It was the beginning of Reuben's second year as Hufflepuff Quidditch captain, and he was as ready as ever he would be. It was a shame Carlotta had graduated - she'd been an excellent seeker - but he was sure plenty more students would come down to the pitch today to try out for her now available position. Reuben made his way down to the pitch and set up the equipment, waiting to greet the first arrivals. Apparently, Rudolf was co-captain of the Gryffindor team, now, which would definitely make games against his house more exciting. After a while some students arrived and Reuben attracted their attention. "Hey, guys! This year we need a beater, a seeker, and some alternates. I want to see you up there giving it your best shot! Before you take off, come and give me your name and tell me which position you're trying out for. Good luck!" Once everybody had heeded his instructions and readied themselves in the air, Reuben released the Quidditch chest and let tryouts commence.

OOCOut of Character:
Players from the previous year are guaranteed their spot without needing to try out again - as long as attendance is posted before try-outs are over. Alternates, however, will need to try out again.

First years are required to PM me for approval before attempting to try out - which will only be accepted if there is a need for more players.

In order to avoid the humilation of being dragged to the tryout, Austin promised his sister he would go and decided that to get her off his back he would keep his promise. After all, there was no guarantee he would actually make the team. He said goodbye to his sister and made his way down to the pitch with his new broom clutched in his hand. As much as he wanted to change his mind and go back to the common room, Austin had made a promise to his sister and he was determined to follow through. He made his way into the changing rooms and changed into some practice robes before making his way out onto the pitch. Nervously Austin approached Reuben to introduce himself when it was his turn. "Austin Branning, trying out for Beater," He said awkwardly clutching both broom and club in his hand.

Austin mounted his broom and took off clutching his club. He flew around the pitch to get comfortable, he was pretty solid on a broom but it was good to remind himself just how decent of a flyer he was. Once he was comfortable he began to circle the rest of the people trying out and looked out for bludgers. The first one he saw was heading for the captain who was helping out the chasers. Austin leaned forward and sped off to intercept the bludger, he wasn't even sure if the captain saw him but he flew off and continued to look. He stopped a bludger hitting one of the trialist seekers who wasn't looking for anything other than the snitch. Austin narrowly avoided a collision with a hopeful chaser as he only just got rid of a bludger that looked destined for his face. In all he ended up hitting four bludgers so was pretty happy when he returned to the ground. "Thanks Reuben," He said quietly and walked away.

Returning for her final year of school was a little daunting for Lydia but she was still going to enjoy it. She would work hard at both her classes and at quidditch, which was where she had found herself that day. Ready for another season of the sport, ready to get started on it. Ready to practice and maybe bring home that cup. Lydia couldn't help but think it would be nice to win a cup for her house. The teen smiled a little as arrived at the pitch greeting the captain warmly, before just standing, listening to what he was saying, nodding along to his little speech. She had her broom in hand and ready to just start flying. She smiled at him before getting on the broom and shooting up into the sky. She enjoyed the try-outs, she enjoyed practice and Lydia was just ready for another year of this, her final year of it.

Ares stood on the pitch, flashing a nervous smile towards the captain. he obviously didn't need to try out, but Ares always had a level of nervousness within him when it came to these sorts of things. He just wanted to be on the team, he wanted to be a good player like his brother had been. The fourth year nodded as the captain gave the instructions to the new comers, it was information he had heard before, information he didn't really need, but he still listened along to the captain. Ares got on his broom and shot up into the air, doing his usual warm up before getting into the thick of it with the new comers, those trying out and the old members of the team. It was always good fun he found, and all the nerves he might've had disappeared when he flew in the air.

Tess walked onto the field happily - this was her first time not having to be anxious for tryouts because she didn't have to be scrutinized. Instead she was there to enjoy a bit of healthy competition between those who wanted to play the game and the returning players. She hoped that this season would be better than the last.

Anthony walked out onto the Quidditch Pitch. He heard that they were doing tryouts today and he had been really interested in Quidditch over the last couple of years. Smiling at the others when he stood in front of them, he introduced himself. "Helloooo, I'm Anthony Jackson & I'm going to be trying out for the position of Seeker." He said, and excited as ever to get underway he mounted his broom and kicked off into the air.

Anthony waited for the Snitch to be released, and he immediately set into action. He zoomed around the Quidditch Pitch, putting all the practice that he had done over the holidays to good use as he chased that tiny little ball around the pitch. He had a few instances of being able to get his fingers on the Snitch but each time it flew away.

Smiling through the frustration, and keeping things up, he zoomed forward on his Amethyst Streak and chased the Golden Snitch with renewed focus, and just when he thought it was going to zoom way again his fingers closed around it and he had done it. He landed, and passed the Snitch back to the Captain. He hoped he had got the spot.

For all the stick Hufflepuff got the previous season and for all the abuse their captain had received, they hadn't been the worst team. Gryffindor had been, but no one was talking about that. Liam was confident that Reuben and the team would prove the doubters wrong. Liam made his way into the quidditch pitch and stood with his team while Reuben addressed the newbies. Liam had a good feeling about the new season. The tide was turning.

Matthew still felt lost at his new school and very lonely without almost anyone he knew here, but when he saw Quidditch Tryouts posted in his brand new common room, he knew he had to jump at the chance. He vaguely recognized a few of the other people there, including the captain who was in his year. He hadn't had time to look up whether or not New Zealand Quidditch rules would differ from American ones, but that seemed illogical. It had been a disappointment to see that his preferred position had been taken, but he figured being an alternate was better than being off the team. Especially because it might make him a friend or two while he was here.

He had been waiting quietly for his turn, not talking to anyone. So when it was suddenly his turn he almost stumbled over his words. "Oh! I'm Matthew Harper." He said quickly, very aware of how everybody here seemed to know each other. "I'm trying out for Keeper." He added before getting on his broom and taking off. He was glad to speed away from his housemates, still feeling awkward and unsure around them. In the air, those feelings disappeared. He grinned for the first time all day as he took his place in front of hoops. He obviously didn't know any of the chasers, so he couldn't really predict which ones would be better than others or what they would do.The first one threw the Quaffle hard, but Matthew managed to save it even though he couldn't keep ahold of it and had to swoop down to retrieve it, before he could pass it to the next chaser. The next one was blocked fairly easily, but he missed the third completely. He felt his face burn and some of his confidence leave him. But he still managed to save three out of five in the end, with one of those misses being really close. It wasn't what he had hoped for, but he hoped it was enough for an alternate position at least. He landed and nodded at the captain before hurrying back to the castle, not wishing to stay in his embarrassment.

This was it, Hunter waited three years to try out for the Hufflepuff Quidditch team. Three years of practice every school break and three years of his sister lecturing him on the dangers of Quidditch. Just recently, over the school break, Peyton got a chance to grab a newspaper from the wizarding world and almost plastered the sports section on his face. A former HNZ student who plays for a well known Quidditch league died but, of course, he was concerned. Although, he dream of playing Quidditch for real since he was a kid and this was his chance to do it. Quidditch Leagues needs great players and by doing so, he needs to improve his skill by joining his house Quidditch team. His sister, up until now, was bothering him not to join. Threatening him that their mum will transfer him and her back to Koldovstoretz which was not really going to happen. Hunter was stubborn and the youngest, that said, he wins all the time.

The third year Hufflepuff journey down to the Quidditch pitch with his broom while sensing Peyton following him. Whatever was up her sleeves, he has to ignore or all the practice he did will be dump in the trash. Arriving, butterflies seems to have invaded his stomach when a lot of people were there, Hunter had done flying with an audience before but they were just people hanging at the Quidditch pitch at the time and now they're the people who will judge him. Taking his last sigh of relief, Hunter managed to get to the crowd without tripping and faced the team's captain. Telling them the available positions and some word of enthusiast, the tryouts started, Hunted grab a beater's bat that was provided and waited for his turn.

The first person who tried out for the position of beater was good and Hunter was now thinking whether he was doing the right thing. Glancing at the bleachers, he caught a glimpse of his sister at the very top of the bleachers. She wasn't doing anything embarrassing yet but he was expecting her to do something. It was a challenge he's not going to back down. Once it was his turn to deal with the bludgers, Hunter came to the captain and stated his name and the position his trying out. "Name's Hunter Baird, trying out for the beater position." As he gave out his information, hunter mounted his broom and kicked off the ground. One hand on the broom handle while the other gripping the beater's bat. He started to get nervous again but once he saw a bludger moving towards one of the chasers, Hunter zoom forward, just enough time to block the bludger with a strong hit from his bat. The bludger went to another direction. The feeling to save his team mates in a real match was quite scary and yet challenging, the position needs a good eye and a fast broom and he has both of that.

As his try out continues, The third year was keeping an eagle eye from bludgers and saw the second one coming toward him. With a swing of the bat, the bludger launch somewhere else. His arm was getting sore but the reward after this might be great. Although, he frowned at the bludger that he hit, it was like it was going toward his sister's direction. He cursed under his breath and picked up speed to catch up with the bludger ready to dismantle his sister. Once he was near and reachable, Hunter counted on his head before swinging the bludger to another direction. Forgetting about a protective charm around the pitch to protect spectators, the Hufflepuff glance at his sister, her face tells everything bad about Quidditch. Hunter was getting pissed off that the last bludger he saw got a taste of his wrath. His swing is getting good but it was up to the captain whether he was a beater material or not. As he finished his try out, he flew down gently and announced to the captain that he was finished. He bid him goodbye with a nod and started to hunt his sister down. Peyton wasn't going to get a break from him.
