Y35 Duelling Match #18

[Katherine Alicastell]

It was the second wave of duels, and Katherine looked over the remaining competitors. For some, it would be the deciding duel of their year, while others still had another round to go before they could claim the title of Champion. The Headmistress allocated the newest pairs, and began to lead duelists to the platform. Taking up her own position overseeing them, she began, "Duelists, prepare yourselves. Bow and commence."

The duel begins now. You have 24 hours to post, or face disqualification. Ensure that you use the spell list for guidance on age-appropriate spells, and read over the dueling rules and points system. If you are knocked out or otherwise disarmed/incapacitated, or if you run out of points, you will lose and the duel will end. Have fun!

As an added note: Spectators are allowed to post in this topic once per competitors post, but are forbidden from directly interfering with the duels.

Ajaccio had never taken part in a duel before, but he was always looking for new experiences. However, as he bowed to the person he was duelling, hair wildly out of control, he felt a little nervous. He raised his wand and then when they were told to begin, he surprised even himself, by being the first to cast a quick trip jinx

Kas wasn't going to lie and say he'd expected to win his last duel, and now staring down another opponent he wasn't sure he was keen to do this again. It had been fun as long as his wand was behaving, but Kas had the looming awareness that that could change at any minute. He bowed to Ajaccio, trying to ready his wand as Ajax sent off his first spell. He was too slow on the draw though, only just managing to get off his own Everte Statum spell before letting out an undignified yelp as the trip jinx hit him and sent him to the floor. Duelling sucked, Kas had decided.

Ajax hadn't really thought his spell would hit, so he was a little surprised to see it do so. He let out a little excited sound at having managed it, feeling a little bad for his reaction. But that was duelling..he didn't have much time to celebrate as the boy's spell came racing towards him. He blocked the spell - barely - and then was quick to follow it up with a stupefy.

Kas barely had time to get to his feet before he had to try and block Ajaccio's next spell. His shield charm held, but barely, and Kas couldn't help but feel like his wand had already sensed weakness and was punishing him for it. Muttering under his breath, Kas tried to return fire with his own stunning spell, flinching when the spell shot off at a wild angle, more likely to stun Ajaccio's crazy hair than actually anything useful.

Ajax dodged out the way of the spell as it came towards him. He knew it would be better to get a shield up but the direct of it had him ducking more quickly. He sent "Rictusempra" back, knowing that if that spell hit, at least it would be a bit funny.

Kas felt like he was going to burst a blood vessel with how hard he was trying to force his wand to produce a shield charm, groaning when it was still no use and Ajaccio's jinx hit him. He was struggling enough already, and now he could barely get the words out around the laughter that started to roll through him. Kas could only help he didn't end up snorting or something as well. Then he'd look really silly. "St-hahaha-stu-stu-haaahahaha-stupify!" Kas managed between laughs, relieved when some semblance of a stunning spell finally shot off.

Ajax felt a little bad as the spell once again hit the boy, but. it was immediately replaced with little laughter from himself. It wasn't funny, but he couldn't help but find laugh a little contagious. He managed a weak shield between laughing and then was quick in a moment when his own chuckling has ceased to send back, "Petrificus Totalus"

Kas struggled with his shields on a good day, but now, with the laughter choking all his words, it was impossible. Ajaccio's spell hit him and Kas felt his entire body lock up before he hit the floor like a brick. He could feel the lingering urge to laugh still in control, but that paralysis kept his mouth and stomach locked tight.
