James always enjoyed the duelling tournaments when he had been a student so he was more than happy to help out now that he was staff. He was still getting used to the students so he wouldn't know all of them that he oversaw. He instructed his first two students to their positions so they could begin their duel. "Welcome to your first duel, take your positions and we'll begin, I want a nice clean duel from the two of you, when I say so you will begin," James waited for the pair to get into position before he let them start. "Begin,"

The duel begins now. You have 24 hours to post, or face disqualification. Ensure that you use the spell list for guidance on age-appropriate spells, and read over the dueling rules and points system. If you are knocked out or otherwise disarmed/incapacitated, or if you run out of points, you will lose and the duel will end. Have fun! Be creative!

Spectators are allowed to post in this topic once per competitors post, but are forbidden from directly interfering with the duels. Duellers cannot cast spells at the spectators or face disqualification.

Oskar was looking forward to dueling. He has been ok at it at his old school. He was eager to be ok at something again. For something to feel familiar. Once he was ready and given the signal to start he bowed quickly and shot off his first spell. "Stupefy!"

Milo wasn't going to lie, he found duels pretty goofy, but he'd also realized they were an excuse to start hucking jinxes around at his classmates and well, who was he to turn that down. He'd been busy doing an elaborate bow when Oskar started the duel off immediately hurling a stunning charm this way and he jumped out of the way with a squawk. "Wow, serious much," he said, throwing back a fur-growing charm in return.

Oskar felt himself grin slightly when the other boy had to jump out of the way of his spell. That was a good sign. But it quickly fell at his comment. He would have rolled his eyes if it wouldn't mean breaking his line of sight. This was serious. He was ready as Milo cast a spell that he was able to block. Just as quick as before he fired off his next spell. "Expelliarmus!"

It was crazy, here they had a free pass to throw whatever hexes and jinxes they wanted at each other and Oskar was just trying to disarm him? Milo almost felt insulted, throw up a shield charm and wincing some as the spell collided with it, not totally certain it was going to hold. When it looked like he was safe though, he hurriedly returned fire with a knee-reversing jinx, more than keen to see what that one looked like

Oskar took deep and steady breaths as he watched Milo closely. The other boy managed a shield charm but he wasn’t worried. He was ready when the spell came his way and he blocked it with one of his own. Without missing a beat he was ready with his next spell on his tongue. “Furnunculus!”

Milo squinted at Oskar as he annoyingly blocked his jinx. He didn't know the Slytherin very well but he had to wonder if the guy was even having any fun with this. It was a thought he had to cut short though, hurrying to try a raise a shield charm when Oskar shot a spell his way again. The shield wavered as the spell as Milo waved his wand but didn't hold and Milo let out a yip as the spell hit him firm in the chest, groaning and wincing at the sudden unpleasant pain as boils began sprouting under his robes and up across the backs of his hands. "Ow, ew gross, c'mon man!" Milo griped, angrily attempting a wobbly antler jinx to return fire, though he suspected his aim was pretty off as the movement pulled painfully at his newly bumpy skin.

Oskar was a little shocked when his spell hit and for a moment he felt a pang of guilt. But it wasn’t his fault Milo had moved too slow. But if he was lucky he could put them both out of their misery. The other boy managed to fire off another spell but Oskar was ready with a shield. “Stupefy!” He shot back quickly.
