Juniper had been a little surprised when Minnie had told her about handing down the captain spot to her. Of course, she knew she deserved it, but she also had thought Minnie would make her co-captain last year. After the letdown of the duel to Ajax, Juniper really had to step up her game. She couldn't let Ravenclaw lose, she couldn't lose the dueling tournament her last year, and she was going to be the best darn SDA co-president ever.

As she took the field and looked at the updated roster, she knew about half of the team would likely be green, but she hoped many of the previous alternates would try out again so they at least have some familiarity with the process. Once everyone made it onto the pitch, she cleared her throat and looked over them. "Alright, mates. Current members get back into it and help out the potential new players. Those trying out, when it's your turn, state your name and position or positions you're looking at. I'm looking for strong potential so we can claim the cup this year. Don't be afraid to be aggressive." With that, she looked to the line of hopefuls and waited for them to start and she began hovering on her broom. She'd probably knock a few bludgers at them as they tried out seeing as Chloe was gone, but maybe she'd recruit Finn to help during tryouts if he was still wanting to play.

Returning players are guaranteed their spots as long as they post attendance in this thread before tryouts are over. Returning alternates must try out again.

First years must PM me if they want to try out. No first years will be allowed to try out unless there are not enough older students.

Thanks, everyone, and good luck!

Hamish made his way down to the pitch. He wasn't sure if he would make the team again, but he wanted to try, especially with Minnie graduated. He might have a chance of being a permanent member. He stepped forward, smiling at the new captain. He remembered her from last year, Juniper or some other tree-like name. "My name is Hamish Reid. I'm trying out for Seeker again this year," he told her, just hoping she remembered him from practices.

He took off into the air with the others. Practice was long, but not as hard as he remembered it being last year. His practicing with Seamus over break must have paid off. He managed to catch the snitch three times over the try-outs, holding it up for the captain each time he did. Before he knew it the time was up and they were all returning to the ground. He gave the captain one last wave before heading back to the castle.

Branson was so ready for this season of quidditch, he was very eager for it. The boy arrived at the pitch bright and early as the try-outs got started. He nodded to the new captain, knowing that Juniper would do well, she was a good player and then when he could shot up into the air and began practicing with the new possible chasers.

Xiuying hurridly made her way towards the Quidditch pitch, excited to try out for the Quidditch team again. She was only an alternate last year. But she had been practising throughout her break, hoping to get better than she was last. To be completely honest, she wasn't sure if she'd make it on the team permanently this year, but she wanted to try again, and she wasn't giving up any time soon. The Ravenclaw stepped forward and smiled at the captain. "My name's Xiuying Huang, and I'm trying out for chaser again," Xiuying says with a small smile.

Xiuying then immediately took off into the air, managed to get the quaffle a couple of times, also managing to get the quaffle into the hoops a couple of times, while only missing a few, which she felt embarrassed about. She also managed to pass the quaffle around with her teammates a couple of times as well. It wasn't long till the try-outs were over and she had made it back to land again. Xiuying felt that she had done slightly better than she did last year. She gave a quick wave and thanked the captain before heading back to the castle.

If Finn hadn't known what he was doing at Quidditch tryouts for a second time in a row, he definitely didn't know what he was doing, showing up for a third year. Despite Odette's tuition and years of practice playing as an alternate, Finn didn't know if he was actually getting any better. Minnie had taken pity on him for all these years, but he didn't think Juniper would do the same, especially being a Beater herself. Which meant all he had done was show up to be humungously embarrassed. But he was here now, broom and bat in hand, and it was much too late to chicken out. He stepped forwards, though he would be surprised if his teammates didn't know him all too well by now from how bad he was. "Finn Madison, trying out for Beater again." He was surprised that his voice didn't shake, though his broom didn't do him the same kindness as he took off, gripping it tightly as he shot into the air. He made his way determinedly towards a bludger, flying as smoothly he was able, and when he reached the ball he reared back and gave it a smack, pleasantly surprised when his bat connected. Maybe this wouldn't be a total disaster. He winced as the metal ball ricocheted off the metal of one of the goalposts, sending a loud crashing sound around the pitch, but at least he had hit... something. Continuing on, Finn gradually got more comfortable on his broom and stopped wobbling quite so much, managing to hit a couple more bludgers before his time was up. All things told it definitely wasn't the worst he had ever played, though he knew his teammates would be familiar enough with his skills by now to know what to expect of him.

Sawyer wasn't too surprised to see Juniper in charge of the team this year, unable to resist a snort as she encouraged the new potentials to be aggressive. He raised a knowing eyebrow at her for it before taking off to help with tryouts as well as knock some of the dust off of his own flying. He'd played some with Felix over the break, but it was still nothing compared to playing on an actual pitch with team. Sawyer liked to think he was taking it easy on some of the new chasers trying out, but he was pretty sure he was a bit rusty too as he let more than a few goals in that he probably should have blocked before try outs were over.

Axel had learned a log during last year's tryout, namely that he wasn't ready to make the team. And he hadn't. But he'd taken that knowledge back home with him at the end of the school year and practiced for much of the summer. Most of his family had moved away suddenly in the summer but Axel's mom had stayed behind. For now, anyway. Axel was happy because it meant he got to try out for the Ravenclaw team again. So here he was. Axel waited his turn and then stepped up. "Uhhhh I'm Axel and I'm trying for Keeper."

Axel mounted his broom and flew up into the air, already doing a lot better than he'd done last time. There was another second year there, but he was thankfully going for a different position. Axel flew to the hoops and got himself ready for what was to come. It didn't take long before. He saved the first quaffle to come his way, the palm of his hand stinging from the effort. The second he missed but only by an arms length. He steadied himself and got back to it, saving a few more and missing a few more. By the time he was done, Axel's neck and palms were drenched in sweat. He'd done far better than last year. He knew it. Now it was up to the captain whether or not it was enough.

Tryouts will close in about 48 hours! At this point, first-year Ravenclaw students are welcome to tryout!

Valeria enjoyed quidditch though she had never played a competitive sport before in her life. Quidditch was fun to watch and something she had always played alone, her parents had never gone so far as to get her six other people to play with, and really sports had been the first thing cut from her tutors in the year before she'd come here. But with that in mind she had decided to come to the pitch to be able to at the very least try her hand at it. She had already decided to be a beater, that just seemed logically like THE spot for her. She wasn't one for violence but she did think it was the position she'd have the most success, she'd never been very good at catching things, hitting things had always been easier. She got to the pitch and excitedly waved to her brand new roommate, and when that girl had stepped forward she cheered, "Go Xiuying!" she said excitedly. Valeria eventually had to step forward and she did so happily. "Hello, I'm Valeria Iglesias, and Beater please, I'm no good with the quaffle," she said honestly with a little smile.

Valeria got on her broom and shot up into the air, this was an older model of broom, she had asked for a new one ahead of these try-outs but her parents had said that the brooms were out of stock, which she thought was odd, but wasn't exactly going to question it too much further. The Ravenclaw focused, she had a beaters bat in hand and began flying around, she was uncertain on the broom, having clearly very rarely flown with other people around, but as the time went on, she got better at it. She was hitting things pretty quickly, but not exactly well or on target. She managed a few pretty serious misses, which she playfully laughed off despite feeling very very frustrated by. Her mind was focused and she kept trying, she managed to hit a few well, and one even had a target, which felt very good. Overall, as Valeria came back to land she knew she had a lot to work on, but felt pretty happy with how she'd done. She doubted she'd make the team as a first string, but she didn't feel that bad about it.

Nick thought a lot about whether he should or shouldn't try out for the team, and after a conversation with his dad, he decided to give it a shot. It didn't matter whether he was going to make it, at least he had tried. He had been training a lot this summer, he and his whole bunch of relatives played Quidditch all the time, and with his dad being a Quidditch coach, his technique was pretty good. "Niklaus Easterling, chaser," he said and mounted the broom.

Nick looked out for the quaffle and tried to do some passing, and then aimed a few shots too. More than a half of them actually went through the hoops, and just a few of them were actually blocked, Niklaus wasn't sure if he actually was good at being a chaser or the keeper just went easy on him. Tho, he did a pretty good job and just hoped that he will make it to the team, he had been the quiet kid in the school for a too long time and he guessed that it was the time to actually become more visible, and make it to the Quidditch team would be pretty good for him. And he did a great job on that, he was even really tired after it.

Valerius wasn't sure why he had decided to try his hand at playing Quidditch. He made it to the pitch, standing in the back and watching the others. He stepped up himself. "Valerius Bianchi. I am trying out for seeker." He announced, taking to the skies. He flew around, having trouble trying to spot the snitch. He did manage it, twice, but he wasn't sure if he'd done well enough to make it onto the team, even as an alternate. He thanked the captain for letting him try out before leaving the pitch.
