Laying in bed, Ai Edogawa was glad that the past year didn't end as bad as she thought it would. Ryuuji had already graduated and she was sincerely happy for him, along with that, Hades had also graduated and left the team on her. She certainly didn't expect that kind of responsibility to be given to her but she gladly accepted. The Hufflepuff reluctantly got out of bed as she remembered that she still had things to do today. She quickly took a bath and readied herself as she wore her Quidditch uniform presentably. As she deemed herself ready, she grabbed her broom and made her way to the Quidditch Pitch where she would be waiting. Ai didn't have to wait long as the potential members of the team had soon arrived. When she thought that everyone was there she spoke, "Welcome everyone. I'm Ai by the way," she said before flashing a small smile. "Before we start the try outs, I would like you to state your name and the position you want to try out for," Ai waited until all of them had already spoken and with a nod she gave out the instructions. "Those trying out for Chasers would have to practice shooting quaffles through the hoops. Keepers will be at the hoops to guard. Bludgers would be flying around the pitch and that would be the beaters' duty to keep the others safe. Lastly, Seekers, there are golden snitches around the pitch, go find or seek them," she said before taking a short breath. She opened the chest were all the quaffles were and smiled to the potential members. "You may begin," she said as she began to watch and judge the occurring try outs.

Jessie had never considered joining her house quidditch team. She loved flying, and was a decent flyer but the sport never grabbed her the way it had some others. However, over the holidays she spent sometime in England with her family and saw a couple of Professional Quidditch matches and something changed. She was hooked and she knew that when she returned to school she had to tryout for the Hufflepuff team. Jessie had gone all out on her new hobby, when she got home from her holiday she began playing Quidditch with her Dad, practicing her flying and improving her skill so that when she got back to Hogwarts she was confident that she would be able to make the team. She woke early that morning as she was too nervous to sleep, for the days leading up to the tryouts she was confident but when the time came to go down to the Quidditch pitch she was suddenly hit with nerves.

Jessie skipped breakfast and headed straight down to the Quidditch pitch, she had her brand new Emerald streak slung over her shoulder. It was a pricey broomstick for someone so new to the sport to buy, but her father insisted that if she was going to play she would need the best equipment. Jessie headed into the changing rooms and changed into a set of practice robes and headed out to the field. The Captain Ali Edogawa was standing front and center in the middle of the field greeting the hopefuls. Everyone took turns introducing themselves and their prospective positions, when it came to her she stepped forward, "Jessie Vega, Chaser."

One by one the hopeful players mounted their brooms and got off and made attempts to wow the Captain and earn a place in the team. Jessie was one of the first ones to go, she mounted her broom and kicked off hard. It felt good to be up in in the air, to have her robe flapping behind her as she took to the sky. One of the other students trying out for chaser handed her the Quaffle and she darted over towards the hoops. She pulled up a few yards away from the keeper and looked him dead in the eyes, holding the quaffle under her arm. She took a few minutes to study the keeper, the way he flew, if he hovered closer to one hoop or if he was dead center then she pulled away and she began to pick up speed as she flew around the hoops and began.

When she was a few yards away from the keeper she took her first shot, throwing the Quaffle, the keeper had been flying just off center to his left, so Jessie threw the Quaffle to the hoop on his right, and her left, the Quaffle dinged the corner of the hoop and fell in. As the keeper dropped down to collect it, Jessie pulled up and reflected on the shot. She gritted her teeth, yes she had scored but it wasn't a pretty shot and she could have easily missed. Suddenly the Quaffle was back in her hands and she was darting at the hoops again, she weaved in and around the hoops trying to get the keeper off his balance, she weaved left he weaved right and she dropped the Quaffle into the center hoop. Jessie was pleased to have scored a clean shot. Her third shot was her worst. There was no fancy tricks, no weaving, she pulled up alongside the keeper on an angle and just threw the Quaffle into the corner hoop. The keeper took it firmly in his hands. Jessie slammed her fist on the tip of her broom showing her frustration. Her last two shots went through the hoops but Jessie was still disappointed to have had a shot saved. She sluggishly made her way back down to the ground and dismounted her broom.

Proserpina Laurent made her way down to the Quidditch pitch with her Quidditch robes upon her developing body. Proserpina was starting to feel confident about her looks now, since she was for once not breaking out with acne. That was the best thing. Proserpina tied her golden hair behind her and she looked in the mirror. She could say that she looked fierce but she was more of a cuddle person than a fighter, which was why she was not suitable for the beater position. She thought that being a Chaser was amazing, there was a lot of speed and a lot of action. Proserpina loved it. She wondered if Romaine would have liked to see her try out this year. She could only do it every now and then. The captain was no longer scary so she would have a good reason to be down there today with a smile on her face. She had heard that the captain was Ai Edogawa, and Proserpina was so happy for her, and knew that she would do great as a captain. She was only a year younger too. That would mean that she would be captain for not just one year, but plenty! Proserpina smiled and then headed on down to the pitch, which she noticed that it was just perfect weather for try outs,

“Proserpina Laurent, trying out for Chaser!” Proserpina waited until she was free to mount the broom and go up to start passing to the other chasers. She wondered if they were going to be doing something different from last year. And it seemed like they were not. She shook her head and she mounted her broom, where she soared up and went toward one of the hoops. Proserpina had to make sure that her balance was good enough, and she held her broom carefully while hanging on to that scarlet ball. Now that she was just comfortable with her broom after a year of owning it, she knew that she would not any trouble with balancing. Surely the keeper would be doing well and trying to defend her score, but she could try her little Hufflepuff heart out when it came to doing this and make a few goals. She prepared herself as she drew her arm back and let the quaffle fly. Seeing a quaffle fly, she saw that it was guarded. She saw it tossed it back to the chasers and she hoped that she would be able to do to score better. During the time she was trying out, she scored a few, and she helped the keeper try out too. It was only natural. She flew back down and she landed once try outs were over. She smiled to the captain before she walked off, hoping she made the team.

<FONT font="times new roman">As the morning of the Quidditch try outs grew nearer, Bridget's anxiety grew stronger. On several occasions, she had even considered destroying her plans to be on the team altogether. The night before the big day, Bridget had only picked at her food in the great hall. Usually, she could eat a bit of everything in front of her and still have room for dessert, yet her appetite had completely diminished under the stress of tomorrow. With a growling stomach, Bridget hazily decided that it was time for bed. It was early, but her fears had utterly exhausted her. Her muscles were tense and her body was racked with nerves, and she knew that it would take her several hours to fall asleep - if she managed to sleep at all. Bridget dragged her heavy body back to the common room and into her dormitory. Since it was early, the room was empty besides one other student, and she changed into her pyjamas and slipped into bed. That night, Bridget had several dreams about flying. In one of them, she had been about to catch the snitch, and had then suddenly fallen off her broom, plummeting down..

Bridget woke with a start. To her surprise, it was already morning, though it was certainly early. This was clear by the amount of girls still snoring lightly from the other beds. With her stomach in absolute knots, Bridget pushed open the maroon drapes over her bed and clumsily washed and dressed. As a last minute thought, she pulled her thick red hair back into a ponytail. She was going to run into enough problems today without her hair getting in her face too. Picking up the Nimbus 2000 by her bed, which hadn't been touched since her arrival at Hogwarts, Bridget made her way down to the Quidditch pitch.

The Hufflepuff captain, who's name was revealed to be Ai, seemed enthusiastic about the team. This gave Bridget a little courage, though it quickly evaporated when she glanced around her. Everyone else trying out for the team was almost twice as big as her, and certainly looked as though they'd had a lot of practice. Bridget hadn't even had the courage to try her new broom yet. "Bridget Riley, trying out for Seeker," she said uneasily, swallowing back a lump in her throat as she mounted her sturdy broom. Before she'd even left the ground, she immediately realised that this broom was a lot different to the one she was used to riding. Ignoring the surge of panic that flashed through her, Bridget kicked off from the ground. Not only did the broom handle differently, it was also considerably faster. She shot up as high as she dared, sweat prickling at her forehead despite the cool morning breeze. Once she was above the other Hufflepuffs, she pushed firmly on her broom and levelled out to scan the pitch. As she looked down at the ground below, her vision swayed and she gripped her broom so tightly that her knuckles turned white. It was high. No, it was very high. "You can do this!" She muttered under her breath, determined not to let her fear show. She had come this far, and she wasn't about to give up.

At that moment, a brief flash of gold caught Bridget's eye. Snapping into action, Bridget soared to her left, narrowly avoiding another team mate as she focused all of her attention on catching the snitch. Robes billowing out behind her, Bridget reached out her arm, edging closer and closer to the golden ball. She swiped, missing it completely. "Ugh!" She spat loudly as she came to a halt, the snitch no longer in sight. Determined not to give up, she quickly flew back up and found another snitch. With her eyes locked on it, she sped forward, head bowed to increase her speed. This time, when she reached out her arm to grab it, she was successful. Thrilled with her achievement, she pulled back her broom and came to a graceful halt on the grass. Though the day had gone better than expected, she couldn't help but feel a little disappointed that she'd only managed to catch the snitch once. She thanked the captain and headed back to her dorm, her heart still in her throat from the rush of adrenaline which she yearned for so much.

Come on guys!! We still need at least two beaters and a chaser! I'll be allowing firsties to try out...

Kelsey had never before been inclined to take up the mantle as Quidditch player, it was.. weird some how that she would even be considering it now. She had be deliberating over it for weeks and now that the day was here, she suddenly didn't know what to do with herself. Flying on a broomstick was pretty easy, so trying to fly around and play a game on one couldn't be too hard either could it? At least, Kels hoped for it to be true. She had always liked watching the game. Why not, it was an interesting and fast paced game, but she had never actually been on the field and actually be flying around after bludgers and quaffles and snitches. It was all a little overwhelming, if not totally crazy. She walked along to the Quidditch pitch and watched as all the other students announced their names and the position they were trying for. Kelsey listened to each one, because she did not know what she would want to do in this situation, not really. She didn't know what position she would be good at. However listening to the others, it sounded like they were going to need some Beaters here. So that was likely a good place to start. When it came to her turn, Kelsey stepped forward and announced herself in a heavily british accent. "My name is Kelsey Ariyah Boneheart. I will be trying for Beater." She called and moved to retrieve one of the bats from the ground. Well this was going to be fun.

Once she was given the go ahead. Kels mounted her broom and kicked off from the ground, alittle harder then she had meant too. She shot up into the air, barely in control of the broom, but luckily, she regained control quickly and found a bludger. It was looming above her head. Had she not stopped her ascent, she'd have likely run straight into it, probably knocking herself out in the process. Kelsey flung the bat around in a less then expert manner and winced as one of them missed another beater by only inches. She quickly turned away and headed in the opposite direction, not wanting to cause a confrontation with the girl. It would not have been pretty in the least. Kelsey closed her eyes and breathed out. She was going to have to get a grip if she ever wanted to be on the team. She went after a few more bludgers before returning to the ground. That had definitely been an interesting flight, to be sure.

This is only because I love you Marga!

Quidditch was just something that even in his remoteness, Graeme had heard of. He wasn't a very good player he thought. but he had keen eyes, and a sort of pleasure in flying. He had some previous experience flying. Not really of quidditch, since he'd had no one to play with ever. But he'd been to games, the Pride of Portree was a great team, and a team who practiced often in the hillsides of Skye. Hidden from the tourists and the general people. The quidditch pitch there was open to others, and Graeme had flown a couple of times on it, but he was much better at footie. Though that was not a sport offered to the kids of Hogwarts it appeared. When he heard about the quidditch try-outs the boy had thought against it. He was be terrible on a team. He had barely any practice, he wasn't entirely great on a broom, but what did he have to lose. He wasn't able to mountain bike, or hill walk. The closest he could get to freedom was flying. And so, on a sunny morning, the boy was waking up after a restless night thinking that all he had to do today was try to make the team. Try and be a good player. He didn't have very high hopes for it, but he would try everything once. That much was certain. If he didn't make it on to the team he would have to just try again next year, and then the year after. Every year giving it his best shot, and then hopefully he would make it on to the team. He would make the home team proud by trying out. After all, the nickname for the Pride of Portrees was the Prides. He'd bring pride with him as he tried out. Giving it all he had, and wishing that he just didn't fall off the broom and seriously hurt himself. That could be all he wished for.

He grabbed his old broom, one that had been handed down to him from his father. A man he hadn't seen in years. He got dressed in a sort of casual clothing. Sports clothing that the teen usual reserved for playing football with his mates. He walked on to the pitch. It seemed so much bigger than the other one. Though he was sure they were completely the same. He watched as each person introduced themselves and then flew up into the air, ready to get started. He smiled at the captain an older girl, Ai or something. He remembered her from that first night. Smiling at her, he spoke clearly, and with him dulling as much of his accent as he could, "Graeme Fergusson, Graeme spelt, G-R-A-E-M-E." he said, as the person seemed to be writing each person down. He wanted the correct spelling of his name. And through his experiences traveling, people assumed his name was spelt G-R-A-H-A-M. Which for him wasn't true at all. "And am gonnae be tryin' oot fae Chaser" He said nervously. Before he was given the go ahead and then flew up into the air. In a less than graceful fashion. But it didn't matter he was there, to catch, fly and shoot. He was placed into a team to play with, Graeme wished himself well, and then flew forward. It was now or never. He had to give this his best shot, or he would be doomed. He didn't want to chicken out. He was Graeme Fergusson, of Clan Fergusson, Sons of Fergus. Clann Fhearghuis gu brath! He thought to himself as he began to play.

The other people trying out seemed better than him. He fumbled with the quaffle as someone in his small team passed it to him. Almost dropping it in the process, but managed to keep a hold of it. Someone from the other team flew directly towards him, so he quickly threw the quaffle back to the free chaser in his team, and avoided colliding with the other player. He drove his broom forward. Ignoring whatever worries or fears. Just focusing on the game. As if it was just another game of football. All in all, it went pretty well, he only fumbled with the quaffle twice more. And even managed to get a goal in. Finally it was over. He flew back to the ground and had a massive smile on his face. Thinking that while it could've gone better, it also could've gone a lot worse, which made him incredibly happy. Now to just wait and hear whether he managed to make it on the team.

Although William hadn't played Quidditch the year before, he felt like he should give it a go again. He really enjoyed playing the last time, and even though he didn't win, it was enjoyable to play with a team. However, this time he didn't want to be something that was score-deciding; he hated letting his team down. So, with that in plan, Will asked his twin to help train him to become a beater. He had become fitter and stronger. Not only did it help him feel more confident for his try-outs, but he felt more confident in life. He had yet to find a girl who he could dote on, but he knew that when the time was right, he would find himself a wonderful person. He couldn't wait for that moment, however he had to focus on right now. And right now, he was walking down to the Quidditch Pitch, broom in hand.
The young Hufflepuff approached his Captain and Prefect, smiling at her. She seemed like a lovely girl, and he remember his last try-outs where she tried out for Keeper opposite him. Ai had gotten Keeper, and Will was placed as Seeker, but he didn't mind as he was trying out for both of them. "William Aria, trying out for beater." William said smoothly, grinning. Mounting his broom, William shot up into the sky and immediately started looking out for the bludgers. Not too long afterwards, William saw a bludger speeding towards one of the chasers. Zooming in front of it, Will aimed to a spot out of the way and smacked it with all his might. A loud crack was heard as his bat collided with the bludger, and it spun off in a different direction. Grinning, Will flew around the pitch, his eyes still wide open. He kept flying around, blocking bludgers from hitting the other students, and also using the time to practice his precision, sending them in the direction he wanted them to go.
By the time the try-outs were over, William was grateful. His arm was beginning to ache, though he was sure he would be able to go for a bit longer. He landed smoothly on the ground, confident he had secured himself a spot on the team.

Sarah glanced in the mirror, making sure all of her fringe was held back by her black headband. She had been growing her fringe out, but if it got in her way, she would get it cut off again. Quidditch was that important to her surprisingly. A faint smirk appeared on her face. Who knew that a girly-girl like her would enjoy Quidditch so much? She certainly didn't expect it. Checking once more that her hair was all out of the way, she smiled once, nodded in satisfaction, and left the dormitory making sure to grab her Streak on the way out.

Reaching the Quidditch pitch, Sarah's eyes narrowed when she saw that not many people were there yet. She wanted Hufflepuff to do well this year, they had done okay in the last few years that she was on the team, but she was determined to make them win this year. Even if she had to drag the whole team kicking and screaming to get that Quidditch cup.

'Hey Ai!' she exclaimed chirpily, grinning at her. Congratulations on getting Captain.' She continued grinning, before becoming serious. 'Sarah Keith, trying out for Chaser as usual.'

The Hufflepuff fourteen year old listened to Ai's instructions, and nodded once. Mounting her Streak, she flew up in the sky, and snatched the Quaffle from mid-air. She had been Chaser for three years now, and knew what was expected of her. She leaned forward, speeding up the broom, and did a few stunts that she had learned over the years from some of the older girls from the team, especially Kate, who had been practically Sarah's older sister. it was ironic, at first Sarah hated Kate and was jealous of her, but then the two of them had gotten close by the time Kate had to leave.

When she reached the hoops, she threw the Quaffle hard at the left hoop, whooping as it went in. She caught the Quaffle again, feinting left, then shooting hard right, cheering again as it went in. Sarah demonstrated many shots, most of them went in, but some of them were blocked. But overall, she thought she had demonstrated that she had the experience and skill required to be on the Quidditch team. And because she had worked with Ai before, Ai knew that she would definitely not choke under pressure.

'Good job!' she called out to the Keeper, offering them a smile, before flying back down to the ground, dismounting, and stood there, watching the rest of the tryouts, curious to see how everyone else would do. She really hoped to get a spot on the team again this year.
