Professor Styx leads the two contestants to the stage, appointing them into the north or south part of the stage. He reveals the rules as well as the point system. He walks off the stage and orders the duel to begin, as he keeps a watchful eye.
OOCOut of Character:
All right, make sure that you use the spell list for guidance. No board rule breaking is acceptable. Have fun! I have a copy of the code that you should use with every post. Remember, when you are knocked out, unable to shoot anymore spells, you lost. And if you run out of points, you lose.
The duel begins now. If someone doesn't post after 24 hours, they are disqualified.

When Reuben had discovered that his duelling partner was to be Rome Savage, he'd at first grimaced; Rome wasn't the sort of girl he had any inclination to cross at the best of times. But as the match approached, he began to think of it as a good opportunity to prove himself. If he won against an easy opponent, it wouldn't be anywhere near as proud a moment as if he won against Rome. He took his position on the stage and got into Ann offensive stance, ready to take her down. Then the match began. "Tarantallegra!" he said, starting with an easy spell and hoping it hit its mark.

Rome was good at duelling, and she needed to be even more so now that she no longer had quidditch. She needed both an outlet for her anger and a possible career path. She was glad her opponent was the weepy wimpy hufflepuff captain. The girl knew she would take great joy in taking him down, or at the very least hurting the boy. She took an defensive stance as he threw the first curse, one which she blocked with almost lazy ease. The teen twirled her wand, showing off slightly, before putting in all of her pent up rage into the spell she cast, a light one to start off, "Densaugeo,"

Reuben swallowed nervously as his first spell was effortlessly blocked. A sudden sense of dread had come over him, now that he'd begun to overthink the consequences of losing. If he couldn't take Rome down, how could he hope to be a competent Auror? No - he couldn't start thinking like that. His palms would start to sweat, and the last thing he needed was to drop his wand. Engrossed in thought, he didn't have time to cast a protective shield, and instead had to sidestep to avoid Rome's spell. Collecting himself, he returned to the centre of the stage and fired off a Jelly-Fingers Curse.

There was a deep look of satisfaction on Rome's face as the boy dodged her spell, she had hoped he would dodge it to the point of running away, but it seemed that he was less terrified than she'd believed. The teen didn't show any other emotion on her face as she watched him fire back, and once again she lazily blocked the spell. With no longer being on the team Rome had begun working harder on her duelling, begun working harder on her Defence against the dark arts, she was getting good at this in her mind, "Diffindo," she returned, the spell once again firing from her wand with an almost visible anger to it.

Reuben cursed inwardly when his spell failed to hit, once more briefly distracted, so that when Rome made her next move, he was unable to react quickly enough to lock it. This time, he didn't have the reflexes to move, either, and he felt a large gash tear open on his right shoulder. Urgh, his wand arm! He pressed his hand to the wound, grimacing, and then lifted his wand, filled with a new determination to win. "Confundo!" he yelled, clenching his jaw against the pain.

The slytherin could not help the elation that she felt when the spell hit the target, a smile suddenly graced her features, so unusual and out of place on what was usually a frown. She felt powerful, and that to her was the greatest feeling. She kept her wand pointed at him, and blocked his spell, she almost wished this was more difficult, she felt like taunting him, but rather decided to focus all her unspent energy on the spells she was casting, "Incendio" the girl cast, she liked that spell a lot.

Reuben couldn't believe it. All of his spells so far had missed, and Rome didn't even look slightly phased. In fact, she was smiling, like tearing a gash open in his shoulder was better entertainment than Quidditch. Though the Hufflepuff was distracted, he managed to raise a shield in time to block her next spell, another intending to cause injury. This girl was insane. "Stupefy!" he yelled, hoping to knock her out and finish this thing before he ended up in the hospital wing.

The girl almost laughed at the spell he sent back, they were fifth years, finally able to do some of the better spells and he was opting for that of all things. She couldn't help that she found it funny and pathetic at the same time, but what else could she expect from such a sorry excuse for a person. She smirked at him, and without hesitation cast, "Obscuro,"

This wasn't going well. Reuben raised another shield charm, his confidence (of which he had never had much to begin with) draining by the second. In his panic, he'd forgotten nearly all the spells they'd ever been taught, and now he was grasping helplessly at the far reaches of his mind trying to think of one. It was taking too long. He'd have to recycle. "Incendio!" he said, horror filling him as he realised what spell that was. Hopefully, it wouldn't hit.

Rome was always frustrated when her spells didn't hit the boy but this was what happened. The girl wasted no time in firing back, deciding to focus on just firing back, going back to snspell that she loved using, "Diffindo," she repeated, being firm in how she said it, venting her frustration with him.

For once, Reuben breathed a sigh of relief as Rome deflected his spell. His relief, however, was short lived; not half a second later Rome had already fired another spell at him, and once more he was too slow to block it. This time a large gash opened over his ribs, making him feel weak and lightheaded with pain. He pressed his hand against his robes as best he could while attempting to cast another spell, but he was too dizzy to focus, and before he could utter the incantation he stumbled to his knees and dropped his wand, defeated.
