Ryder lead the two contestants out onto the stage and appointed them to the north and south points of the stage. After explaining the rules he walked off the stage and watched.
OOCOut of Character:
All right, make sure that you use the spell list for guidance. No board rule breaking is acceptable. Have fun! I have a copy of the code that you should use with every post. Remember, when you are knocked out, unable to shoot anymore spells, you lost. And if you run out of points, you lose.

The duel begins now. If someone doesn't post after 24 hours, they are disqualified.

Duels had come around again, and with them, Domi's chance for attention. An audience, a stage, all the drama of a fight. She didn't really care about the fighting itself, but being seen by so many people was a joy, and she would milk her likely failure for all the drama she could get. The name of her opponent had set her every nerve on end though. She had to duel Arvel?! The knight in shining armour, who had rescued her from despair? That would never do. There was no way she could lay a finger on him. She would just have to bide her time until he inevitably won, and then milk the loss for all the sympathy it was worth. Once the duel started she hesitated, staring at him for a long moment before casting the mildest spell she could think of. "Rictusempra!" Domi cast, hoping the spell wouldn't tickle Arvel too much...

Arvel swallowed nervously as he mounted the stage. He knew lots of people in his year had signed up to duel, so it seemed unfair that out of all of them he would be paired up with Domi. Not that he didn't like her. He did. He just felt so awkward around her. She was bubbly and excitable and sweet, and he was... not. Barely prepared, he cast a protective shield to block the first spell. "Expelliarmus," he said, wondering whether he should actually try his hardest, or go easy on her. If he made it easy, it wouldn't be a fair fight, would it? But if he won, he was going to feel awful. Why did it have to be Domi?!

Domi's first spell didn't land, to her dismay, and as she was trying to think of the next one to cast, Arvel retaliated. She barely had time to dodge out of the way of his spell, shrieking in alarm. She quickly fired back with an antler jinx, other spells suddenly leaving her thoughts.

Arvel felt so bad about making Domi shriek that for a second he forgot where he was and what he was doing, and could only dive out of the way of her next spell. Well. That was embarrassing. Straightening up, he ignored the burning in his cheeks and fired off a Jelly Fingers Curse, figuring it was least harmful if it actually hit.

Domi was so preoccupied trying to decide the perfect flourish to accompany her next spell, that she only started to pay attention to Arvel far too late. There was nothing she could do to stop the spell rushing towards her, so she stepped directly into the beam, accepting her fate. Last time she had lost a duel Domi had been able to enjoy the drama of actually losing consciousness, all the attention when she returned to the world of the waking a thrill. This time, though, to her distaste, Domi just watched as her fingers turned to jelly, wand slipping from her hand easily and clattering to the floor. That was nothing. Not nearly dramatic enough. So Domi decided to take the moment she had and see how much drama she could get from it. Wailing in horror at her jellied fingers, Domi sank to her knees in despair. "My HANDS!" She shrieked, wobbling her jellied digits helplessly. "I'll never play the piano!"
