Closed When water is thicker than blood

Christian steadied himself against the railing. Vixen’s accusations stabbed him straight through the chest and back into his spine. She was his little sister; he had abandoned her and Ivaylo. And did she really mean what she said, about accepting his family? About their mother?

Christian felt the urge to vomit all over again. But he heard her words loud and clear. Go home. Go away. As much as he now wanted to sit down and talk things over, he couldn’t. If he tried to comfort her, she might just tear his head from his shoulders. An attempt at an apology might get him turned into dust. So he did what a rational wizard would do. He stood up straight, his face drained, and disapparated with a crack.

The journey home was long. No way could he have Apparated all the way in one shot like Ivaylo had. Christian had to make four stops, resting quickly in each place. His stomach was still churning when he made it home. The place was dark, the windows left open, letting in a sea breeze. Teuila and Natia were gone. He knew he should go immediately to his in-laws to check in on them, but he was absolutely shattered, nauseated, and exhausted. Christian crawled into bed and fell into nightmares.
