed to be happening. Shaking her head, Sydney tried again, staring at the spot in the hoop and willing her body to appear there. It was only the awareness that she didn’t want anyone like Eric to notice her struggling that kept the noise of frustration down as Sydney noticed the time for the lesson was wrapping up and she’d achieved nothing. Furious, Sydney swept from the hall, sure it was just a fluke. She’d get it next time.

Sully was beyond keen to actually try apparition this week. It was actual teleporting. On the list of magical powers he'd always imagined as a kid, this one was pretty high up there. He tried not to get too antsy waiting as the instructor went over the three D's again, and Sully again had to try not to giggle like he had in previous lessons. At least he wasn't about to forget the concept any time soon.

Finally though, they had a hoop in front of them and a goal that Sully was ready to get to. He glanced over Aisa and Daintree, having to resist the urge to mess with his friends and instead focus on his own hoop. It seemed easy enough, magic tended to come easy to him and Sully just needed to visualize himself standing in the hoop and make it happen. It turned out it really was that easy though, Sully closing his eyes and seeing himself in the hoop, feeling the strange tugging motion of it and opening his eyes to find he was there. He let out a whoop of victory, quickly hopping from the hoop, nearly kicking it across the floor in the process, and hurrying to try again, grinning the entire time until the lesson was over.
