Marcos had been a little surprised to receive the title of co-captain. More so to find out who his co-captain was, the young boy wasn't someone that the Gryffindor knew particularly well. The teen wasn't sure what to think of being paired with the younger boy. He knew that the boy was quite close to the former captain and was of course the son of the head of their house. Marcos knew however that the boy was more than capable as a player, so he was sure that it would be useful. Marcos would be nervous about doing this alone, and he knew that he was sure with enough time he would get to know the younger boy. They would be running this try-out, and Marcos was quite nervous about running this. He'd never been in any leadership positions, and he wasn't sure of himself and whether he would actually be capable of doing this. The gryffindor looked out at the various people, the teammates they would be flying with and the new people who would be trying out for the team. He was nervous but he was hoping to bring so many new talents and help their team grow and hopefully grab the victory.
"Hey everyone, I'm Marcos Morales, I'm one of the co-captains, this is Jacob Kingsley," he introduced himself and his co-captain, "Welcome to the gryffindor quidditch try-outs. Gryffindor team is a great team to be part of, we work with each other and we support each other," Marcos said, "For the team members returning, get yourself into the air and start practicing. For those looking to try out, step forward, give us your name and which position you are trying out for," the teen said before looking towards his co-captain, "Is there anything you'd like to add Jacob?" once his co-captain had said what he wanted to the teen smiled at those trying out again, "Right, let's get to it," Marcos hoped this would go well.

OOCOut of Character:

Returning players are guaranteed their spots as long as they post attendance in this thread before tryouts are over. Returning alternates must try out again.
First years must PM me or Jacob Kingsley if they want to try out. No first years will be allowed to try out unless there are not enough older students.

Onyx had come to the odd decision over the holidays to try out for the Quidditch team. Sapphire was passionate about her position as an alternate on the Slytherin team last year and had convinced him to help her train throughout the break. Of course, that meant he'd helped her train to be a beater. He took his spot on the field with the others. He smiled at Jacob and Marcos. Kira had talked about the older boy before. And he was glad he and Jacob had been able to stay friends. The feelings he'd had for the other boy had faded over time, and he was definitely grateful he'd been able to keep his friendship despite his own stupidity. Of course, he expected that meant he'd have to work harder to get on the team.

It was quickly his turn. "Onyx Michaels, trying out for Beater." He couldn't wait to get started, kicking off almost as soon as everyone had spoken. He wasn't the fastest broom out there, but he had a great aim and a strong swing. It took him a while to get used to the unpredictability of the bludgers, but Onyx adapted rather quickly. He worked hard, and he felt he'd improved by the time the try-outs were over. Onyx was worn out. He hit the ground and rolled through the grass a moment, laughing breathlessly. "That was so much more work than playing with Sapph," He chuckled, laying there a bit before pulling himself up. He had really enjoyed himself. He hoped he made the team. It would be awesome to play against his sister.

Fleur had enjoyed being part of the team last year, and was glad she had tried out. Now, she looked forward to returning, even if she would still be an alternate. She had a lot to learn, so it was fine by her. She smiled as she saw who the new captains were. Marcos was a boy in the year above her, and Jacob was in the year below. She knew Jacob slightly better, as he was friends with Willow like she was. She listened to what the captains had to say, then waited for her turn. Being part of the team had helped her form more connections at Hogwarts, which was why she had encouraged her shy brother to do the same for his own house. She would have to check in with him later, but now she had to focus on herself.

When it was her turn, Fleur stepped forward. "Fleur van Houten, trying out for chaser." She said with a smile. Then she got on her broom and caught the quaffle as it was passed to her. Fleur flew a loop around the pitch to warm up quickly, then raced to the nearest goal and threw the quaffle as fast as she could, hoping to catch the keeper off guard. She grinned as it went in, and retrieved the quaffle to try once more. Fleur loved playing, and she wondered once again why she hadn't tried out for the team in her second or third year. But maybe she simply hadn't been ready yet. Fleur hoped there would be a spot for her after she had been an alternate last year, and that she wouldn't be replaced by better alternates. With that in mind, Fleur tried her best with her tryout. She scored three more times, aiming for different hoops to show she couldn't only make goals in one specific way. One of her attempts was blocked, but she didn't think she had done badly in the end. When she touched down, she felt cautiously optimistic.

Being named co-captain had left Jacob speechless, and he was still finding it hard to believe. Every now and then, he'd pinched himself at the news. Thankfully, Lizzie hadn't left him to it on his own. He was still only a fourth year and he knew that some of the older students might not be happy with his promotion. So he was happy for Marcos to lead things and he followed up the boy's introduction of who he was with a nod. Truth be told, he was having some trouble finding his voice whenever he was around Marcos. So there had been a lot of nods and one word replies when they'd discussed tryouts as well. Jacob knew he would have to find his voice soon, but the older Gryffindor boy made him nervous in a way that was new to the fourth year.

Looking over the group, Jacob hoped that they'd get some good players this year. Last year's team had been formidable, and he knew he couldn't let Lizzie down. When he sent her an owl, he wanted it to be with good news. Jacob stared after Onyx as he announced his position and walked off. They'd settled into a more comfortable friendship than they'd started the year with, but sometimes it was still hard to be around him. Jacob wasn't sure how it would be to not only have to practice with him daily but to play with him closely as a fellow Beater. He corrected his posture. You're a co-captain, Jake. Be professional, he reminded himself. Turning his attention to the next person, Jacob gave her a smile. He liked Fleur. She was good friends with Willow, and they were friendly even though they weren't exactly friends themselves. Jacob relaxed a little more as the tryouts continued, realizing that he knew quidditch. This was something he was comfortable with, and as long as he could overcome his teeny crush on Marcos, he could do this.

"I'm gonna go practice with them for a bit" he said in a rush before turning and hopping onto his broom to head into the sky. It was the most he'd said to Marcos in one go, and he'd done it. The fourth year took to the sky and began to practice with some of the potential Beaters, hoping someone would show great potential.

Jess was curious to see what the new captains would be like and was excited for the new season. The news that her cousin Jackson had been made co-captain of the Ravenclaw team had also filled her with pride and she knew James was just as proud as she was. Jess made her way out onto the Quidditch pitch and greeted the two new captains and waited for the tryouts to begin.

Sierra didn't know too much about Quidditch, but she liked the idea of flying. She hadn't been amazing at it in her classes to begin with, even falling off her broom, but once she got a feel for it, she decided it was a nice feeling. Perhaps being able to fly made her understand birds a bit more - well, then she'd at least be at their level and they wouldn't be swooping at her. The Gryffindor had watched the games the previous year, and got some tips from her brothers over the holidays.
Sierra was excited. Running to the try-outs, she tripped over her feet and stumbled a few meters before being able to upright herself and stood straight, pretending nothing happened. She couldn't help but let out a snort of laughter though. Taking a deep breath, Sierra walked up to introduce herself. "Sierra Woodlock, trying out for seeker!"
Taking to the sky, Sierra tried to stay as straight and stable on the broom as possible. It took her a few moments to get comfortable before she shot around the pitch a couple of times, just to prove that she could fly. It was time for her to start looking for the glint of gold in the sky, so she flew around slowly, her eyes scanning everywhere. She frowned, when she didn't find it immediately. She continued to look around, but it took her some time to find it. When she finally spotted it, Sierra gave chase. She was so close!! Sierra reached out her hand, wobbled a bit but managed to straighten up before closing her hand around the little gold ball. Sierra let out a woop, and showed the captains that she had caught it, before letting it go. She closed her eyes and counted to ten, then set off to find it again. Thankfully, Sierra found it quicker the second time, and even managed to stay stable on her broom as she reached for it. Closing her fingers over the Snitch, Sierra cheered for herself again as she managed to keep hold of it. She was glad she was able to find it again before the end of try-outs; she didn't want to be responsible for it being lost forever.

Caspian had been keen to work on his agility and speed over the summer in preparation for the Quidditch tryouts. The Gryffindor tryout field was always vast and he knew it would be difficult to stand out, Caspian wasn't the player his older brother was, heck he probably wasn't as good as his younger brother but he loved Quidditch and had been determined to work as hard as possible to make himself better and finally he had his chance to show how much his hard work had paid off. Caspian headed to the Quidditch pitch with his broom and walked over to the captain with a beaming smile on his face. "Caspian Lavish trying out for seeker," Caspian caught the gaze of a younger girl who had just tried out and he nodded to her. She'd been good but hopefully he'd be better.

While the tryouts were going on around him Caspian was perched high in the sky, alone, surveying the whole field for a glimmer of gold. He didn't know how long he'd been up there but he did know the face below him had changed numerous times. A little part of him was almost ready to give up when he saw a speck of gold in the corner of his eye and instinctively Caspian shot forward in pursuit. He was at first blind to the people in front of him before he realised they were there and began to weave in and out around them which frustrated him as it only slowed him down in his chase of the ball. Once he was away from the players he was able to lean forward and close the gap on the snitch and reach out his right hand and just as he felt like he was about to lose his balance he closed his fingers around the snitch with a final lunge forward. He did it! He actually did it. Feeling confident Caspian released the snitch, waited a few moments and chased after it again this time catching it in a matter of minutes. No doubt he damaged the wings with his first catch but he showed the captains never the less. Caspian returned to the ground and handed the snitch to one of the captains and left the pitch.

With a new year at Hogwarts underway, that meant a new year of Quidditch for Gwen. The girl was ecstatic when she had finally received herself an alternate position on the Gryffindor team last year and had really enjoyed it, despite not ever getting the opportunity to play a rel game, and really wanted to get in again and hopefully improve her skills. It was fun to make new friends in her house and being able to cheer on her team from the bench was a great highlight for her. Better yet, the team had won a couple of games and Gwen had been invited to the celebratory parties. She was hoping that this year she'd be able to get in again, even with a new captain, and made her way up to the Quidditch pitch with a confident smile across her face, ready to show the new captain that she had what it took to get back on the team.

As everyone had arrived and gathered around, the captain began talking to the group. As he did this, Gwen thought that perhaps she would try out for another position. After all, she liked things to be different and was eager to show the captain that she could do more than just flying around looking for a golden ball. When they were told to begin, Gwen made her way over to the captain. "My name is Gwen and I'm looking to try out for the beater position, but I can also play seeker if you need!" she exclaimed, and with that she turned around before mounting her broom and heading off into the air with a beater's bat in hand.

Gwen flew around the Quidditch pitch carefully, watching as bludgers went in each direction. As she saw one heading towards her she quickly took the opportunity to pull back her bat, and with as much energy as she could muster, she hit the bludger perfectly, watching as it flew in the opposite direction. She beamed at herself before looking for more bludgers, also sending them flying off. She was really doing her best with each bludger she hit and hoped the captain could see that.

After the girl had hit quite a few bludgers, she proceeded to fly back down and put the beater's bat back before flying back up into the air and searching for the snitch, wanting to show the captain that she could also play as a seeker. It took her a bit but eventually the Gryffindor spotted the golden ball in all its glory, hovering behind someone's head. Beaming, Gwen dived towards it and it immediately began flying away as fast as it could. With her hand out in front of her and a good amount of concentration, Gwen pushed as hard as she could as she balanced on her broom towards the snitch. Before she knew it, she had gotten close enough and her hand wrapped itself around it. She balled her hand into a fist and put her arm in the air in triumph, looking down towards the captain so he could see that she caught it.

Soon enough, everyone was heading back down and it meant that the tryouts were over. Gwen followed them, thanking the Gryffindor captain before heading back up to the castle for a shower.

Gabriel heard of the new captains and he was really glad with Marcos and Jacob was a fine guy too, but he had wanted to do it too together with Marcos. They were best friends for so long, so that would just be nice. But well he just had to wait and see how things went. He missed Lizzie already. And hoped they would gonna rock it this year too. He joined the others on the field and smiled at Marcos and put his thumbs up for his speech. He than looked at Jacob. He couldn't stop thinking about it, perhaps it was not nice at all but his mother was head of house. It would be easy to be captain like this. But Jacob was really good at what he did, so it was deserved he figured. Most of the team members from last year were still on the team, but there was always some room for more he figured. The boy smiled at the people that were trying out and stepped on his broom as well to help wherever he was needed.

Jemma was pleased that Jake had been named as one of the captains of the Quidditch team this year. She loved her cousin, and she knew this would be a big deal for him. She went down to the pitch, slightly relieved that she wouldn't have to try out to keep her position of Chaser. Of course, she really wanted to be the seeker, but Syrus had been placed in that position over her last year. The redhead spotted Jacob and gave him a grin and a wink. She could tell he was nervous, but only because she had so many years of practice at reading his expressions. She waited to see if Syrus would show up. If he didn't, she would tryout for seeker again herself.

Not today Satan(s). :r

Syrus arrived at the pitch with his modified broomstick in hand but not with a spring in steps like he would've wanted. He heard the word about who Lizzie made team captain, and he could see why Jacob was made captain, but another Morales? It's like family preferences was a big thing when it comes to quidditch at Hogwarts. Jess's cousin being made captain was another prime example of that. Whatever, he still had his spot on the team as seeker. Nobody can take that away, it was his last year at Hogwarts anyways! Syrus had to make every bit of this year count, make his spot on the team that more remarkable. Syrus greeted both captains on the team and the others who came for the try-outs. It's pretty clear he was securing his spot on the team. Since there was no need for him to try-out, Syrus took to the air to assist in any way he can. Possibly help the next aspiring seeker work on their techniques.

Willow made her way to the quidditch pitch. it was good to be outside after spending most of her holiday inside the darkest and smelliest shop in obsidian harbour. the winter sun felt warm on her face as she entered the quidditch pitch. she saw a couple of familiar faces and greeted syrus before going to stand next to fleur "Hey fleur. how was your break" she asked before the captains introduced themselves. she had been a little surprised at who had been nominated the new captains but didn't say anything, if she had learned anything over the break it was to not complain or you would be facing the dirtiest job, usually cleaning the jar that had contained slime by hand. Instead, she smiled and greeted both Marcos and Jacob. "Hey guys. congratulations on your captainship" she said smiling. "You already know i am Willow Cullen, and I am trying out for seeker." she said, she was going to add she could be a beater if the team needed one but she had already heard a couple of people say they were trying to beater. so she would stick with seeking. over the holidays she had listened to lizzie's advice from the last training session the previous year and had practised both positions at home in the evenings. and after band practice with Syrus. She had decided that she prefered seeking. She definitely didn't like keeping.
once given the signal she mounted her boom and kicked off spending the tryouts looking for snitches. and catching them.

Jacob flew around for a while, both practicing and watching the tryouts as they progressed. They had a lot of talent on the pitch, and Jacob was hopeful that they would have a good season. Flying close to Marcos, Jacob opened his mouth taking a second to gather his thoughts. "Uh...should we end it in a few?" he said in a low voice, not wanting to distract anyone. Every moment counted for the people trying out.

OOCOut of Character:
Tryouts will close early Thursday. If you are interested in trying out, do so asap!
