Jean had been on the pitch for an hour by the time students began to arrive for tryouts. He’d wanted to get everything prepared, make sure that everything was just right for this tryout. The practice chest was on the ground beside him, open with the bludgers struggling in their harnesses. A few school brooms lay on the floor. By some miracle, Skye had actually named him captain, and Jean wasn’t going to waste his one opportunity to put the best team on the pitch. This year he’d be captaining his house team, and he hoped that a decade from now, he would be captaining his pro team as well. It was his dream. Focusing on the task at hand, the Gryffindor stood confidently in front of the others.

“For those of you who don’t know me, I’m Jean Snow” he greeted the group, his French accent not as heavy as it had once had been. “I’m the captain and one of the Chasers for the team. In a moment, I’ll send you up to the sky to do a quick lap around. I’m going to be looking for speed. After that, I want you to break off and play your position. If you want to try out for multiple positions, you can. Please understand that seniority matters to me” he emphasized, nodding his head at his friends whom he’d played with forever. “So if you were on the team last year, you’re guaranteed your spot if you’re trying out for the same position. Alright, give me your name and position and get started” he finished, moving to release the snitch and the bludgers. He grabbed the quaffle himself and listened as the students announced themselves and flew to complete their lap.

If you were on the team last year, you’re guaranteed your spot so long as you post here before tryouts end. If you were in the team last year and I forgot you, PM me! Everyone else, we can always use extra players and alternates often get to play, so please try out!

First years must PM me on this account prior to posting if you’re interested in trying out. You will only be able to try out if there is a need for additional players.

It was James's year. With the two older seekers having graduated he had a great opportunity to become the new starting seeker. He was quite relaxed at breakfast choosing to actually eat some toast for once. When he was finished he grabbed his broom and headed down to the Quidditch pitch for the tryouts. When he arrived at the Quidditch pitch he was relieved to hear that veterans would not have to tryout for their positions. James was happy and took a step back and stood with the others veterans to watch the trials.

Falon was beyond excited to try out for Quidditch again. She had been practicing hard and hopefully would be named more than alternative; she would love to actually play a proper game. The young Gryffindor made her way down to the Pitch along with the other hopefuls and was overwhelmed with happiness when she saw Jean and heard him say that veterans were guaranteed their spots. Still, when Jean said, she took to the sky, and flew her lap as fast as she could. After the laps, Falon flew around with the Quaffle, throwing and catching and scoring and missing, showing Jean all that she could do. When it came to an end, Falon was feeling exhilarated. As she left to the showers, she congratulated Jean on his position and trotted off happily.

Ailsa was exceedingly happy about the way that quidditch was going to be this semester, she was on the pitch, staring at their new captain and Ailsa had to admit that Jean was definitely the right man for the job, he cared a lot about their older players, the ones who'd been on the team a while, and she respected him far more than anyone else. The teen had her broom in hand, but felt confident that she wasn't going to have to try-out again, and instead was just going to be able to fly and help those who were trying out. The teen smiled easily at the man before just was so pleased that at least this year they wouldn't have to worry about any of the crazy things they'd had to do in the last semester.

Leo had been waiting a whole year for the opportunity to try out for his house team. He had imagined what it would feel like, and now, after a full meal to make sure he didn't go hungry during the try outs, he headed towards the Pitch where he saw other older students waiting. Not feeling intimidated by their presence, he smiled brightly and congratulated the new Quidditch Captain although he didn't know him very well. He hoped he was a good one. Once instructed, Leo borrowed a school broom available and after giving Jean his name and the position he'd be trying out for took off into the air, remembering every detail about his Flying lessons ever since. Despite his parents' protests, Leo had practiced his Flying skills over the summer break so he wouldn't forget how to fly a broom. He flew as fast as his skills allowed him. When he was done he went to the ground to grab a Quaffle and the second time he was up in the air headed for the hoops. He threw the quaffle in, flying around the hoop as fast as possible and managing to catch the quaffle. The Gryffindor tried again and again, catching the ball seven out of ten times. When he was done, he flew to the ground, pretty satisfied and grinned to himself. Being on a broom was so much fun.

After Arriving to the pitch, Archie smiled at Jean and said a quick congratulations on making captain before he stood confidently next to Ailsa with his broom in arms reach in case he needed to help anyone out. The previous year's tryouts were a mess to say the least and Archie was beyond relieved to learn that Jean was made captain and that all the veteran players' places on the team were secure. It was a welcome change of pace since Skye and Lowan's reign of terror and hypocrisy and it meant there wouldn't be another protest for their first game of the year. Unlike last year, Gryffindor actually had a chance to play well now that the power struggles within the team were safely put to rest and Archie was excited and motivated to see where the year would go.

Perhaps it was because her best friends were obsessed with Quidditch and always seemed to want to play that Marisol found herself heading down to the Quidditch Pitch after breakfast to try out for the Gryffindor team. She had practiced as much as she could with Asaiah and Wyatt and she felt confident in herself to tryout even though she was a second year. That's why when she realized there were no actual positions open on the team, the latina's face fell. Immediately her first thought was 'What's the point?' and she wanted to storm away, but then she realized she would be giving up too soon and that is not in her nature. As much as she wanted to at times, for various different things, Marisol Woods was not a quitter.

Marisol liked the challenge of proving herself and working her way up to get what she wanted. So if that meant trying out to be an alternate until she earned her spot on the team then she would do that. It was the same reason she wanted to go for Seeker, because that position seemed the most challenging to her. So with renewed vigor, the second year tried to put her best foot forward and listened to the captain give the instructions. She nodded in understanding and when it was her turn she introduced herself, "Marisol Woods, trying out for Seeker." Although the werewolf didn't have her own broom just yet, she had gotten comfortable practicing with the school brooms until she could get her own and grabbed one off the floor, ready to use.

The Gryffindor mounted it and kicked off the ground hard. With all the adrenaline running through her veins, she overshot the height she wanted to fly at and steadied herself so she was a little lower before she finally took off to do her lap. She cursed under her breath at her clumsy mistake because it made her look like a poor flyer, so she made sure to make up for it with speed. After the lap Marisol carefully steered the broom down in a smooth dive and carefully jumped off the broom once she was close enough to the ground. Afterward she waited for the snitch to be released to show them what she had to offer. She tried to keep an eye on the golden ball as soon as it left the box but it was too fast and she lost it before long. The latina was up in the air again, squinting around for the tiny ball and after a few laps around the pitch she spotted it by the hoops. Leaning against the broom's handle, Marisol shot towards it as fast as she could before it could change coarse and the next thing she knew her fingers were wrapped around the snitch.

Marisol grinned excitedly but tried not to let that get to her as she prepared for the next few rounds of its release again. Aside from one particularly long search in which Marisol was beginning to lose hope, the latina felt she did pretty good in catching the snitch at a reasonable time. After her turn was over, the Gryffindor decided to stick around and watch the other players practice and try out, if only to see who her competition was.

Rudolf was over the moon to hear that he was a real chaser now and not just an alternate. Getting a worse spot than his twin when he'd got an Outstanding and his twin a Dreadful in their flying exam had made him cross, although he was proud for Reuben. The Gryffindor stood on the pitch with his team, cheering on the other students who were trying out for alternate spots. Their role was much more important than was often realised - there were many circumstances in which alternates were required to step in, and they had to be just as skilled as the regular team, if not more so.

Jean completed his lap, zooming past some of the people trying out and having some trouble passing some of the others. He had high hopes for the team as he watched them work, watched how they interacted, and searched for their strengths. There were a lot of people returning as well, which he was grateful for. He had been sure that Skye would have done something to ensure that some of the old team didn't return. "Good work guys. Keep it up!" he yelled.

Tryouts will be closing soon. If you'd like to try out, now is the time!

Well it had happened, Lucas had been allowed to tryout for the Gryffindor team. He didn't know if the captain had given the same permission to Zara, hopefully he would see his fellow first year at the tryout. Lucas made his way down to the pitch and entered the changing rooms where he changed into a set of practice robes and grabbed a battered school broom and made his way out onto the pitch.

Clutching his borrowed school broom he made his way over to the Captain to introduce himself. "Lucas Woodlock, trying out for beater," Lucas nodded and mounted his broom taking off with a hard kick to the ground. With a borrowed club in his hand Lucas scanned the skis for the black balls if death that would be hurtling to his fellow trialists. He quickly spotted one heading towards a kid trying out for seeker, Lucas leaned forward and threw himself in front of him and sent the bludger the other way. "You're welcome," He said to the boy and flew on to find more.

When he was called down to the ground he had lost count of how many bludgers he hit. All that was missing was someone to hit them at. But that would come in time.

Mwahahaha.

Zara knew she would've gotten through eventually. It only took her puppy dog face and an incessant string of "pleasepleasepleasepleaseplease" for her to get through. Ever since that first night where Luke and her plotted their ultimate scheme to get on to the quidditch team, Zara had been ready. Even if it went a little iffy considering apparently the chasers were all pretty much set. That didn't stop her from begging, and of course it worked! The Jean boy wasn't too great with that, but she was sure he'd warm up eventually. That's why she was here now, skipping to the pitch with one of the dilapidated school brooms in her grasp and wrapped up in quidditch gear and robes. Her hair was secured tightly in to a braid, not wanting it to get in the way of her sight when flying.

Zar wondered if Lucas had gotten to tryouts as well, but that question was quickly answered when she arrived. Her eyes immediately scanned the sky and at the sight of the other first year hitting around the bludgers, grinned. Comment incroyable!* She seemed to have made it just in time... Pretty much. Making her way over to the captain, she waved. "Bonjour Capitaine! Remember me? Zara Lovette, trying out for Chaser. Or Seeker. Whatever's better." She didn't really care as long as she could fly fast and do pretty tricks. She liked to think she was pretty aerodynamic with her size and that some people underestimated her... Perhaps not the latter, Zar pretty much strived on her larger-than-life persona.

With that she was up with a firm kick. Spinning herself in the air at the excitement of being able to fly again, she completed her lap as fast as she could with the terrible school broom that she borrowed, her own adrenaline aiding her struggle with the broom. If only she had her own broom with her... But she didn't, so instead she'd have to do as best as she could. Managing to keep up with some of the older kid despite the handicap, Zara was both glad that all hope wasn't lost and proud at her own abilities.

Then they were split off and Zara was as ready as she'd ever be. First detouring and making a wave to Luke, she made a sudden swerve so that she could get to where she needed to be, rushing down to the ground with as much gusto as she could muster. Because of the broom, the turn was messier than she needed it to be and she cringed at it slightly. However once the snitch was released, she was back up in an instant, eyes not once losing sight of her goal as it looped around the players and the field. After a while of playing chase, Zar had enough. "Peek-a-damn-boo!" she cried, body bent over forward as she pushed the rickety broom to its maximum potential. Her fingers clutched over her target, and her mood instantly became a thousand times better. That was more like it.

After a few rounds of the same process, most which went much smoother than the first, Zar decided to move on to the position that she was really itching to play. Chaser. Although her braid was now disheveled, her energy was still intact and that was Zara's biggest strength. She may not have been the fastest out on the Pitch (definitely not with this broom) or knew the most tricks but she humbly bet that she had some of the best endurance of them all. Zara scooped up a quaffle with the same energy and enthusiasm as she had when going for the snitch. The day was kind of hot, and she could feel the sweat stick to her forehead but she loved it all the same. Going over towards the hoops, she started the process of throwing in her quaffle to the hoop and quickly speeding to the other side to catch it. However, she increased the difficulty of her tosses as well as the dives to retrieve it, trying to show off her range of abilities. Missing a couple, she knew it could only be expected and was fairly proud with her showcase overall. Although at one point almost getting hit by a bludger, she managed to make a sudden drop in order to avoid it, pulling back up as soon as the danger was out of the way. It was anything but easy, though she thought she played it off with as much grace as she could.

Eventually, even Zara got tired. She had lost track of her catches and her misses, but didn't think that was too important anyway. Gliding to the ground, she hopped off and immediately brought a hand to her hair, pulling it out of its braid. Too tight, too tight, and it was messy now anyway. Although wanting a shower, she decided to stay around and wait for Luke, whether to make the venture back with him or just congratulate him on his try out. Once Zar was finally off, she shot a wave over to the captain. "Bye bye Cap Snow!"

Now to shower. She really really stunk.</SIZE>

Her mother wished her luck as she left her office and headed down towards the Quidditch Pitch. Quidditch Trials were starting today and she was going to try out, she hadn't made many friends yet in the school aside from her cousin so no one had come down to her support her and she had begged her mother not to come down, a Quidditch Professional watching all the students might have freaked them out a bit, although most students must be aware that a Famous Quidditch Player was a Professor at the school but she didn't want her Mum watching anyway. Her Broom tightly in her grip she walked down to the Pitch, her Long hair loose and blowing freely in the wind, the young Gryffindor had played with her hair out so it didn't bother her, although she decided as she walked she would tie the top half up off her face to make sure she made absolutely now mistakes today.

Scarlet was wearing her own set of Quidditch Gear she got given for her Birthday from her Father, who was actually her step Father but he had brought her up and was also once a Quidditch Professional and flying Professor at Hogwarts. It was safe to say her Pedigree groomed her to be a Quidditch Player. Quidditch was her life, she would play all the time, she wondered if her Cousin Ryker would practice and play with her, She loved and enjoyed everything about flying, being related to her she hoped that he might like the same thing, but only time would tell, she only recently found out that she had a cousin her age, her other cousins, who weren't really cousins but her mothers cousins children were far too young to play with brooms just yet. A girl skipped past her and she checked her watch to see if she was late, she didn't think so and continued to make her way down.

Walking onto the Pitch she saw Student's in the sky already the Girl before her introduced herself and Scarlet waited, she didn't realize she would have to say her name, She was indeed a Frost, her Mother's daughter, the Quidditch Legacy on her name, she hoped it wouldn't give her an unfair advantage or disadvantage, but it wouldn't matter either way, her skills would show for themselves, she had been flying solo since she could hold onto a broom, she had a Quidditch Pitch in her back yard, she played Quidditch with her mother and sometimes was allowed to practice with the team, The Tuscan Charmers.
Scarlet walked towards the Captain 'I'm Scarlet Frost, I'm trying out for Beater, unless you think another Position is more suited for me...' Scarlet had her Beaters bat attached to one wrist and her broom in the other, she swung her broom down and took three strong strides and jumped off the ground not even mounted on her Broom, she swung her legs over mid air and used her force to push the broom faster, she made a quick arch and took her position as Beater, gripping the handle of her bat she casually had one leg down for her quick turns.

The play began and Scarlet did a quick turn and shot off towards where the Keeper was, hearing the Bludger grumbling as it made its way to it's first target, pulling her broom up she adjusted to Intercept the Bludger and made a powerful Swing with her bat, connecting with the Bludger she sent it off over her left shoulder to a clearing of no players. The Bludger not happy with it's new direction would surely come back soon. Scarlet hugged herself close to her Broom and did a quick barrel roll to get out of the way of a Chaser who was being chased by the second bludger Scarlet came up from underneath the ball and cracked it directly up into the sky cutting off it's chase.

Following the Ball up she lost sight of it as took a new direction, she pulled back doing a clean backflip and sat above the others looking out for the Bludgers to see who their next target was, Dropping her leg again she pulled the broom around on a sharp turn Following various bludgers that the other Beaters had not already pursued, a bludger came towards her and she did another roll to avoid it's flight path, purely defensive as it's strike sent it away from the team without any further guidance, Scarlet crinkled her nose, to see where it came from not sure if another Beater had knocked it towards her or not.

Dropping her altitude she heard another Bludger make her way towards her she led it away and it followed her falling into her play, she flew up at a shockingly fast speed, keeping her body close to the Broom before quickly stopping and turning to face it head on, pulling back her bat she hit the Bludger towards the opposing team with strong force and it sailed in a straight line, she hoped it didn't hurt anyone too badly when it made it's connection.

Once the Game ended Scarlet pointed her broom straight down towards the ground and made her way towards the ground, lifting the nose of the broom at a safe distance she jumped off her broom and used her hand to guide it right under her arm and walked towards the line up, she removed the strap from her wrist and stood in line; Holding the bat between her legs she stood her broom next to her and then tucked her bat under her arm in it's place and waited for further instructions from the Captain Scarlet hoped that one day she would be the Gryffindor Quidditch Captain as well, standing in the position trying out new students for team positions.

The young Gryffindor listened to the Captain end the Try outs and once dismissed she brushed her hand through her long brown hair and quickly looked around her to see if her mother was watching thankfully not. Scarlet hoped she got a position on the team, her one main goal in life would be to take over the family business and that would be the Quidditch team to one day be the Coach, Captain, Head Beater and Owner. Taking a Deep Breath she felt confident with her try out and walked back towards the Gryffindor Common room, but first she would go see her Mum and tell her how it all went and after her shower she would send an Owl to her Dad to let him know.

Lucas found himself amongst the gryffindors who wanted to try out for the quidditch team. He knew that first years weren't a first choice but nonetheless, being part of the team and practicing as a whole, was going to give him valuable experience and prepare him for next year. He generally had a laid back personality but he was surprised to find out how stressed he was. Quidditch meant a lot to him. It was the only thing that really mattered.

Lucas shook the tension out of his shoulders and approached the captain. "Hey! I'm Soares Lucas. I think I'm more suited for the chaser's position but I could play anything you won't me to." He said. His small stature was better for the chaser's job. His father had suggested that when they were playing together in the backyard a Sunday afternoon. Lucas actually liked the action that a chaser experienced. Steal the quaffle, avoid your opponents, fly fast and score. He loved all of these. He might wasn't yet an exceptional shooter but he could be really fast on a broom.

The curly-haired Gryffindor was fine with any post he might was assigned with. He mounted his broom and kicked the ground to jet himself into the air. His broom might wasn't one of the newest, faster models but he was still quick on it. His family wasn't affluent and he was content with the broom he had.

Lucas completed a few laps around the oval-shaped pitch. The wind brushing his face and his curly locks was an incomparable sensation. He could flying all day, just enjoying the view from up high but he had to get down to serious business. He decided to join first the students who were trying out for chasers. It was the first time he was going to play along with so many other people. He found himself fitting in pretty well. He passed easily the quaffle around and he found out he was good at snatching it. He attempted to score a couple of times but he had no luck.

Afterwards he tried for a keeper. Guarding and hovering in front of the hoops wasn't really appealing to him. Lucas actually found it too idle for his taste. He only managed to block the quaffle from passing through the hoops just once. Later, he found that the beater's position needed strength that he didn't have yet. Every time his bat struck a bludger, it was sent anywhere but towards the opponent he wanted to knock down. In the end, he tryout for a seeker with his arms hurting from the previous position. He was surprised to find out that he actually enjoyed this position. He had to chase after the golden snitch and actually succeeded in securing it in his grip in the end. He thought that it was too effortless. He was let to follow the snitch when he would actually have to detect it during a real match.

An hour later, his mouth was dry and his disheveled curls were glued against his sweaty forehead but his heart beat profoundly, a feeling of primal fire burning inside him. He didn't expected to end up in the main lineup but he was content if he was let to attend at the next practice. He wanted to watch the more experienced players and their approach to the game. As long as he was on the broom, flying around, he was the happiest person alive. Refusing to dismount his broom, Lucas flew back to the castle when the tryouts were over.

OOCOut of Character:
Tryouts are now closed. Be on the lookout for the results to be announced in the common room.

Jean called the tryout, ready to hit the showers. He'd seen some good playing out there and making cuts would be difficult. "Time!" he yelled, slapping high fives to his friends and dismissing the others. "I'll post the team in the common room later tonight. If you've made the team, first practice is Friday afternoon. Don't be late" he finished, heading to clean up.
