Y38 Duelling Match #17

[Professor Matt Alcott-Ward]

Matt had surprised himself by agreeing to help out during the duelling tournament. He wasn't a very big duelist himself, but he had often enjoyed watching the duels. Once the two competitors seemed to be ready for the duel to begin, Matt pointed them to their places before speaking to them. "Welcome to your first round of duelling. The victor of this duel will be able to go on to the next round." Matt said. "If you break the rules, you'll be disqualified. Once you're unable to duel, you've lost." He explained. "When you're ready, bow to your opponent and get started." Matt said, stepping back to let the duel begin.

The duel begins now. You have 24 hours from this to post your first reply, or face disqualification. Once both duelists have posted, you will have 24 hours from your opponents post to reply, or be disqualified. Ensure that you use the spell list for guidance on age-appropriate spells, and read over the dueling rules and points system. Duels will run until there is a winner or until 6 IRL days have passed, in which case the winner will be chosen by RNG. If you are knocked out or otherwise disarmed/incapacitated, or if you run out of points, you will lose and the duel will end. Have fun!

As an added note: Spectators are allowed to post in this topic once per competitors post, but are forbidden from directly interfering with the duels.

Indi was still feeling good after winning her first match. She had seen the other boy around but mostly in lessons. He seemed nice enough but she was hoping he wouldn't be too much of a challenge for her. She gave him a curt nod before acting first and casting the jelly legs jinx.

Jordie was still reeling a bit after his disastrous talk with Branson. He wasn't too into this duel, not wanting to quit but not sure if he had it in him to duel. Acting mostly on instinct, he blocked her spell and shot off one of his own. "Stupefy!"

Indi smirked and easily cast a shield charm. She tried to size him up to see how hard this duel was going to be but she still couldn't tell if maybe he was just holding back. "Everte Statum!" she cast, hoping to get him off his feet or at least off balance.

Jordie tossed up the next shield spell, blocking her spell easily. He adjusted his stance, throwing out a spell of his own. "Locomotor Motis!" He yelled. He normally wasn't any good at spells, but acting on instinct seemed to make him stronger.

Indi frowned as he blocked her spell. But she wasn't worried. She was ready when he fired back his next spell and she blocked it with a shield charm of her own. "Stupefy!" she cast back.

Indi frowned as he blocked her spell again. She wished he would just get hit already and this could be over. She cast a shield charm and took a deep breath to steady herself. She didn't want to get too worked up and lose her focus. "Locomotor Mortis!" she cast next.

Indi had been slower than she realized and her opponent's spell managed to hit and before she could do anything she doubled over laughing. She was furious but the laughing wouldn't stop which just mad her more angry. With a fierce wave of her wand she cast the Knee-reversing hex at him.
