Y35 | Beauxbatons Quidditch Practice S2

Maneuvering her way past Simone and Nadine on her sweep back from mid-pitch, Orélie tried for an ambitious over head lob at the goal, swallowing a frustrated noise when Bijoux was able to block it again. It was good, she reminded herself, it was good that they had tight defenses. Brushing her braid over her shoulder, Orélie straightened up, not wanting Nadine to sense weakness. "Glad you're not taking it easy on me, Bibi," She called.

Simone managed to grab the quaffle as Bijoux threw it back into play and she started to make the lap around the pitch. It was nice to see Orelie and Nadine not being out right hostile for once. Keeping an eye out for bludgers she finished the lap at spotted @Nadine De Rosier open and she past it to her.

Following after Simone as Bijoux threw the quaffle back in, Orélie kept some distance, trying to stay open in case she needed to block or pass the quaffle.

Nadine grinned cheerfully at Simone as she passed the quaffle over to her, then flew up to the hoops quickly without even a glance at Orélie. She cheered as she managed to score again. This was definitely her practice.

Orélie tried not to let it get to her that Nadine scored again. Nadine was a good player, she knew that. And she was a good player too. She wordless gave Bijoux a nod of encouragement as she caught the quaffle, this time taking advantage of the half-lap run up to clear her head of the jealous feeling she had for the other two chasers.

Dodging around Simone and Nadine again, Orélie took another run up to the hoops, not able to keep down the frustrated noise when she was blocked agian. She just couldn't figure out what she was doing so differently from the other two that Bijoux could block her so easily. She took a few deep breaths through her nose, pointedly not looking at Nadine as she waited for the quaffle to come back into play.

"Good shot" Simone shouted to Orelie as she grabbed the quaffle after Bijoux blocked the shot. She could tell Orelie was frustrated and considering things between their little squad to begin with, she figured some words of encouragement would hopefully ease some of the tension she sensed building. She finished the half lap and looked to see if there was anyone open or if she should try and make the shot herself.

Orélie knew her shot hadn't been great and she tried not to bristle at Simone's comment on the off chance that she wasn't just taking Nadine's side and trying to rile her up. She gave Simone a tight smile instead, following after her on her half-lap to offer some support, though she didn't feel like trying her luck scoring again any time soon.

Grace was still feeling the tension in the air, but it was a bit less than last time. She was relieved that the captains had the sense not to bicker in front of the whole team during practice today. She sped up after a bludger that was close to hitting the chaser, and hit it with a satisfying whack. She watched as instead of going in the direction she wanted it to, away from the players on her side, it went after @Mualla Avar. She sighed, but continued to search for bludgers. At least she had managed to protect Orélie from being hit.

Nadine was pleased with how practice was going. She couldn't help wanting to show off a little more, and rub in how much better she was doing than Orélie. So she flew up to Simone, taking the quaffle from her before racing to the hoops. She managed to score again, and grinned in delight.

Penelope had been keeping an eye on things from above, and thinking she had spotted the snitch she took a dive down closer to the rest of the team, only to find nothing. Penelope thought to herself that it must have been the sunlight reflecting off of something, and felt disappointed for falling for it. For all she knew, it could have distracted her attention from actually spotting the snitch.

Orélie hung back a bit when it looked like Simone was going to pass, ready to be open in case she threw it her way. She was distracted by the whistle of a bludger, turning on her broom in time to see Grace knock it away, saving her from another nasty hit. "Mais la*, thanks, Grace," She said, genuinely relieved it seemed like the beaters were less intent on taking her out this practice. Unfortunately, the distraction had been enough for Nadine to get ahold of the quaffle and score again. Hands gripped tight on her broom, Orélie gave Grace another tense nod of thanks before zipping over to grab the quaffle from Bijoux, intent on knocking that smug smile of Nadine's face sooner or later.

*Cajun french for "I can't believe it/well then/oh my" etc

Simone sighed as Nadine scored again. She wanted to be happy and hopefully that they stood a fair chance with their rematch with Hogwarts but she knew that it would just lead to more fighting and she was tired of it. But she knew better then to bring it up now because at least they weren't fighting in the middle of practice anymore. So she stayed close by Orelie as she caught the quaffle ready to take the pass if needed.

As determined as Orèlie to score and rub it in Nadine's face, as she banked to circle back to the hoops, she couldn't shake the lingering doubts. The idea of missing again and having to deal with Nadine's stupid look made her stomach clench and Orélie gripped the quaffle tightly with her fingers before passing it over to @Simone Moreau-Chen. Maybe the sudden change of course would help them get past Bijoux crazy good defense.

Nadine flew after Simone and Orélie, but decided not to try and steal the quaffle this time. She didn't want to be accused later of not being a team player, so she just stayed nearby in case they wanted to pass to her.

Penelope looked down as the rest of the team danced around in the airspace beneath her, things seemed to be going pretty well. She was pleased to be able to keep to herself and took off on a lap around the pitch, her eyes never resting from the search for the snitch

Orélie watched Nadine like a hawk as she approached them, gratified that she had enough tact to back off for once. Her and Simone were still holding their own despite not being on the team for years like Nadine, but the least Nadine could do was give them some time to catch up anyway.

Simone grabbed the quaffle as Orelie passed it and raced to the goals. Watching out for stray bludgers, not wanting any distractions. She threw the ball with all she had, but the shot was blocked. She cursed, frustrated. She was glad Bijoux was holding her own but she still felt off.

Orélie sighed when Simone wasn't able to score either. She was starting to wonder if maybe Bijoux was taking it easy on Nadine on purpose, though it wouldn't really make sense. Both Bijoux and Simone had remained pretty neutral throughout Nadine's hissy fit over sharing captain with her, much to Orélie's annoyance. Grabbing the quaffle, Orélie took off for a quick lap, determined to try and make it in this time.

Determined, Orélie hurled the the quaffle at the hoops, pulling her broom to an abrupt halt to watch as it finally sailed in. "Yes!" She cheered, giving Bijoux a grateful look.

If Nadine muttered something like 'finally' under her breath as she flew past Orélie to grab the quaffle, she would deny it later. She ignored the other chasers as she grabbed it, shooting off to start on the half lap. It felt like time to score again to show Orélie who was the superior chaser.

Penelope was pleased to see that the chasers were making a few shots. Their last game had come down to her catching the snitch, if the Ilvermorney seeker had been even just a little quicker than Pip was then Ilvermorney would have won by a mile. Penelope took another lap, keeping an eye on everything.

Aidan had been looking forward to practice. He had enjoyed playing as chaser for the very very short match against Ilvermorny however he was pleased to get back to practice catching the snitch.

At the start of practice he took off into the air and kept his distance from Penelope, trying his luck to see if he could be in the right place at the right time. He took a few laps and as practice dragged on he could still see no signs of the snitch. He did his best to remain at the opposite end of the pitch from Penelope at all times.

It took all of Orélie's willpower to hold her tongue when Nadine proved she was still just as much of a brat this practice, watching as she took possession of the quaffle. It was tempting to chase after her and steal it back for another attempt, but while Orélie was confident in her ability to nab the quaffle, she didn't want to have to deal with Nadine if she missed the next shot again. Instead, she took the moment to check on where the rest of the team was, like a good captain. "Grace, Mualla, why don't you each take a seeker and mark them. It'll be good practice for defense for the game," She called to the beaters, pointing out where Penelope and Aiden were as she spoke.

“Way to go Orelie!” Simone cheered when the other girl managed to score, and followed Nadine in case she wanted to try and pass it.
