Harper had a tendency to leave her Halloween costume planning to the last minute, and this year was no exception. Unfortunately, after six years' worth of Halloween Feasts, she had exhausted her wardrobe of last-minute costume ideas. It was a good thing that she had magic at her disposal. This year, Harper had decided to combine two of her favorite things — bad wordplay and transfiguration — to turn herself into a "harpy." It would be impossible to move around if she turned her legs into actual bird legs and talons, so she'd opted for just transfiguring her arms into brown wings that were about half a metre long each. Harper had considered really taking advantage of the body horror involved with animagus transfigurations by turning into a Horus-like "reverse siren," but she figured she'd lose permission to transform unsupervised if Professor Abberline found out she was using her skills to terrify first years.
It didn't take long for Harper to realise that her "costume," while incredibly low-effort, came with a few downsides. Not having hands meant she couldn't participate in some of the activities, like the grindylow piñata. But the biggest drawback was that she couldn't eat — not unless she wanted to go bobbing for apples. Half the appeal of these events was the food, and Harper refused to miss out, especially since this would be her last Halloween Feast ever. It seemed she would have to (briefly) ditch her costume. Harper made her way over to one of the snack tables. In one swift motion, she transfigured her right wing into an arm, plucked a chocolate off a tray, popped it in her mouth, and then transfigured her arm back into a wing. As she sucked on the lolly, she caught sight of someone looking her way. "You didn't see that," she said with a grin.
