Yvonne stepped up to the dueling platform and greeted the students with a warm smile. She was pleased to be back proctoring the tournament again and was looking forward to seeing how the students would do. It was a good way to show off what they had learned in their lessons after all. "Welcome to this year's tournament." she said brightly. "The winner of this round will be moving on to the next. Be sure to keep things fair and no funny business or you will be disqualified." Yvonne added trying to seem stern with most likely mixed results. "Now you may face your opponent and bow before beginning. Good luck to you both!"

The duel begins now. You have 24 hours from this to post your first reply, or face disqualification. Once both duelists have posted, you will have 24 hours from your opponents post to reply, or be disqualified. Ensure that you use the spell list for guidance on age-appropriate spells, and read over the dueling rules and points system. Please also remember site rules apply, including power/god modding. You can find the site rules. Duels will run until there is a winner or until 6 IRL days have passed, in which case the winner will be chosen by RNG. If you are knocked out or otherwise disarmed/incapacitated, or if you run out of points, you will lose and the duel will end. Have fun!

As an added note: Spectators are allowed to post in this topic once per competitors post, but are forbidden from directly interfering with the duels.

Aurora felt a little bad that her first fight in this duelling was against Monday. She didn't like fighting with people who were her friends but this came as part of the tournament. The teen gave a little smile to Monday as she bowed. She didn't think she'd win any of the duels this time, but at least she had won once. When in position she raised her wand and cast a quick, Jelly Brain Jinx.[

Monday Weeks never thought of himself as a duelist, but thought that this could be some fun. That was the whole reason why he signed up. And now, he was face to face with one of his friends. He bowed and gave her a smile as if to wish her luck. Whether or not she would need it was beyond him. He turned and went to his position and readied himself. She was fast, but he managed to block the spell with a Protego. Since he didn't want to hurt her, he thought fast and intoned, "Confundo!" That wouldn't cause harm, surely.

Aurora wasn't sure if she should be polite with her friend and only cast non-threatening spells but she blocked Monday's spell and then cast a "Rictusempra," back. A slightly simple spell, but a good one in her mind.

Figured that both of them would probably be taking it easy on each other. But Monday knew that he would have to change it down the road. He managed to dodge the spell before he was hit because that was not good for his pride. "Tarantallegra!" he countered.

Aurora was a little distracted as he dodged the spell, and only just managed to block the spell he sent to her. She fired back a Knee-reversing hex.

Monday didn't have enough time to put up a shield when he was hit by the knee reversing hex. That was fairly weird feeling, if not painful. He knew that one strong spell he could be knocked over if he didn't think quickly. He used Finite to get his knees back before he fell over. He hated using this, but he needed to step his game up. "Reducto!"

Monday had a moment to use finite on his knees to get them back where he needed them to be. He had to dodge the spell that she used, which was a bit harsh as well. He thought fast and cast the Jelly Fingers curse toward Aurora.

Aurora felt pretty good about how she was managing this duel. She knew that having won it once, meant there was some pressure to do well. Or people might call it a fluke, but she knew more important she should just enjoy this. Aurora blocked his spell, knowing that a jelly fingers spell would slow her down. She fired back quickly, "Densaugeo,"

Monday was glad that Aurora was a fighter, and wouldn't make this easy. He put up the shield to block the spell that would make his teeth grow like beavers. That would be hideous. So, he shot back, "Petrificus Totalus."
