Landon had to admit that he felt quite honoured to be hosting the Yule Ball that year. He had never done so before, and so felt a lot of pressure as well to uphold the tradition in the best way that he could. He also wanted to add his own touch to it however, feeling as though the students would appreciate him mixing it up a little.
The man chose some house elves to help him set up the hall. The usual tables were gone and replaced with a dance floor and smaller round tables around it. Food and drinks tables were situated around the room with various snacks and food for them to choose from, with a floral tablecloth covering the top. A large tree stood in the centre of the room, creating a statement as glitter shone through the branches and various ornaments hung from them, including some ones that he had made himself from flowers in his garden that he hoped some select students would enjoy. Presents were tucked neatly underneath the tree, filled with presents from chocolate and candy and handy utensils such as quills and notebooks for the students to use. A sign next to them said “Open if you please.”
Once the room had been set up, Landon added the final touch as he enchanted the ceiling to have specks of snow falling from it, creating the illusion of a white Christmas that many students living in New Zealand would never experience. He hoped it would also make the students from other countries feel a little bit more at home.
As the students had arrived and were seated, Landon took a step up to the podium with a beaming smile across his face. “Welcome to this year’s Yule Ball! Please enjoy your night and help yourselves to all of the food and beverages you desire. And of course, the presents under the tree are free for everyone to take as well. You have from now until midnight to have a spectacular time!”
