Kennedy walked the two young contestants out onto the long raised platform and pointed them each to their opposite ends of the stage. She carefully explained the rules of the duel and how the point system worked, and then stepped back and nodded as a signal to let the duel begin.
OOCOut of Character:
Make sure that you use the spell list for guidance. No board rule breaking is acceptable. Have fun! I have a copy of the code that you should use with every post. Remember, when you are knocked out, unable to shoot anymore spells, you lost. And if you run out of points, you lose.
The duel begins now. If someone doesn't post after 24 hours, they are disqualified.

As soon as Frankie had heard there was to be a duelling tournament held in the school, she hadn't been able to get to the sign-up list fast enough. She was glad that other people had been as enthused about the opportunity as she had, and grinned at her opponent down at the other end of the stage before turning her full attention to the professor explaining the rules. As soon as the woman nodded to begin the duel, Frankie immediately swung her wand up to point at her opponent. "Expelliarmus!"

Alexis listened to the professor explained the rules. She already had a go-to spell which she would use when the duel started. She guessed that Frankie would make the first move. Soon enough, her theory was proven when Frankie immediately pointed the wand at her. A disarming spell directed at her. Instinctively, Alexis responded, "Protego!", forming a shield between them. She quickly retaliated, "Locomotor Mortis!", pointing the wand at Frankie's legs.

It would have been cool to disarm her opponent in the first round, Frankie thought, but she wasn't at all disappointed to see that the other girl had protected herself. She wanted to make the most of this duel after all, and that wouldn't happen if it was over before it had even started. The incantation for the shielding charm was already at her lips as an offensive spell shot towards her and the shield shimmered into existence in time to save Frankie from having her legs locked. She grinned at her opponent, and then swung her wand towards the other girl again. "Expelliarmus," she called again, not wanting to have to resort to a more serious form of trying to win just yet.

Alexis was expecting Frankie to cast a shield. What she did not expect was the same spell used on her. Her wand shot out of her hand, rendering her wandless. Smiling at Frankie, she approached the Gryffindor."Great job!Congrats!",she held out her hand for a handshake. She was not sour about it since she just joined for the experience.

Frankie grinned immediately as she managed to disarm her opponent. Impulsively she punched a fist in the air with a happy "Yes!" at her victory, but headed immediately for the center of the long platform as the other girl walked towards her. Taking the offered hand enthusiastically, Frankie gave it a few good pumps as she grinned at her opponent. "Thanks! Man, but thank you for giving me a good fight. I enjoyed it." Looking over at the professor, she wondered what happened now. She had won her very first duel, and it felt amazing.

Kennedy was glad to see such a civil duel, as they should be and was happy the two girls were such good sports about it all. "Frankie Tillington is the winner, and will advance to the next round," Kennedy announced, and then congratulated the two girls for their good performance once they got off stage.
