Y40 Sorting Ceremony

Richard wasn't worried at all, because all the excitement was gone as soon as he got off the train. It completely disappeared as soon as they sailed across the lake. The lake looked black, but you could see the reflection of a bright moon. This made him wonder if he had made the right choice for school, so as soon as he got off the boat, Richard realized that he had made the right choice. He was ready to study here.

Everyone had already gathered in the Great hall. Richard, along with the others, stood on the steps where Sorting Hat stood on the bench. He meets will be the last on the list. One by one the students went to their hats and put on their heads and were sorted into their towers. Richard didn't even know which tower he wanted to be in, because none of the family had studied Hogwarts before.

Then came his turn was named after him "Richard Wright". He went upstairs, then took his hat in his hand. ''Hello, dear Sorting Hat. I don't know which house I want to enter. I'll let you choose that. I want my family to be proud of me.'' He said quietly, but knew the hat could hear him. It remained to be seen what her decision would be.

"It is my choice where you go, but I'll always consider what you want....you would fit easily into any of the houses, but I believe you'll excel best in Gryffindor,"

Aurora Archer was very eager to finally be here. She'd heard so many stories, from practically all branches of her family, a hufflepuf aunt, a slytherin dad, a gryffindor uncle, a ravenclaw brother, rarely a family gather went by without her hearing about this place, and finally it was her turn, with her twin sister at her side, they were both at long last here. The train ride had been fun but long, and the closer she got the more difficult it became to hide the bubbling excitement. She just wanted to get sorted, sit down, eat her food and be a part of this school. To be able to see the library that she had always heard so much about, to be able to go the quidditch pitch and see where her mother, her two aunts, her uncle and her brother had played. There was so much history in these walls for her and she hadn't even begun making her own. She had spent the train ride with Rosie, and they'd met a boy who Aurora could spot within the crowd of new students as they were waiting to head in. She spotted Kiara and waved at the girl, stopping short from inviting the girl to come stand with her and her twin, mostly because the doors had opened and she was following the group into the hall.

Aurora had seen pictures of Hogwarts but really nothing was quite mlike the way the hall looked, the way the table sat, the way the pictures didn't do justice to how high the ceiling was. The way the candles reflected in the light. She spotted Branson at the Ravenclaw table and waved excitedly at him. She stopped as the other students did, and took Rosie's hand and moved through the other students until they were more in the crowd and could see the hat better. She'd heard about this, about what the hat would do so many times, how it had felt or sounded but she listened closely and enjoyed the song. She had believed the hat was a better singer, than it ended up being but it was enjoyable and she thought it was quite a way to start this. She had to imagine it was a real shock to see a hat sing like that if you didn't know if was coming. But Aurora had and she cheered loudly not dropping Rosie's hand as she did so.

With that done though and a surname beginning with A it wasn't long until Aurora's name was called. She squeezed her sister's hand and confident rushed forward. She found her brother's gaze in the crowd and then her sisters, looking to her family for the reassurance as the hat was placed on her head. Aurora knew she would fine no matter where she ended up, her family would be proud no matter where she landed. Aurora also knew where she wanted to be but, it was up to the hat to make the final choice.

"You would succeed in Ravenclaw but you'll do great in...Gryffindor!"

Rosie Archer couldn't deny that she felt excitement over the fact they were almost there, almost sorted. Rosie was a calmer type, she got excited about things but was more likely to take things and moments calmly, to let her excitement wash away slowly and give way to more calm. This however, finally being sorted, that was so exciting. Rosie knew it didn't really mean much in the grand scheme of things, she'd get her house and be amongst them for seven years, but it wouldn't matter which, because she knew who you were at the beginning and at the end could change. She had family in all the houses, and knew that they were all good people and that was all they should ever aim to be. Good. Rosie did stick close by her sister, she knew they were likely to get split up, their mother was a twin who hadn't shared a house, but until they were Rosie would stick by her.

Rosie walked with the crowd into the hall, waving excitedly with Aurora at their brother at the Ravenclaw table. She had to admire her brother's brains, she didn't think she'd be good enough for such a house but it was cool to her that he was. Rosie knew if she did end up in the same house as him that it would be fun. She'd make it work. Rosie allowed herself to pulled through some of the first years for a better view, and was apologising to the first years they ended up cutting in front of. Rosie smiled fondly at the sorting hat as it sang its song. She took the moments of his singing to look around the room, to learn the shape and size of the hall she was going to be spending a whole lot of time in for the next seven years. It certainly lived up to its name. She cheered along with others at the end of the song, turning her attention back to the proceedings. She heard Aurora's name and squeezed her hand back, watching as sister was sorted first. Then of course, came Rosie's name.

Rosie somewhat nervously flexed her own hand, wishing perhaps that she would've gone first and would've been able to get the reassurance from Aurora. But she moved forward sitting down on the stool and immediately spotted her sister at her new table. She gave her sister a warm and vibrant smile, only for her before the hat was placed on her name. The name of her sister's house sitting on her tongue. She wanted to follow her, but knew it was probably unlikely.

"It's time for you to forge your own path. You're just as loyal as your sister and more deserving. Now it's time for you to believe it. Gryffindor!"

Amelie can't wait to be sorted, she doesn't know how it works because her father didn't go to Hogwarts when he was a little wizard but she'll try to understand it. Mr. Nedakh was a Beauxbatons and she thought they'll be going there as well but she waited for her acceptance letter until Hogwarts New Zealand came. Looking around the Great Hall, she felt happy for once because she can make friends without her sister being around. She's sure Anna would make friends of her own as well.

Once the sorting had began, she clapped unenthusiastically on the people who got sorted into their house. When it was Anna's turn, Amelie sigh, wishing that they won't be in the same house. Gryffindor, try not to go there, Amelie. She thought to herself.
"Nedakh, Amelie!" Called the Headmistress. She had shoved the person in front of her lightly to get pass them. The hat felt warm once she sat on the stool, she doesn't know how this all work. Some of the people who got sorted only took a minute for them to have their houses.

This is my first time and I don't really know what I'm doing. I guess just don't put me with my sister, she's annoying like our mum. She doesn't know why she hates their mum, maybe because she knows why she and her dad separated. She's the lady that you just sorted into Gryffindor or whatever you call it. She said to no one, Amelie hope the hat can hear her.

"This is everyone's first and last time with me..the good news for you is that Gryffindor....that's not the house for you, so you'd don't need to worry....You will fair far better and find your greatness in.....Slytherin,"

The whole path went to Henry like in a surreal dream. He doesn't talk much and didn't pay attention to himself, he watches. And there was something - everything was so much and so new! On the train, however, he had dug into a thick book on the use of plants for memories and many other things, so the beautiful views passed unnoticed, as well as a whole lot of events that had only been heard about in the distance. While riding the boat, Henry clasped himself in his hand from time to time, making sure he wasn't dreaming. When he arrived at the castle, it was already clear, but it was hard to believe. There were sounds all around and - wow! how old castle. There was really a lot to see here. Waking up from the trance, Henry looked around with open eyes, unable to say a word. It was so weird to be here. Is there really a place for him here? They brought the old hat, which needed to be sorted. And so tell me that this old, torn hat will start reading his soul and put him in a house. However, it provided a good insight into the choice of towers. Which tower will I be destined to be in? But which one would I like? Brave, wise, cunning and friendly ... Who is the strongest in me? How do you know that Hat?When he named Henry, he continued to wait to see who would go now and where he would divorce. Realizing that he was the one to be sorted, the boy turned a little pale and hurried to his hat. With his hat on Miller's head, he wanted to shake off, but restrained himself. It feels weird. Emm ... There was a feeling something had to be said. That would be polite. But talk to a hat? E ... Good evening! Can you hear me Em ... Something else had to be said, but what?

"Hello to you too, I can hear you. Nothing needs to be said, not until I've picked where you'll go. You're quite adventurous, but also you definitely enjoy learning......Ravenclaw,"

Antaras could feel his blood rushing in his ears as he stepped into the Great Hall of Hogwarts NZ. He looked up at the enchanted ceiling as he was herded to the front of the Hall with the throng of First Years. It was one thing to read about something in a book - Hogwarts, A History had plenty of things to say about Hogwarts, indeed - but it was something else altogether to experience it in person.

"Edason, Antaras!" Antaras startled when he heard his name called, having not been really paying attention to what was going on around him. That's when he realized it was his time to be Sorted. He hurried past the other First Years in his way, and jammed the Sorting Hat on his head, waiting with bated breath to see what the Sorting Hat would say about him.

"Hmmm....well, aren't you a curious person, there's a deep desire to learn, a thirst for knowledge, any knowledge...if it weren't for this little pocket of courage, it would almost make this choice too easy....but that wouldn't suit you as much as this will.....Ravenclaw!"

Leanna still wasn't sure what to think of magic now that she was actually at the place where she would learn all of the different branches of magic. It was odd knowing that there was a whole other world out there in which wizards and witches would go to some sort of boarding school to learn all about magic while all of her family went to a normal school to learn about maths and history and geography. It almost felt wrong to her to be here without her older brothers, to learn about whatever this new world meant while they were stuck in their world. Of course, there was nothing that she could do about that, though if she could have, there was no doubt in her mind that she would have taken them along with her so that she wouldn't be alone in this. Once the initial shock of finding out that magic had been real after all had settled down, however, it was actually quite thrilling to know that she was a witch and that she would learn about all the things her school books had mentioned.

She quietly followed the other first-year students to the front of the hall, often glancing around to see what was happening around her. She had read about Hogwarts in one of her school books but never would have guessed that so many young people attended it. It made her wonder if she had ever walked past any of them in her hometown. Once the Headmistress began to welcome all of them, Leanna tried her best to follow what the woman was saying, though found it difficult not to look around the hall some more. She knew that she'd have plenty of time to do so later but everything was just very interesting at the moment. Thankfully, she had started paying attention again when the Headmistress told them that they were to sit on the stool when their name was being called out. Which, luckily for her, didn't take all that long. She made her way through the crowd of first-years when it was her turn and sat down on the stool carefully, waiting patiently for whatever the Hat was going to say to her.

"Magic is a wonderful thing. You don't have to take my word for it though because you'll see for yourself soon enough. Now I just need to figure out where you'll be as you do that. All of the houses have their own unique feature. You'll figure that out too because you're a clever one. Off to...Ravenclaw!"

Evie was nervous. She tried to stay close to her best friend as they came into the castle. She was in awe of all of it. They were in a castle. A castle. She was staring in awe up at the ceiling, thinking it was the most beautiful thing she had ever seen. She looked up front as the headmistress started to talk. It was a lot to take in, and she was starting to feel a bit overwhelmed. She blinked as the hat began to sing, staring at it. She whimpered slightly when Aaliyah was called up first.

Evie stood stock still as the crowd slowly thinned out. Oh, why did her last name have to be Moss? She was perfectly tense by the time she was called up. She shuffled up to the stool, staring at her feet intently as she sat down. Please put me somewhere pleasant, Mr. hat. Ms. hat? Brilliant hat, She winced at the thought, giving up almost immediately and deciding the hat probably wasn't going to appreciate her debating on its gender.

"Brilliant hat is the one. I'm the smartest hat you'll ever meet! And I've got an important decision to make for you so let's see here... oh yes, mmhmm mhmm... but what about...that's the one. Now I see where to place you. You'll thank me one day. Better be... Gryffindor!"

Aaliyah marveled at how big the hall was. Its name fit. This even made her wonder what other rooms the castle held. She just hoped they had a piano somewhere she could use. She followed the small group toward the front of the hall. She glanced around at the long tables on both sides full of older students who were looking at them. They reached the front and the sorting ceremony began. They were called alphabetically which meant Aaliyah did not have to wait longer before - "Chun, Aaliyah." Yep, her turn now. She walked to the front and sat on the wooden stool before the hat was placed on her head. Hello! Not really fussed where you put me but does the castle have a piano I can play on? , she cheekily asked the hat. Her mother told her the hat could look into her thoughts and desires so why not ask him that, right?

"The castle holds many secrets. I'm sure it has a piano too, but I don't have hands so I've never gone searching for one! I know that's important to you though. I can see everything that's important to you, you know? It's my job! And the house for you will certainly be up for helping you explore and find a piano...Gryffindor!"

Sefina had known this day was coming as soon as she’d watched Tilly disappear onto the Hogwarts Express so many years ago. Still, it didn’t feel real. She kept to herself as she absorbed everything around her. The ceiling, the crowds of students, the line of professors and staff at the front of the room. What would this all be like? She’d heard some of it from Tilly, sure, but her older sister never noticed the small details. Sefina picked her out easily in the Hufflepuff section, and smiled shyly when Tilly waved at her. She turned her attention back to the students in front of her and watched as the hat deliberated on their heads. Gryffindor, Hufflepuff, Ravenclaw, Slytherin… Sefina had absolutely no idea where she’d land.

Hello there, Sorting Hat, Sefina thought to herself, or really, to the hat. I bet you’re smarter than everyone in this room combined. She didn’t mean it sarcastically. Just, to pick through the minds of so many people and put them in the right place- that took a lot of brainpower. And probably patience.

"I am. Brilliant minds helped give me the magic I have, the founders of the four houses, in fact. Ah, you have family in Hufflepuff, I see. You'd settle in nicely there but it wouldn't help you with your goals. No, I've got a different house in mind for you. Good luck!...Ravenclaw!"

Pasty looked down while covering her face as she felt nervous of the witches and wizards around her. She hated crowded places and wanted to the sorting to end faster..

She sighed softly when she wasn't called yet so she closed her eyes and decided to distract herself by thinking about being in the Slytherin or Ravenclaw. When she heard her name being called she quickly walked up to the hat and looked down again, She felt even more nervous when they were looking at her and hoped for this to be over.

"You're easy to place so I won't delay. SLYTHERIN!"

Seren walked hand-in-hand with her best friend Faith through the huge wooden doors that led to the Great Hall, past hundreds of older-looking students murmuring excitedly to each other on long, grand tables. They appeared to be eyeing her group. Seren felt a tinge of embarrassment about feeling new and inexperienced.

Seren, having been born to muggle parents, decided to focus her gaze at the peculiar things in front of her. Some she had seen in Diagon Alley, of course, and had started to look familiar to her—but some, like the bewitched clear ceiling that mimics the sky, demanded her attention.

Faith, being a full-blooded witch from a long line of professors of different magical schools, had already seen the wonders of Hogwarts from generations’ worth of photo albums. Feeling right at home, she didn’t feel the need to look around.

There was one thing that she was looking forward to see at Hogwarts though. Faith scanned the line of students under the large yellow banner on the ceiling, decorated by an emblem with a badger. Nearing the long table where the professors’ table, finally, her eyes caught those of her older brother’s who had on the proudest smile on his face. Faith couldn’t help but mimic it.

She was finally here with her brother.

Beside her, Seren studied as many people as she could. Some of these people had always known that they could do magic, just like the owner of the hands interlocked with hers. Some, like Faith, had been exposed to magic since birth and had probably known every useful thing that they could do with it. Some, like everyone seated at the hall, had already known so much more about magic than she did.

While the thought frightened her, Seren already had an approach in mind. First, she would stick to the most knowledgable students and squeeze all information that she could get from them. She would make sure to catch up to them to eliminate her disadvantage. Then, she would absorb more lessons than anyone ever could. During that process, people would recognize her as the smartest and most charming student at Hogwarts. And then she would rule the school. And then she would rule the world.

Seren hopped in anticipation at the genius plan forming in her mind. Faith glanced at her with an amused look on her face, and then back to the row of students under a bright yellow banner. Seren peeked over Faith’s shoulders and caught a glimpse of Ethan before the group of freshmen halted, nearly bumping heads with the boy in front of her.

Seren couldn’t tell if the tug in her heart was due to almost falling on her face in front of all those people… or if it was from catching Ethan’s eyes.

Finally, a professor stepped forward and introduced herself as Headmistress Katherine Alicastell. As she said her speech and noted the dangers of the Forbidden Forest, Seren wondered if the headmistress would be impressed by her cunning mind. Surely, the smartest and most influential professors would be teaching at Hogwarts, as she heard it from Faith to be the best magic school there is.

She listened with determination at the singing hat on the stool.

Ravenclaw would be the most ideal choice for her, she thought, but Gryffindor sounds like the house in which the most powerful come from. She was definitely hard-working, but did she care about fair-play?

Before Seren could start to wonder about Slytherin, she was called to attention when the professor started to call names.

Faith Alexander was called third. She squeezed Seren’s hand in excitement, hopped on the stool, gave Seren a wink, and shuddered as the hat was placed on her head. It only took a few seconds until the hat announced, “Hufflepuff!”

The students under the yellow banner cheered as she ran toward them with the silliest grin on her face. Seren watched as Ethan greeted her with a big bear hug and a sweet kiss on the forehead. Despite having hung out with each other on the Hogwarts Express, it was clear that Ethan wanted Faith to be with her during the four remaining years of his student life.

After a moment, they both faced Seren. With Ethan’s arm still wrapped around his sister, he gave her an encouraging smile and a thumbs up with his free hand.

Watching them together, Seren decided that it didn’t matter where she was as long as she could be with them, wherever that would be. She didn’t care about loyalty and tolerance, but she loved Faith too much that she’d at least tolerate being with these do-gooders for seven years if it meant being with her best friend.

Seren turned back at the headmistress as she resumed calling students onto the stool. Finally, after the sixth cheer died down from the Gryffindors, Serendipity Cole was called. She stepped onto the platform with a decided look on her face, unaware that the hat knew her better than she knew herself. It was only when she sat on the stool that she felt the aura held by the students under the green banner.

Ambitious. Intimidating. Powerful.

So this was Slytherin.

Suddenly, Seren was confused about what she really wanted. But before she could start to think through her choices, the hat was dropped onto her head and she was cut off by the voice that seemed to come from inside her head.

With a defeated sigh, she decided to close her eyes and let the hat make the decision for her.

"Placing you isn't going to be difficult. All of the important stuff comes right to the forefront. You're not a Hufflepuff, but I think you already knew that. No, for you it'll be...Slytherin!"

Lex can't process whats happening right now. Her eyes keep wandering around. Everything seems magical. She's so nervous to the point that she wants to puke. Yesterday she was just arguing with her grandma over the dishes living her normal life, laughing at every book he read..

But now she's her..

Wodering where she belongs..

Inhale

Exhale

Inhale

Exhale

It feels like forever waiting to call her name. She wants to end this she has no one to talk even the girl next to her look anxious but some are not.

how can they manage to be calm? he thought.

she Closed her eyes and clasped her finger, biting her lips and keep chanting..

calm down, calm down, calm down...

Axeliee Flores!
She heard that.

That's my name! Yeah, my name.

She stand anxiously and walk in the aisle everyone is looking at her and it makes her more nervous. She keeps playing with her nails as she reach the chair.

This is it. she speak in her mind

She open her eyes and gaze at the sorting hat as it put on her head.
next thing he knew is her house...

"Keep on breathing, I wouldn't want you to pass out before I place you in a house. There's nothing to be nervous about anyway. I'm just deciding your house for the next seven years, and you'll make of it what you will. I can see you're not usually this nervous which is good because your house isn't known for nerves. They're known for ambition and tradition...Slytherin!"

The young Lestrange stood proudly while waiting for her name to be called.

She examined the hall and imagined how life would be for her in 7 years in Hogwarts. As much as she wants to strive for the best she knows she wants to meet great company that would be with her through ups and downs.

Her family's expectations are somehow extreme which is why she hopes to find people who her family would approve of too because as much as constricting it is coming from a influential family, she loves her parents so much.

and there the young Lestrange who seeks greatness and unimaginable achievements stood with this thoughts in mind.

"You've got strong ambitions and goals here. I know just where to place you...Slytherin!"

Hazel was trying not to feel overwhelmed throughout the whole experience, but the train ride had elevated her nerves. She wasn't sure what was worse, the amount of people in the room or the fact that they were all staring at the group she was standing in. She tried to ignore them and focus on what the headmistress was saying. Only just hearing her name when it was called, she ignored the roaring in the ears and sat on the chair, thinking about how glad she was going to be when this was over.

"Oh, you're quite nervous aren't you. You shouldn't be though because you're in the right place. You belong here! Now I just need to figure out a house for you...that was easy enough...Ravenclaw!"

Suddenly, all the ceremony of high school back home didn't seem so bad.

Sure, there was ceremony alright, judging by what her older siblings had said. They went to the most prestigious schools (as her parents were keen to point out at every opportunity - along with "Aine, why don't you join a netball team, it'll look really good for sending you off to a good school"). But this was a whole other level. She couldn't even begin to put it in to words, really.

She only barely knew what she was in for, after all.

Vicky had told her, of course. She'd explained that there were four houses and unlike houses at schools at home, they actually seemed to matter beyond sports days. It would influence your life. Still, Vicky had stressed, it was important not to let it define you. People could change a lot from when they were 11. "Life comes at you fast, kiddo," she had said. "Sometimes it throws you in a wringer and you come out as someone else."

Aine didn't know why she was the catalyst for this conversation. She was only 11.

Her mind kept jumping from place to place until she vaguely heard her name being called.

"Aine Thompson?"

Oh dear. She hoped they hadn't called her name a couple of times. It was like when she'd go get a hot chocolate at the nearby cafe and they would have to call her name a couple of times until she noticed...

Sucking in a deep breath of air, Aine started walking up on shaking legs. She barely even knew why she was so nervous - but nervous she was, and as she sat down she awaited the judgement of a hat.

It's going to take a while to get used to this, isn't it?

"That's what I hear, but you seem to have a good head of shoulders to get used to it all. A bridge between worlds...a bridge between worlds. You'd do well in Ravenclaw, you're a bit logical and analytical, but it seems you need a bit more warmth than Ravenclaw might provide. It'll be...Hufflepuff!"

Valentina hadn't seen much of her brother on the train ride to school which while disappointing hadn't been completely surprising. She spent most of the time on her own preparing herself for the new school year ahead of her. It had not come as surprise when Valentina received her letter as she had seen her brother go off to the school a few years prior but it had come at great disappointment to her. It had always been difficult for her to make friends and she finally felt like she was at a point in her life where she had a good group and she was leaving them all behind to attend Hogwarts. She would see them over the holidays but things between them would never be the same again.

The journey was over before she knew it and in no time at all Valentina found herself standing in the Great hall. Her brother somewhere along the Gryffindor table, she hoped she would join him but other than that desire she had no real idea where she would sit. One by one names were read out before it was finally Valentina's turn. She collected herself in preparation for being on display to the whole school and took her place on the stool.

"You're a...Gryffindor!"

The Sorting Ceremony

Kristine never thought she would be here… she thought that hogwarts is just a fictional school that she reads or watch in harry potter series at the muggle world but it was real… It feels like a dream... A beautiful dream

The Night Sky it’s so beautiful...

Professor McGonagall is speaking

“ When I call your name you will come forth, I shall place the Sorting Hat on your head, and you will be sorted into your houses.

She was so excited to be sorted and nervous at the same time

I wonder what Hogwarts house I will be sorted
Slytherin..
Gryffindor...
Hufflepuff...
or Ravenclaw...

‘ stop overthinking it ’

“ Kristine Erica Anis? ”

She takes a deep breath as she sat down nervously

She was getting nervous by the time passed. She looked to her surroundings, seeing all the students talking to each other while she was there alone. The sorting hat was doing its work and she was getting more and more anxious with the idea of the teacher calling her name to sort her. Which will be her house...?

"It's pretty normal to be nervous. It's probably your first time being around this many magical people your age, right? But I'll let you in on a secret...most of them are nervous too. It'll pass soon enough once you settle into your house which is...Slytherin!"

The majesty of the castle and it's splendid architecture was only partially lost on Demetrius as he passed through and into the main hall. His heart pounded in his chest, and his nerves half-blinded him to his surroundings.

This isn't normal. None of this is normal.

If Demetrius believed pinching himself would be of any aid, he would have done it. But as it were, he simply followed the crowd and steeled himself to not show any of what he was feeling. There were people here who had looked forward to this all their lives, and never had he felt more in the dark than now. But no one needed to know that.

Distantly, like a voice calling out in the midst of a dream, he heard his name. Standing tall and raising his head, he walked to the stool and waited for his house to be called. His mind was oddly calm as the sorting hat rested upon his head.

"I can see that you want to make your parents proud, but what is it that you want? Maybe you don't know yet but it's my job to see your potential, and you'll reach it in...Hufflepuff!"

Iman was feeling anxious again. It wasn't a surprise though, because she always felt like that. At this rate, she forgot how it felt to actually not feel anxious. Everything was so new to her. Just days before this, she had been told she was going to study at this new magical school, and just a few days ago she was in Beirut. Now she was here, all alone. She didn't know anyone. Was she the only one in a hijab?

Watching the other students get sorted made her more anxious. She knew nothing about the different houses, and what if she didn't belong? Iman looked down worriedly at her feet, hoping she was back home with her family.

Hearing her name being called, Iman took a deep breath and made her way up to get sorted.

It was time.

"Oh don't worry yourself about whether you belong or not. If you made if this far, you're in the right spot. You're here to learn magic just like everyone else. Now let's see which house you'll be in...hmm...ah yes, I see now...Hufflepuff!"

Bia has waited for this day since she was a child. Her relatives had often talked about their days back in school, and Bia was a hundred percent sure she was going to have as much as fun as they did, or more.

She loved studying and she was determined to study as hard as she could. Even if it meant having lots of sleepless nights. She believed in that sleep was for the weak, and she was going to excel.

As she watched her fellow first years get sorted into their houses, Bia took note of each of their names. She was very good at remembing names and she wanted to introduce herself to them after or during any chance she could in the future.

Bia got up eagerly when her name was called, letting destiny sort her into the house she was going to shine in.

"You're a hard worker, a trait that will fare well for you in your house...Hufflepuff!"

Flora waited patiently for her turn to get sorted. Her parents were from different houses, and she didn't know which parent she would follow. There was a chance she could sorted into a different house altogether. Flora didn't really have a preference. She just wanted to sit down, and make new friends regardless of the house she got into.

"Saffitz, Flora"

The girl headed to the stool, repeating the process that the other first years had gone through.

"I'll have you out of here in no time. You're a...Slytherin!"
