Hi all!
This year, weve decided to give something new a try and run a White Elephant Gift Exchange. It also goes by a few other names- Yankee Swap, Dirty Santa, Steal-a-thon, etc. For those of you who dont know, a White Elephant typically asks each person to bring a gift to a party. Gifts are piled up, and participants then take turns either picking a sealed gift or stealing someone elses open gift.
. Thats the gist of it, but the full process is listed below. Read on if you plan on playing. 
I couldnt find one thats been played on the internet before, so this is going to be a bit of an experiment. 
It might end in disaster or it might turn out to be great fun and something we can continue doing for years to come. We wont really know until we try. 
Thats where you come in! The first 12 people who sign up will be able to take part (If this goes extremely well, perhaps we can try to expand this to include more people next time we play). Because we are limiting the number of participants, please only sign up if you know that youll be able to be active (signing in at least once a day though preferably more) over the next while.
Once sign-ups are closed, each player will receive a PM from me with their assigned position.

2. A) Starting with player #2 and after, each player will have a choice: You can either steal a previous players opened gift or choose an unwrapped gift from the pool. If you choose to steal a gift, you must announce the person you are stealing from and their gift:
This will help me to better keep track of the chaos.
If a player chooses to steal your gift, you may choose a new gift from the unwrapped pool or from any player other than the one who just stole your gift (ex. Player 4(Pat) steals Player 1 (Donnas)s gift. Donna must choose either a new unwrapped gift or she can steal a gift from Player 2 (Emzies) or 3 (Claire)
x (you). Donna cannot steal back her gift from Pat in this turn).
3. After every player has had a turn, Player #1 will have the opportunity to steal a gift if they so choose. And, of course, if you have your gift stolen, then you can choose to steal another gift. Once someone decides to not steal a gift, the game is officially over and prizes will be rewarded.
