Professor Misha Haden led the two contestants to the stage, appointing them into the north or south part of the stage respectively. He told them both the rules as well as the point system before walking off the stage to just watch from a good distance. He was sure this would be a good clean game, but he was ready to step in if he was needed to.

OOCOut of Character:

All right, make sure that you use the spell list for guidance. No board rule breaking is acceptable. Have fun! I have a copy of the code that you should use with every post. Remember, when you are knocked out, unable to shoot anymore spells, you lost. And if you run out of points, you lose.
The duel begins now. If someone doesn't post after 24 hours, they are disqualified.

Of all the people Rudolf could have been paired with, it had to be Matthew, didn't it? The Gryffindor was doing his best not to channel his frustration into the Hufflepuff; the very last thing he needed was to duel him. Nevertheless, he took his position north on the stage and prepared himself to begin. As soon as Misha gave the all clear, Rudolf yelled, "Stupefy!"

Matthew couldn't believe he was paired up with the one person in this school that hated him. What he really wanted to do was apologize to Rudolf for how he had treated him before the break, but now he had to fight him instead. He figured that shouting sorry in between throwing curses at him wouldn't be a very good way to do it. He considered for a moment if he should let him win, but he sort of figured Rudolf would hate that more than losing to him. Either way, Matthew wanted to take this seriously. It seemed like the other boy felt the same, he barely waited a second before sending a stunning spell in Matthew's direction. Matthew blocked it. "Silencio." He sent at Rudolf in return, it would be a painless way of keeping him from using other spells easily. He wanted to win this but he was reluctant to use force right away.

When Matthew blocked his spell, Rudolf grinned. He's not bad, he thought, though didn't have much time to dwell on this before he was casting Protego to block the incoming spell. Readjusting his grip on his wand and planting his feet more firmly on the stage (clearly Matthew meant business), he fired a knee-reversal hex at his opponent, hoping to watch him stagger about a little. Man, he was going to have to be careful, or he might accidentally start finding this duel fun.

Matthew was surprised to find he was enjoying his duel. Rudolf was good, and he forgot all about his conflict with the other boy outside of the Duelling Chamber. All that mattered now was their fight. Matthew was too slow with his shield charm and tried to jump out of the way, though he was hit by the hex regardless. He looked in horror at his own knees as they reversed, and almost immediately started to lose his balance, waving his arms to keep from falling over. Thinking quickly while still trying not to fall on his face, he hissed a quick 'finite' to reverse the spell. The change of his knees back to normal almost made him lose his balance again. He managed to shoot a quick "stupify!" in Rudolf's general direction, though he didn't know if it had hit or not. He wished he'd had time to think of something more creative, clearly Rudolf was pulling out all the stops. Maybe he would think of a better spell if Rudolf gave him a moment to breathe. The other boy might really be better than him.

When his spell hit, Rudolf grinned widely, stifling a laugh at how ridiculous Matthew looked stumbling about with his knees on backwards. He didn't have much time to enjoy it, though, before he was back on guard, awaiting the Hufflepuff's next move. He easily blocked the stunning spell, and then launched immediately into a Bedazzling Hex. He might have been having fun, but he still wanted to win this duel, if only for bragging rights.

Rudolf's grin was infectious. "I looked majestic!" Matthew shouted at Rudolf after blocking his spell with a protego charm, grinning. "Admit it!" He wasn't sure why he was talking to Rudolf instead of sending a spell back at him, but this didn't feel contentious to him anymore, it was almost like they were having fun together. He wanted to get Rudolf back for the knee reversal jinx, so he sent a fur growing spell his way.

Despite himself, Rudolf laughed. "Yeah, sure, if that's what they're calling it nowada-" he began, only to be very rudely interrupted by a fur-growing spell. As his skin broke out in great tufts, he said, "Hey, I wasn't ready, you little-! Right." With a quick Finite to reverse the effects of the spell, Rudolf fired off a bat-bogey hex, smirking devilishly.

Matthew could hardly believe his spell hit and he doubled over laughing at the image of Rudolf with large tufts of fur all over him. He lookedridiculous. He was so busy laughing that he didn't even try to block the new spell Rudolf sent his way, and before he knew it he was trying to slap away a swarm of bats crowding around his head, accidentally hitting himself in the nose once or twice. He cursed and managed to end the spell with a finite, before he finally readied his wand again to face Rudolf. He sent a powerful Colour changing charm in his direction, hoping to see the other boy turn an interesting shade. This duel had started to become all about having fun instead of winning, at least for him.

If Rudolf had thought seeing Matthew with his knees on backwards had been funny, he was nowhere near prepared to watch him swat his own bat-boogers out of his face, with small success. He snorted, keeling over with laughter, his determination to win being fast replaced with a determination to have as much fun as possible. When finally he regained control of himself, he was already too late to deflect the next spell, which at first didn't appear to have had any effect. Then the Gryffindor looked down, jaw slack with shock t see that his arms were bright pink. "Dude!" he said, admiring himself. "Who would even try to block this?!" He didn't even bother to cast Finite before sending an Antler Jinx in Matt's direction; he was going to enjoy being pink for a second long as he could get away with it.

Matthew didn't mind that Rudolf laughed at him, it made him grin. It was funny too see how quickly the tone of their duel had changed. He himself couldn't keep in his laugh when the other boy turned pink. "It suits you!" He called over, his accent more pronounced than normal because of his laughter. It wasn't a surprise when Rudolf's spell hit him in return, he barely even attempted to block it. He still staggered back a steps from the sudden weight of antlers attached to his head. He snorted and reached up to feel them. "Now I look majestic." He said with a laugh. He nearly forgot he was supposed to send a spell back, but he pointed his wand at the pink boy. "Tarantallegra!"

Rudolf smirked as Matthew sprouted an enormous pair of antlers, almost forgetting that he himself looked utterly ridiculous. He cast a shield charm to deflect Matt's next spell, and then, now that he seemed quite distracted, said, "Stupefy!" Maybe it was mean to try to catch him off-guard, but the duel had to end eventually.

Matthew wasn't really expecting a spell like stupefy now, since they had been having fun sending silly spells to each other. His guard was completely down, and he didn't even try to cast a shield charm. He was hit in the chest by Rudolf's stunning spell and fell backwards onto the floor, unconscious. Two antlers still sprouting from his head.

The duel had gone rather well, two well matched fifth year student battling it out was definitely interesting, but in the end the hufflepuff was knocked out. He walked over, revived the boy, cleared away his antler before saying, "Since Mr Harper was no longer able to compete, Rudolf Lagowski is the winner," He announced giving a smile towards the boy who'd won and allowing them both to leave.
