@Morrie Ayre vs. @Violet Stark-West

Kahurangi had never helped run the duels before, but after having so much fun competing last year she had jumped at the chance to help out. Later on today she had a title to defend, but first she would get to monitor the students' duels, to see what they could do and maybe even get some ideas if any of them were particularly tricksy. Her first pair were two third years, and she made sure both duelists were in their proper positions before she spoke. "Alright, welcome to your first duel of the day. I expect a clean fight, but give it your all. On my mark, you may bow to your opponent, and begin. Ready?" She glanced back and forth between the two students, before giving a tiny nod. "Begin!"

The duel begins now. You have 24 hours from this to post your first reply, or face disqualification. Once both duelists have posted, you will have 24 hours from your opponents post to reply, or be disqualified. Ensure that you use the spell list for guidance on age-appropriate spells, and read over the dueling rules and points system. Please also remember site rules apply, including power/god modding. You can find the site rules here. Duels will run until there is a winner or until 6 IRL days have passed, in which case the winner will be chosen by RNG. If you are knocked out or otherwise disarmed/incapacitated, or if you run out of points, you will lose and the duel will end. Have fun!

As an added note: Spectators are allowed to post in this topic once per competitors post, but are forbidden from directly interfering with the duels.

Morrie was allowed back in the dueling chamber this year after being disqualified last year, and stood in front of one of her roommates that she did not like. She snorted a laugh when Professor Josephs said she was expecting a clean fight today. Morrie took out her wand, bowed to her opponent then cast, "Locomotor Mortis!" She said, then added, "Your hair looks nice today Violet, have you washed it?"

Violet looked at the coupling list for the duels and found her name on the list next to. Morrie. she groaned. why did she had to fight against her pain of a roomate. who always came across as thinking she was better than anyone else.
she got up on the stand and smiled sweetly at Morrie before listening to professor Josephs' introduction. she bowed to morrie and then to the professor her wand in her hand ready. She was a second too slow to cast the first spell but she did manage to cast "protago" and get a shield up in time so she wasn't hit. She chuckled at the girls comment. "Aww thank you Morrie, you noticed. washed styled blowdried, because didnt you hear professor Josephs, she wants us to fight clean. "[/ b] she said. before she she cast a "Stupefy"

Morrie yawned and side stepped the stunning spell, clearly unimpressed with it and not considering it important enough to bother blocking. “Of course I noticed!” she replied, more interested in the trash talk than the duel, “It’s hard not to when you’ve clearly spent more time on your hair than on your spells." When Violet mentioned the professor’s request for a clean fight, Morrie rolled her eyes. That was never going to happen, she lowered her wand a little and aimed at Violet's shoes, "Incendio!"

Vi rolled her eyes at Morries comment. "oh honey that was just a warm up" she said with the kind of faux sweetness that left a bitter chemical aftertaste in ones mouth. it seemed however that Marnie was unimpressed.
The redhead however seemed to not want to play it cool as she sent a jet of fire, like actual fire at her. She stepped back, and the flames hit the stage in front of her, causing it to start to smoke. in front of her and she wasn't sure if the smoke was a sign of flames to come. she raised her wand and cast the first spell that game to mind, the antler jinx.

The jinx hit her and Morrie felt a strange pressure as antlers started to grow out of her skull. She looked at Violet, furious, "You’ve got to be kidding me!" she growled. Normally, she'd fire off a hex back, but her rage got the better of her. Instead of casting, Morrie gritted her teeth, bent low, and charged at Violet like an enraged moose. She aimed to ram Violet right off the dueling platform with her new antlers.

Violet had not expected her spell to hit target. but as a pair of beautiful antlers erupted out of Marnie's head, she couldn't help but chuckle. "aww its cute, you look like some kind of forest fairy" she said the words more genuine than the tone made them out to be.
she readied herself for whatever spell was to come flying her way. what she did not expect was for the thing to fly her way to be about five foot four and pointy in more ways than one. she had a second to think about what to do, she wished she had a red sheet like a matador. she guessed she could have used her jumper but she certainly didn't have time to take it off before marnie reached her besides she liked this one it was comfortable. instead she raised her wand waited a second until marnie was almost at her and then cast the trip jinx before attempting to sidestep the charge though she realised she ad left it too late and while she had left the main impact zone she hadn't quite reached the safe zone.

Action(s) Taken: spell hit, dodge, cast spell.

((OOC: if you want to have marnie partially colide with Violet as she didn't get fully out of the way on time you are more than welcome to))

Morrie charged forward with the grace of a stampeding garden gnome but just as she was about to make impact, Violet's trip jinx hit her legs. In the most unceremonious fashion possible, Morrie tripped. Her momentum carried her forward, grazing her opponent and she careened off the edge of the platform, the antlers breaking her fall onto the stone floor. Morrie took a moment to breathe and it looked like the duel was over until she decided it was a clever idea to send a token "Stupefy" towards Violet.

Watching the kids trade blows back and forth felt quicker as a referee than it had as an audience member, and Kahurangi was caught entirely off guard for a moment when things escalated beyond trading spells. As soon as she snapped back to attention she cast a wide shield between the girls, blocking Morrie's spell smoothly. "That's enough!" She said firmly. "You know physical violence is against the rules, Morrie. Your behaviour was completely unacceptable." She moved closer to check the girls over, dispelling the horns as she assessed whether either of them needed a nurse's attention.

OOCOut of Character:
Due to a breach of rule 5, @Morrie Ayre is disqualified and @Violet Stark-West is the winner!

Morrie glared at Professor Josephs, her head feeling lighter now that the antlers were gone. She crossed her arms, trying to look indifferent but clearly sulking at being disqualified from the dueling tournament two years running. "I hardly touched her." She mumbled in defence, not happy about being told off by a professor either.

Violet was suprised when her spell hit home and Morrie went tumbling over the edge of the stage. or maybe her spell had nothing to do with Morrie's fall either way it was spectacular and chaotic. and as morrie left the stage she was pleased that she had won. she turned to the professor to bow her respect and just as she did she felt something wizz paster her and realised the professor had blocked something coming her way. she looked at morrie on the floor she felt glad that she had beat her though disappointed she hadn't really morrie had faugh dirty and been disqualified leaving her as the winner. she looked around the chamber to see who had seen before looking back at morrie now antler free. as the professor came closer she hopped off the stage the opposite side to her room mate. "I'm fine professor. i don't think her heard head will leave any kind of mark she said before clearing out of the way for the next duel.
