[Professor Kalif Styx]

Professor Styx led the two contestants to the stage, appointing them into the north or south part of the stage. He informed them of the rules, the points, and made sure they were aware of what not to do. He instructed, "Begin."

Out of Character:

The duel begins now. You have 24 hours to post, or face disqualification. Ensure that you use the spell list for guidance on age-appropriate spells, and read over the dueling rules and points system. If you are knocked out or otherwise disarmed/incapacitated, or if you run out of points, you will lose and the duel will end. Have fun! Be creative!

Spectators are allowed to post in this topic once per competitors post, but are forbidden from directly interfering with the duels. Duelers cannot cast spells at the spectators or face disqualification.

Oskar wasn't sure what he was doing here. He had failed last year and he didn't have high hopes. But he took his spot and bowed to Enoch, then it was off. He cast a shield charm quickly and took a breath before sending back a jelly legs jinx.

Enoch dodged out the way of Oskar's spell, and then cast quickly, hoping to get him a little off-guard, sending a trip jinx back.

Oskar was almost shocked to see that his spell caused his roommate to dodge out of the way. So much so he almost got thrown off himself. But he caught himself in time and cast a shield spell as he took a step back. "Expelliarmus!" he shot back.

Oskar's heart was racing as the duel went on. He could do this, at least that was what he was telling himself. He quietly hoped he might win quickly but realistically he knew that wasn't likely. He cast another shield cham in time and scrambled to think of what to cast next. "Stupefy!" he shot back, keeping things simple.

Oskar was momentarily confused as Enoch used the same spell again. It was a solid stragegy if all he was doing was waiting for his opponent to slip up his timing. And it almost worked. But dodged out of the way before sending back another spell. "Everte Statum!"
