Professor Kingsley loved that the electives fair was held in the bright, sunny courtyard. It was one of her favorite places in the castle, yet she never seemed to spend as much time there as she liked. So, she was rather pleased to be able to spend an entire afternoon. Ensuring that tables were set up for the elective professors, Cyndi fixed up her half of the ancient runes one. She left plenty of space for her colleague. With a smile, Professor Kingsley made sure each table had a bowl of treats to entice the children. Now, it was simply time to wait and hope all the students had received notification about the event. Even so, she knew she would be chasing second years for the next week or two.

Electives were very important, so Phoebe made sure she was early at the electives fair. As she entered the courtyard where tables were set up, her eye immediately fell on Professor Kingsley. Phoebe mostly knew her as Rose's head of house, but she had been considering taking Ancient Runes next year. She figured asking her about the subject was worthwhile, so she made her way over. "Hi Professor, my sister Rose is in your house. You teach Ancient Runes right?" Phoebe asked, holding back all her other questions for now.

It would have been a lie if Geo told anyone she'd not been waiting all year for this day. She couldn't wait to see what electives were on offer for the students during their next few years, and she practically skipped down to the courtyard that morning. It was still early, and she only saw a few people milling about, but she was quick to pick up the pace, wanting to see everything that was on offer. She heard Phoebe talking to one of the Professor about her sister Rose, and it was only then did Geo make the connection as to why Rose had looked so familiar during the holidays. She glanced at the Ravenclaw, before turning to the Professor at the Ancient Runes table. It helped that the second year already knew what she wanted to do after graduation. "Do Ancient Runes help with becoming an Auror?" She asked, quickly jumping to the point. She needed to know what her priorities were.

Being new to the magical world had it's problems, primarily that he had no idea what he was supposed to do after school. He liked all of the lessons, he like astronomy a lot. But he didn't know what to do with any of it. He knew that in the muggle world if he wanted to be an astronomer he had to study hard, do physics, go to university, study hard and eventually he could get there, but what was the usual path for people in the magical world. Did magical universities exist? Did he have the option to reenter the muggle world after school here if he wanted to, would those grades translate? it was why he had chosen to attend the fair, to talk to his head of house possibly, to talk to anyone who would be willing to listen to his questions and tell him what he needed to know to move forward. He couldn't spot anyone he wanted to talk to so he would wait, exited at the opportunity to just talk to anyone about his future prospects in this school. He didn't quite know where his heart lay but he would soon find out he was sure and he could pursue that endlessly.

Professor Kingsley soon found herself busy. She nodded her head, smiling at a girl who said she was Rose Holland's sister. "I do" she replied, her attention now splitting to two students as another one came with a question. "It depends on you. You're required to get a NEWT that isn't from a core subject. Which NEWT depends entirely on you and what you feel would benefit you as an Auror" she answered honestly, hoping the girl would eventually speak to her Head of House to find out the benefits of each elective.

Irvine was confused by most of what the Electives fair was for. He was twelve and not ready to decide on a future for himself. He still thought he could become a soccer star. Irvine approached his head of house. "What are career options anyways?" He asked. The muggle-born had little ideas on what could possibly be an interesting career for him.

Phoebe was glad she had the right idea about what the professor was giving, and felt some annoyance when Geo Volt nudged her way inside the conversation to ask her own question. Impatiently, she waited for Professor Kingsley to answer the question, before launching into her own list of questions. "Alright, awesome. So, Professor. Do Ancient Runes only focus on one Runic language or does it cover several? Is it translation of ancient books and texts or is it predicting the future or both? Does it cover history at all? What about creating your own runes? And why should I pick it? I have so many electives I want to pick, and I really don't know how to choose!" Some boy was talking to Professor Kingsley too, but Phoebe thought she had waited long enough.

The idea of having to choose electives next year annoyed pril a little. How was she supposed to know what she wanted to do after school? Aside from becoming famous, and dancing, preferably both combined, but she didn't think any of the electives offered would help her with either of those goals.

She didn't spot any professor she really wanted to talk to, even though her father had encouraged her to talk to his colleagues about what she wanted to do. She did spot her friend, though, and eagerly bounded over to Norton. "Hey, Norton! Know what you're gonna pick yet?"

The electives fair was one of Jon's favourite times of the year. He loved answering the questions students had about muggle studies, and hopefully creating interest for the students to take the subject as an elective and want to continue it in later years when he would teach them. He arrived more prepared than usual for the event, being sure to bring a few flyers outlining information about the NEWT and OWL levels of Muggle studies. He was not sure if the current second years would think forward enough to consider their fifth, sixth and seventh years, but with the knowledge that some students had asked him about later years in the past he figured some form of information to hand out would be helpful. After arriving, he set up at the appropriate table for his subject and then waited for students to talk to him if they had questions about his subject.

Ryder had been looking forward to the electives fair because it was a chance to talk to the second years about why they should take his subject. He was a little bias but he was of the opinion that his subject was the best option available, though he had also been quite partial to care of magical creatures when he had been at school. Ryder made his way to the courtyard and set himself up beside his subject buddy Professor Phillips. He was glad the other professor was there so he could field any questions about what the course entailed when it got to the so-called 'business end'. Ryder nodded a greeted to Jon and leaned against his stand while he waited for the second years to make their way over.
