Vladimir Zhefarovich was definitely ready to offset the terrible year last year. The losses alone were enough to put the prideful prefect in a terrible mood. However, he had some hope this year. As long as his star team came by. And as long as Avie was not still grieving over a dead mother. If his mother died, good riddance. If his dad died, well, he was trained not to let death affect him. Strolling down the lawns, he made it to the Quidditch pitch, after letting everyone know about the try outs via flyers all over the Slytherin common room. With his clipboard ready, he mounted his broom and hovered some. He knew his team by heart, but none of them personally. He was a captain, not a friend. Once he felt everyone arrived and it was time to begin, he announced in a cold voice, "Greetings, I am Vladimir Zhefarovich, Captain and a beater, and a sixth year prefect. Old team, thanks for coming. Now, chasers, practice trying to score. Keepers will have to guard. Beaters, protect our team from the bludgers that are around, and there are more than two. And seekers, practice catching the snitch. Just walk up, tell me your name and what you are trying out for. Now get to it." He gestured with his hand to tell others to get going.

All right, short and sweet. One post is needed. Old players, just post your arrival, and you are safe on the team, unless you did not participate in the last two games, then you need to try out. We have a few positions available, but some might not show up, so everyone needs to try out. The more creative, the better!

First years need approval before posting here. Below is the current team and what's available!

Dressed warmly, Esmé Lancaster made her way toward the Quidditch Pitch, broomstick grasped tightly within a gloved hand. The previous year had been awful for the Slytherin team, which at first had put a small damper on her enthusiasm for the sport, but since the Winter Break had come to its end she found she was ready for a comeback. This year was it. She had a good feeling about it, and lately she realised her feelings meant a lot more than she had initially thought. Seer blood ran through her veins and she was to undergo training to manifest these latent abilities. Unfortunately, she doubted they would prove useful in a game of Quidditch.

As she stepped onto the pitch, the Lancaster girl raised her hand in a brief greeting to Vladimir. Zhefarovich. The name stood out more than ever since she had met Vulcan. Merlin, the family was big. She wondered if their patronuses were rabbits, because they certainly seemed to breed like them. The witch stopped on the field, waiting for the others to show up and keeping an eye out for Lucien and Avie, particularly.

Avie thoroughly enjoyed quidditch, and despite his issues last semester the teen was just looking forward to being able to get started. He liked flying around and he couldn't wait to play a few games and just have fun with the rest of the team. He had his broom under his arm, and couldn't wait, he had been up early, just trying to pass the time until he had to be at the pitch, which had in the end meant that he'd been swimming in the lake and was now, at the point of having to actually go to the try-outs, the teen was soaked from head to toe, dirt a little all over his clothes, but the biggest smile on his face. He had grown a little over the holidays, pushing just under 5"8, though he wasn't at all the kind of person who acted his age much less the height that he was and therefore how close to being an adult that he was. The teen made his way onto the pitch and then glanced around, noting he was one of the first people to arrive, but as he walked further he noted that Esme was there, he broke into a run, stopping just before her and then more calmly wrapping his arms around her in a hug, "Esme!" he exclaimed happily, pulling out of the hug and smiling at his friend, he was doing far better than before, "Rocky is doing really good, he's the perfect pet, my aunt didn't like him, and she tried to throw him away but I growled at her until she stopped and left," All he needed now was Lucien, whom he was sure would arrive soon, and he was glad to talk to Esme about his rock until they got to flying.

Lucien Snow was ready for the new year. The Slytherin team was going to have a better year than last year. There was no possible way they could get any worse. It was just a run of bad luck. The others just had luck on their side. Lucien was dressed in his Slytherin Quidditch robes, with his streak over his shoulder. He made his way down to the Quidditch pitch, ready to see his cousin. He looked over at Vladimir once he arrived, and then turned to see Esme there. He decided that he was going to greet her. "So, I heard Vulcan transferred back just for you. You must have made quite the impression on my cousin on your date." Lucien paused for a moment, before he added, "And if you want to know the relation, Vulcan is Vladimir's little brother." Lucien figured that she might want to keep that in mind. Vladimir scared most of the students within the family. And there was a reason too. Not that anyone knew outside of the family. He looked to see Avie and he waved in greeting, "Hey Avie, hope you are doing okay."

Iason was looking forward to this year and getting it well underway. It was his 6th year and he was well aware that this time next year would be his last time gong through start of year rituals and watching try-outs - it was a little surreal. Arriving on the Quidditch Pitch Iason watched the new recruits trying out for their preferred spots, hopefully Slytherin would have another good year, ever since he had been on the team they were one of the top teams in the school and he enjoyed being on the winning side. Once tryouts were over Iason headed back up to the castle, looking to get a head start on some work for the new year.

Zechariah arrived on to the Quidditch pitch, annoyed at the boring old routine that current team members have to show up for try outs to keep their position on the team even though they mostly didn't do anything while there. He had hoped he could have just said he still wanted to be on the team instead of having to drag himself out of bed - at least he didn't mind Quidditch and actually enjoyed it, so it wasn't the worst thing in the world to get out of bed for. When tryouts started Zechariah opted out for just lazing about on the pitch and decided to get up in the air and hit about a few bludgers, these new people needed to learn how to act around them and in a real game it would be a lot worse than just him going easy on them. Once tryouts were over Zechariah headed back up to the castle, wanting something to eat before going for a nap.

Antonia arrived on the pitch nice and early, a smile on her face and broom clutched tightly in her hand. Quidditch try-outs were rather important to her and this year she was quite determined. Being an alternate was all well and good, but actually playing was a lot better in her young mind. And so, as her murky gaze swept over the other people on the pitch, Tony made sure to hold herself high, no slouching and no comments which might dampen her chances. Even if she didn't actually make it as a player there was always sitting on the bench again for the matches. Something she didn't want to happen, far too boring and it would feel like all the practicing she had done over the summer would be a complete waste.

"Antonia Valkyrie trying out for chaser," she stated clearly with a smile. She was better than the rest of them, she just knew it and nothing was going to put her off. Mounting her broom she roughly kicked off from the ground, sailing up into the air and stopping some meters off the ground. Sitting back she lifted her hands off, pulled a hairband loose from her wrist before leaning back to tie her long hair into a ponytail, she hardly wanted it to get in her face while she was trying to play. Once she was quite confident it was tied up tightly she set off to go and score a few goals. It took a few shots to get her aim back, but soon she was making accurate throws and completely thought that she was showing off to the best of her ability. It was a good thing she was actually paying attention too because came heading right for her, obviously hit a little wayward. Her eyes widened before she ducked her head, the ball whizzing straight over the top of her head as she swerved, eyes narrowing at the culprit. "Oi! You nearly took my bloody head off."

The ccowl on her face for the rest of the try-out, once it was over she slowly drifted back to the ground, sighing a little when her feet finally touched down. Untying her hair she dismounted, shaking her head as she let her hair fly free before she turned to the Captain. It was time to see if she had done a good enough job or not.

Aras Ivanauskas found himself among the Slytherin Quidditch players and those who were striving thyself to become part of the team. He would have never imagined himself belonging to the second pool of hopeful Slytherins, wanting to play for his house's team. He was dedicated to spell casting, aspiring one day to become a great professional duelist but recently he had been flirting with the idea of trying his luck on something different. "Aras Ivanauskas. I'll try out for chaser." he stated to the captain. Aras believed that this post matched him the best. Chasers' job included action, the adrenaline rush he was looking for and at the same time, the weight placed on their shoulders wasn't as heavy as the seeker's, whose performance was in the end defining the outcome of a match.

Now on his broom he made a couple of laps around the pitch to warm up, with fluctuation in his speed. Then he joined the other chasers. Passes was the easy part. His blue eyes were following the red ball. He was grabbing it, keeping it in his possession, even snatching him from other chasers. His offenses at the goalposts were rapidly performed, darting at high speed. He passed through three other chasers with a spin and sent the quaffle through the middle hoop. He had more shots to score throughout the training session. He performed several maneuvers designed to distract or mislead the keeper away from the hoop through which Aras tossed the quaffle. He enjoyed this feint techniques of attacking or retreating and he was looking forward to try them during a real match.

Alana took a deep breath before she entered the pitch. Her red eyes scanned the group of Slytherins already on the pitch getting ready for tryouts. The teenager hadn't come back to school with any intention of trying out, but on the morning of tryouts she had decided to just do it. She didn't have a broom and didn't have a uniform either. With every step she took towards the group, Alana was fighting to not turn around and run the other way. Finally, she was in front of the captain and listening to the instructions as she looked at the other members of the team. She knew them all only by face.

"Alana Finch. Keeper" she replied, her red eyes dropping to the ground. She moved to the brooms on the ground and picked up the one that looked the least beat up. It was a Nimbus, and as she sat on it, she realized that it listed to the right. Kicking off, Alana leaned forward and moved to the goals. She circled them once before she hovered right in the middle. As a chaser made her way, Alana kept her eyes on the girl's hands. When she threw the quaffle, Alana was ready and caught her shot easily. It wasn't long before she had another opportunity to defend a shot. This one slipped through her fingertips and right through the left hoop. Alana slammed her hand on the broom.

By the end, Alana had saved 4 goals and let 2 through. She wasn't sure how that would be seen by the captain at all. Tired and sweaty, she headed back to the ground.
