Orélie had almost been disappointed when she'd heard Beaux had managed to win their match against Ilvermorny. A part of her had hoped the team would flounder in her absence, but she knew that was stupid. It was good that they'd won, and good that the team was strong since they were going on to face Hogwarts NZ next. It had been a stupid decision to bail on the match in the first place, Orélie hadn't felt that well that morning, but she knew deep down she could have managed, a quick trip to the nurse would have set her right. But Nadine had insisted that she didn't need her to run the team, and Orélie vindictively had wanted to test that theory.
After the game, she'd been tempted to quit, but despite what Nadine thought, Orélie had earned her title as captain, just as much as Nadine had and she wasn't about to back down.

Her and Nadine had barely spoken after their fight last semester, their dorm a tense battleground, but Nadine had at least agreed to run practices with her and Orélie was making a point to arrive early, if only to make sure she was busy by the time Nadine arrived herself. She'd dragged the collection of balls out onto the field, stretching and scanning the patchy sky overhead. It was starting to warm up now as things headed into Spring, but there was still a definite chill in the air. Orélie sighed, trying to push the roiling animosity for her co-captain into the back so she could just focus on the games ahead as she waited for the team to arrive.

Nadine had been glad that they had won the previous match, as it proved that they didn't need Orélie to run things. She was curious to see how the other girl would do with this practice, and crossed her arms as she waited for her to speak. Last time, Orélie had been angry with Nadine for taking over, so she had expected the other girl to launch into things this time. But when an awkward silence began, Nadine realized it was up to her to break it. "Well, we all know the drill." She said, attempting to sound as cheerful as possible. "Beaters, try to aim for players but keep in mind that we don't want anyone in the hospital wing. Protect those who have already been hit." She said. "Chasers, try to take half a lap before scoring." She added. "And... have fun!" She released the balls, then glanced at Orélie. "Anything to add?" She asked sweetly.

Simone had tried to be late to practice but in her anxiousness she actually got there before most of the team. She had been glad to go home over winter break which wasn’t something she had ever felt before. But she desperately needed a break from Orelie and Nadine’s passive aggressive ...whatever they had going on. Simone hadn’t felt this uncomfortable since her parent’s divorce and she didn’t like to think about that at all. Thankfully there was no big speech before practice started and she was able to kick off and grab the quaffle right away.

Not feeling all too well, it was honestly a first, Mualla made her way onto the Quidditch pitch and joined the others. She saluted Nadine as they were given the instructions also protect those who had already been hit before, still feeling a little guilty over hitting Simone during the Match against Ilvermorny. She'd have to do better than that. She could only hope that everyone would keep their cool today, as she couldn't deal with any drama happening on the field at the moment with her head all fuzzy and stuff. She kicked off and started flying around in circles, hunting for bludgers immediately.

Orélie had half expected Nadine to bring up her conspicuous absence at their previous game, but as the silence stretched with the rest of the team, Nadine only ended up saying the usual pre-practice spiel. Orélie couldn't help but feel suspicious about it, but she wasn't about to look a gift horse in the mouth. "Nope, you got it all. We got a champion team here, they don't need coddling," She said tightly, half daring Nadine to say anything else before kicking off with the rest of the team and following Simone as she made her way to the hoops.

Grace hoped that this next practice was going to be much better than the previous one, all the drama should've been kept off the pitch. Since it had been a while though hopefully the captains would have realised it wasn't anyone else's issues but theirs. She sighed however when they seemed to be at odds, still. Maybe she could get them to move past all of this after practice. She mounted her broom and kicked off the ground, holding the beater's bat tightly in one hand as she navigated her way around the pitch in search for bludgers.

Simone diligently did her half lap around the pitch and headed toward the hoops. She spotted Orelie following behind her. Simone knew she should probably pass it but she was still annoyed at her friends and decided she could be petty too, so she kept a tight grip on the quaffle and raced to make her shot. Her shot went wide and Bijoux caught it easily. She cursed but shrugged it off quickly.

"Nice catch, Bibi," Orélie called, scooping up the quaffle as she threw it back in. The petty part of Orélie wanted to ignore Nadine's instructions and try another shot, but as they'd seen last time they fought in front of team, she knew it wasn't going to get her anywhere productive. Instead, she took off for a lap of the pitch, seeing if she could outpace the bludgers shooting around this time.

In pursuit of a bludger, Mualla pressed forward on her broom to catch up with it. It was still too far away for her to hit it but she would have caught up with it in seconds. Hopefully she'd be able to hit them again at least a couple of times today.

Penelope was pumped and ready for practice, still riding the emotional high from her recent win against Ilvermorny. She arrived at the pitch, smiling at each of her team mates as she passed them, still not bothering to make much effort to get to know anyone, that wasn't what she had signed up for. She wanted nothing more than to be better than the last time she flew, each time she showed up whether to practice or a real game. That was her only real goal - constant improvement.

When practice began she took off immediately, scouring the skies for the snitch. It felt good to be in the air again.

2a

Nadine was glad it was Simone who had grabbed the quaffle first, and not Orélie. She scowled as Simone failed to score, as she knew Orélie was closer so would intercept the quaffle next. Determined, she flew up to Orélie and attempted to wrestle the quaffle out of her grasp. Once she managed it, she gave Orélie a sly grin before zooming off, finishing the lap she had started so she could score and show her who was the better chaser.

Orélie grit her teeth with Nadine was able to wrest the quaffle from her, immediately turning her broom around to chase after her. She knew she should have just ignored Nadine's dumb half-lap and tried to score, but there was still a chance she could regain possession before Nadine scored.

2a.

"Not this again." Simone groaned under her breath as Nadine stole the quaffle from Orelie. This was practice and stealing was something they needed to practice, she just hated the tension it caused now. Thankfully she was able to grab the quaffle from Nadine, and she made her way to the hoops and tried to score again. But her aim was off and missed again.

Orélie couldn't help but feel a bit smug when Simone managed to grab the quaffle back from Nadine, though her shot was blocked again. "Let's try this radical new thing called passing," She said brightly, though she tossed the quaffle a little harder than usual to @Nadine after grabbing it from Bijoux.

Penelope pulled herself up higher into the air to get a better vantage point. She wanted to improve her ability to take in everything that goes around her on the pitch, she tapped her fingers rhythmically on the end of her broomstick, a trick to remind herself to keep an eye out for bludgers, and other players and not just the snitch. Tap- snitch, tap, bludgers, tap-players. Snitch, bludgers, players. She kept tapping and repeated the reminder to herself in her head.

Mualla cursed when the bludger got away from her, wondering if it was her headache which caused her to lose focus for a second there. Groaning when it appeared that there was nothing around for her to hit, Mualla flew a lap around the pitch again.

It frustrated Nadine that Simone stole the quaffle immediately, and she glared at her friend. This was supposed to be her moment! At least the girl didn't manage to score, which was a slight relief. Orélie got her hands on the quaffle next, and threw it to Nadine but a lot harder than necessary. Nadine grabbed it, but her broom veered off course a little. She ignored Orélie, finishing the lap before flying back to Bijoux. She smiled smugly as the quaffle soared through the hoop. "Thanks." She said to Orélie in passing.

Orélie kept a tight smile plastered to her face as Nadine took off the quaffle and scored. It was a good thing, they wanted to win she told herself. "You'll get the next one, Bibi," She called, catching the quaffle again as she threw it in, this time holding onto it to make her own lap. As she headed across the pitch, Orélie took a moment to check on the other players, but things seemed pretty quiet so far.

Orélie was able to weave past Nadine and Simone, making her lap around the pitch before coming in at an angle to try and catch Bijoux off guard as she made her shot. "Well, I was right, you got that one," She said, shaking her head and smiling as Bijoux made the save. She tried not to dwell on her missing when Nadine could score. There was still plenty of practice time left.

Nadine grinned as Orélie failed to score, catching the quaffle. "Let's try to make it a challenge for Bijoux, yes?" She said smugly before speeding off. This practice was going a lot better than the last one for her.

She tried to hit the first bludger of today but watched as it went completely off-target. It wasn't the end of the world but Mualla hoped for more success soon.

Grace rolled her eyes but didn't say anything, at least they seemed not to bicker just yet and hopefully they wouldn't. It wouldn't be good for the team. She sped after a bludger and when she neared it, she swung her bat but completely missed.

Orélie knew it was a waste of time trying to take the high road with Nadine. She was just too stubborn and childish to let this go, even with the whole team likely watching them. Clenching her teeth, she shot off after Nadine, managing to wrest the quaffle from her before passing it to @Simone Moreau-Chen. "I will if you will," She said to Nadine in the same mock-sweet tone she had spoken to her with.

Simone rolled her eyes but made her way to the goal regardless. She focused on maintaining her speed and watching Bijoux, looking for an opening. Waiting for the perfect timing, she threw the quaffle in to the center goal and cheered as it went threw.

Orélie couldn't say she was upset that Simone had scored, but it did mean that now she was the only chaser who hadn't yet. Reminding herself there was still a whole practice left, Orélie blew Bijoux a kiss as she caught the quaffle, swooping back to do her half-lap so she could try her luck again.
