It was the next round of contestants' turn to duel so Kennedy led them up to the long stage. She appointed each of them an opposite end of the stage to face each other and then explained the rules to follow and the point system. Once they were all in understanding, she stepped off the stage a safe distance away and signaled for them to begin.
OOCOut of Character:
Make sure that you use the spell list for guidance. No board rule breaking is acceptable. Have fun! I have a copy of the code that you should use with every post. Remember, when you are knocked out, unable to shoot anymore spells, you lost. And if you run out of points, you lose.
The duel begins now. If someone doesn't post after 24 hours, they are disqualified.

Sara hadn’t signed herself up for the duelling tournament before, but this year she had joined the SDA and it felt right to get more involved in the school. It would also be good practice for the future, and in case she needed to defend herself in a situation. She smirked a little at her opponent, Gideon. This was going to be fun. After going to her side of the stage, she did the polite greeting people did before a duel with her wand and was quick enough to cast the first spell - the Jelly Fingers curse. She watched as the light from her wand sped off towards her target, wondering if it would work.

Gideon had only signed up for the dueling tournament because his friends were doing it, and it seemed like it could be a lot of fun to compete against them. A little unfortunately, his first pairing wasn't with any of the people he got along with. He didn't know the first thing about Sara, or how good of a duelist she was, and had absolutely no clue how this would turn out. Bowing to his opponent, he straightened back up as she fired a spell toward him already, and barely managed to throw up a protego charm in time. The jelly-fingers curse fizzled away as his shield dissipated, and he quickly retaliated with the first spell that came to mind. "Rictusempra!"

Sara breathed a sigh of relief, but then realised her spell hadn’t in fact hit Gideon so she shrugged that relief off and instead focused on what was coming at her. Thankfully, it was one she could easily avoid in time so she ducked, missing it by milliseconds. She grinned and quickly cast the next spell off the top of her head (and easy to pronounce). "Tarantallegra!"

Gideon was far from an experienced duelist, a fact that became quite clear to himself and the spectators as he failed to conjure a shield or move out of the way in time to avoid Sara's spell. It was almost as if he'd forgotten he could move his legs and side step out of the way to avoid it. Now, he wished it were still the case, as his legs began to dance around on the spot uncontrollably as a result of the jinx. "Stop it, stop. Why have you betrayed me, legs?" The Gryffindor grumbled, trying in vain to hold his restless legs into place. It was a waste of time, as he quickly realised, but it hadn't taken him out of the match. Not yet. It was somewhat more difficult to aim at his opponent now, but he continued to try, firing off a spell when he thought he'd lined his wand up with the Slytherin girl. "Expelliarmus!"

Sara almost cheered when her spell hit Gideon, though she kind of felt bad for feeling this way. She giggled at his reaction, hoping he didn't feel too bad about being hit by the dancing legs spell. It did mean however that Sara could do even better than that, that she wasn't all that bad at magic after all. All of this thought process made her almost miss her chance at protecting herself from the spell coming her way and she quickly cast Protego before firing another spell. "Stupefy!"

Despite his predicament, and how much it was impeding his ability to duel well, Gideon couldn't help but grin, feeling as stupid as he looked but unable to do anything but laugh about it. There were more unpleasant spells to be hit by for sure, and he was lucky he wasn't worse off. As distracting as his legs were, he couldn't ignore the fact that Sara was still quite fine, and as she shot a stunning spell his way, he quickly threw up another shielding charm, grateful for the fact that the size of the barrier was enough to protect him even as his legs danced him across the stage. His movements were too jerky for him to properly aim his wand and return fire, since he'd been lucky to even manage his disarming charm, and so he decided against even attempting another spell, at least for now. "Check out these moves, Sara." The Gryffindor called out to the girl, choosing to just go with the flow of his dancing legs, and try to make it look good in the meantime, rather than his torso just wildly flailing about. If he had a chance to hit her with a spell, any moment of his legs slowing down, he'd take it, but as for now, it was too risky to do. Besides, this was much more fun. "Dance off! This ones the Shopping Trolley." Giddy mimed taking invisible items from a shelf and putting them into an equally invisible trolley, though his legs mostly did their own indepedent trots.

Sara was at first a little tentative about this duel, but the more she duelled against Gideon the better she felt, and although she really wanted to do well and not give up so easily this was entertaining and Sara couldn’t help but to stare, amused, as Gideon not only was hit by her dancing spell but he wanted to show off his moves too. She was confused too, though, as he didn’t seem to want to cast any spells. Sara thought to end the spell for him so they’d could resume the duel but at the same time she wanted to see for how long he could keep the dance going. "I am truly impressed, Gideon," she called back, shaking her head. Actually, it was getting kinda creepy now. "Come on, we need to duel, stop playing around," she teased. "Expelliarmus!"

"Thank you, thank you." Gideon may have bowed after being told Sara was impressed, but the act would have no doubt resulted in him losing his balance and landing face first on the platform. She was intent on continuing the duel, and he knew he couldn't just waste time forever. "Fine, fine - Protego! Come on, give me a second, this isn't easy." The Gryffindor barely had time to defend himself, having to stop mid-sentence in order to do so, but his shield managed to protect him from the disarming charm. This time. He wasn't sure how long he'd be able to do it. What if his restless legs turned him around in the middle of the battle? It'd be over for him, for sure. For now, they seemed to be content dancing him around from side to side. "Ok, Petri- nope. Wait." The brief window of time he had to manage his aim was lost as his legs jerked his body to one side, and he had to quickly readjust. "Petrificus Totalus!"

Sara grinned when Gideon played along, reliever to find out he wasn’t actually offended by her comment, this was why she had signed up for the duels, apart from improving her reflexes of course. Her first opponent was just as entertained as she was which only made it more fun - and her a lot more willing to not give up so easily. "I know it isn’t easy. You know you could always end the spell if you want," she said cheekily. That was the whole point of her casting the dancing spell in the first place. She cursed very quietly under her breath as she had been very close. The fact that Gideon needed to try again alerted her and by the time he sent the spell her way she was already casting the shield charm. "Petrificus Totalus!" she fired back.

Gideon grinned. "I wanted to wow the audience with my sweet dance moves." He responded with a quick glance over his shoulder to the spectators. Was Gilly there? She had a duel of her own to prepare for, so he wasn't sure if she had the time to watch him. Gideon made a move to try ed the jinx on his legs, but quickly had to shift his wand as Sara attempted her own petrifying spell. "Protego!" He incanted, casting up another shield. The offensive spell dissipated, and as his protection faded away, he waved his wand at his own legs. "Finite!" His legs slowed their jaunting and finally returned to a standstill, at the cost of giving the Slytherin another opportunity to send a spell his way. He may not have had any time to try disarm or stun her, but at least now he wasn't distracted by the constant movement.

"I think you did an okay job," she teased, grinning. This duel was a lot of fun, much more than she had anticipated and she vaguely remembered her brother Leo had signed up for the tournament as well. She was sure he wouldn’t take it as seriously as she was right now. She almost cheered but stopped herself short when she realised Gideon had actually protected himself from her spell. She has been close, again. But clearly, not close enough. The time for messing around though was over as she watched her opponent end the spell. Hey, it was entertaining while it had lasted. "Accio Gideon's wand," she smirked pointing her own wand at the target.

Hearing Accio be used by Sara was a surprise to Gideon, who hadn't expected it to be used in a duel, but the phrase was long enough to give him time to clamp down his grip on his wand, feeling it almost jerk free of his hand as it was suddenly pulled toward her. "Woah!" The Gryffindor had to use both hands to try and tug it back, digging his heels into the ground in an effort not to lose his footing, and managing only to slide across the platform. His legs were already pretty exhausted from the dancing, and he felt his knees start to buckle from the strain. "Protego!" He called out, projecting the shield up in front of him and severing the magical connection that was Summoning his wand. Any sooner and he may have simply run right into Sara. Gid stumbled back with the absence of a force pulling him forward, but managed to catch his footing before he could fall and aimed his wand toward the Slytherin. "Stupefy!" It wasn't the most original of spells, but he needed a second or two to catch his breath, and it gave him that time.

Watching Gideon was pretty entertaining but Sara didn’t want to be distracted by what he was doing. She needed to watch what he was doing of course, basically, every move, though not necessarily his very humorous dance moves. She felt a little bad for making him struggle so much with his position, which looked extremely uncomfortable. But hey, he didn’t seem to be offended by it and was taking it to his advantage. Sara cleared her throat, glad when Gideon succeeded in not crashing into her. That would have been awkward. "Protego!" Just in time. When she had put up a shield charm, the third year fired the next spell off the top of her head. "I’m sorry about this. Incendio!"

Gideon was catching no breaks. He'd only just straightened himself back up, prepared to get back into the duel, and already there were flames leaping towards him. There was no time to fight it off with a spell, and so instinctively he raised his arm to shield his face from the danger, hoping to avoid his skin getting burned. The fire hit him, igniting the leg of his pants and very quickly burning through the fabric. Cursing under his breath in a panic, the Gryffindor used his robe to stamp out and smother the flames before they could spread, leaving a blackened hole near his knee where the fire had managed to chew through in the short span of time. The skin beneath was raw and painful, but it was nothing a visit to the Hospital Wing couldn't fix in no time, and it didn't stop him from continuing his duel if he just breathed through the burn. He looked back up at Sara, tried to smile despite her setting him on fire, and raised his wand. "Petrificus Totalus."

OOCOut of Character:
Because the match did not end before the deadline, the winner has been chosen by a random draw, so here are the results: Sara (H), Gideon (T), Gideon (T), Gideon (T), Sara (H) - so Gideon Zelinsky is the winner.
