Ares was keen for this year to go better than the last year, he definitely needed it to go better than the last one had, but the boy was confident about this happening, he was sure that they would get better that they would manage it far better than they had. He was stood on the quidditch pitch with his broom in hand watching as people walked on to the pitch, the sixth year couldn't help but look at all of them, spotting the familiar faces in amongst the rest of them. he waved at a few of the team members but focused himself as soon as it became clear that everyone had arrived. The hufflepuff cleared his throat far more confident about speaking to this many people than before, than the last one, but he didn't feel good because of how the year had gone. "Today's tryouts will be like every other time, current team members can fly around getting a bit of practice, those trying out give me your name and the position you'd like to play for. If you want to give more than one position by all means do" The captain kept it nice and short, "I know that the last year of games didn't go quite as planned but this semester we'll do it properly. Right, let's get started,"

OOCOut of Character:
Players from the previous year are guaranteed their spot without needing to try out again - as long as attendance is posted before try-outs are over. Alternates, however, will need to try out again.

First years are required to PM me for approval before attempting to try out - which will only be accepted if there is a need for more players.

Norton was happily surprised upon getting to the quidditch pitch, fully intending to try-out again, but as it turned out he didn't have to! Instead he just got to practice. The hufflepuff jumped on to his broom the moment he could waving a happy good bye to April as he flew up into the air, fully intending to spend the time helping others, but keeping practicing. The hufflepuff just wanted to get good at this, to be a better player.

Tess honestly wasn't sure why they were going to host try outs unless they needed alternates or someone was to be replaced but she made her way to the pitch with her broom in hand and smiled at Ares who she likes well enough but thought that perhaps he needed to be more of a leader after their upset last year - of which she was at fault for as well. Still Tess wanted to do well and was glad to be able to get in a practice at the very least so she flew and tried her hand at practice, paying some attention to the alternate tryouts as well.

Geo had waited two years for this day, and making her way to the Hufflepuff pitch with a few of her friends, it was overwhelming that the time had finally come. She hoped she would see April around again, and she had been very proud of her friend the year before for her efforts as an alternate Seeker. Geo hoped things wouldn't be too awkward if she was to be spending more time around Anthony either, but she wasn't going to let that stop her. She was a competitive Hufflepuff, an with so much going on this year with her education she hoped she could find her escape in Quidditch. Regardless of how well the team had performed last year, Geo knew they were all good players and she had confidence that they could be top once again. "Geo Volt. Trying out for Chaser" She said when it was her turn, giving a nod to Ares. The third year realised it didn't look as though they needed anymore players, but Geo would offer what she could, just in case.

Nervously, Geo mounted her broom and shot up into the air, catching the Quaffle in one arm from a previous player before soaring low through the skies towards the hoops. She'd spent her free time training with Ravenclaw's keeper, and recalling their sessions she flew in a pattern that would be most difficult for them to follow. As she approached the left hoop, Geo threw the Quaffle slightly into the air, before punching it straight in its center with all the strength she could muster, sending it right into the goal. She may well have gotten a good score there, but Geo wasn't finished. She proceeded to score an additional three goals, only failing once when she attempted a throw from too far away, it was way to predictable, before finally making her way back to the ground.

Feeling the wind against her cheeks had left them flushed, but she was exhilarated at the time she'd had. Her bright pink hair that had been tied into a ponytail was messier than she had started with, but she loved to be outside and there was nothing that would compare to the rush of flying. "Thanks" She smiled to the Captain as she passed him, hoping she'd just done enough.

Matthew felt very strange about being in his final year, but he was glad he would be a part of the Hufflepuff team for this year. He wasn't completely happy with how he had played last year, but he hoped to do better from now on. He wondered if the team would have any new additions, as they were pretty complete. But one never knew what would happen. Last year had proven the importance of alternates, as had the year before. Unexpected things always happened. He took to the air, hoping he could help some of the new people if they tried out for chaser.

April was excited to try out for quidditch, even though it felt a little odd because she felt like she was already part of the team. It had only been as an alternate, but she had played two different games last year and had won the match for the in one of them. Part of her felt like it was sort of silly to try out, but she knew it had to be done. She really hoped Ares had liked her performance so far and would let her stay the alternate. As she arrived, April waved cheerfully at everyone on the team. "April Ward, trying out for seeker!" She said with a wink a Ares, before taking to the air. She circled the pitch on the lookout for the snitch. It felt just like a quidditch match, even if there were no other players around in different robes.

She weaved around the other players, staying on the lookout for the small golden ball all the while. She soon forgot she was just in a tryout and not an actual game, though she did miss the noises of the cheering crowd in the back. It took her a long time to even see the snitch, and when she finally did for the first time it wasn't within grasping distance and she lost sight of it as she swerved around someone to move closer. She sighed and continued her search. It took her another while to find it again, but when she did she reached for it immediately and managed to grab it. She whooped, held it in the air and showed it off. Then she let it go and counted to twenty before trying again. She didn't manage to catch the snitch again during the time for the try outs, but had a lot of fun trying.

Patrick had really enjoyed being on the Hufflepuff Quidditch Team last year and was eager to start a whole new year of quidditch, despite everything his step-sister told him about the sport being dangerous. For once he didn't care what she thought and made his way onto the pitch to try out again for the team. He was a bit disgruntled that he had to try out yet again but stood around with the crowd, listening as the captain spoke. When instructed, Patrick lined up with everyone else and when it was his turn he told the captain the position he was trying out for. "Patrick Vernier, trying out for beater." he said quietly, giving the older boy a small smile as he walked away and took to the air. It felt weird being on a broom for the first time since their last game but he was determined to do well in hopes that the captain thought he was good enough to be on the team again. The Hufflepuff began looking for bludgers, the beater's bat in his hand. When he saw one coming his way he beamed and swung his bat as hard as he could. They shot off and Patrick took a sigh of relief, happy he hadn't missed them. He continued to do this for the rest of the tryouts, aiming the bludgers at players and anywhere else he could send them to. By the end of the tryouts he was happy with his success and thanked the captain before heading back to the castle, hoping he had done enough to earn himself a place.

Although his first year on the team hadn't gone so well during their matches, Ethan was still confident that this year the Hufflepuff team could make a comeback. He knew that their team was pretty complete already which meant that perhaps they could simply improve on their cohesion since they wouldn't need to figure out new player styles. But at the same time they could always use more alternates as they really did seem to be vital to the team in crucial moments, so he was happy to show up to try outs today and watch them to see what they could add to their team. Ethan waved to his teammates and watched a bit of the tryouts for a while before eventually making his way into the air as well to get some practice in to help himself improve as well and prove his position on the team.

Therese had thought about it all break and she decided to just go for it. The brunette wanted to try out for the quidditch team. She had the thought of her aunt in her mind that hold her back last year, but Gabriel was right. It was beautiful to go further with the memory of her aunt. She was a good player, but Therese could understand Sofia too. She hated quidditch because of the tragic accident with her mother. But still the brunette wanted to try out, because she liked quidditch. She made her way to the field and smiled as she arrived there. The brunette had figured out for what she wanted to try out and was ready to show it. Therese noticed some familliar faces like April and Geo that were trying out too. The team was full but they needed alternatives too. They were important too the huffelpuff thought. When it was her turn she smiled and introduced herself. '' Therese Rosenberg, I'm trying out for Keeper.'' the brunette said with a big smile. It would be nice to get to know more people and being in a team seemed like lots of fun. She hoped April and Geo would also be on the time because that would be great fun and they deserved it too.

The brunette mounted her broom when it was her turn and kicked off from the ground. Therese flew in the direction of the three hoops that she needed to defend and made sure she had the right balance on the broom. The brunette smiled and was ready to stop the shots. Quickly the first shot came in her direction and she catched it easily. The brunette felt happy that this beginning went so great. She wasn't like Gabriel that trained his whole life for this and wanted nothing more than play quidditch, but she felt it was fun to play. The next shot she missed but she felt optimistic that the next one she would hold. And that way of thinking worked because she stopped the shots after eachother. The brunette had stopped a lot of shots, but had missed some too. But overall she was happy with the result. Therese came back to the ground again and thanked the team for their time. It was great fun to do this!

Even though Anthony hadn't been able to participate in the last game of the previous year he was still just as excited to return to the team this year, and now he got to do it as a prefect as well. He was super excited to have the extra responsibility, so with his badge on his robes he headed down to the pitch and joind his team for the tryouts.

Austin had been disappointed not only with the overall team performance but also his own performance. He didn't at any point make a significant contribution to any of the games he played in, he wouldn't blame Ares if he decided to bench him in favour of one of the alternates. Austin made his way out on to the Quidditch pitch with his broom in one hand and his club in the other and joined his team mates to wait for the tryouts to begin.

OOCOut of Character:
The try-outs will be closing tonight, so this is your last chance to try-out for the Y30 Hufflepuff team

Nixon wanted nothing more than to seem cool to his peers and to make a lot of friends. In his mind quidditch players were 'cool' in typical terms and seemed to have many friends both inside and outside of their teams, so it was only natural that he wanted to try out for his house's team to achieve that level of popularity for himself. Nixon had done well during his first year flying lessons and believed that with determination and practice he could be an okay quidditch player. He ran these thoughts through his mind too keep his demeanor confident as he arrived to the quidditch pitch with a school issued broom in his hand. He could do this, he wanted to do this. Being part of a team was going to make him feel happy and he wanted to make the most of this opportunity.

The captain spoke to everyone on the pitch before try outs began. Nixon nodded along to the older student speak, then waited for his turn to step forward and introduce himself. "Nixon Mercury, trying out for chaser." He said, before mounting his broom and flying into the air. Chaser seemed like an appropriate position for him, with less pressure than being a seeker but still an important part of the team. As Nixon flew around, he caught one of the quaffles thrown back and forth, managing to keep it tucked under his arm safely as he reached one of the sets of hoops. He threw it towards the middle hoop but the keeper caught it and threw it back. Nixon caught the quaffle again and headed towards the other side of the pitch, attempting another shot at the other set of hoops and watching it fly through the left hoop successfully. During the rest of the allotted try out time Nixon repeatedly passed the quaffle and attempted shots whenever he reached a set of hoops, and overall he felt pleased with himself as he touched back down to the ground. "Thanks for the opportunity!" He said to the captain, and wondered what it would be like to be a popular quidditch player as he smiled politely at the older Hufflepuff.
