Samson Kolpeck was a tall slender man, highly intelligent and a master healer. He had just returned from St. Mungo's where he had worked since leaving Durmstrang so very long ago now. Turning around to survey the sitting room he tapped his pockets both his trousers and his robes, until he found the infernal letter he had been given by the board of directors. Sitting in the hard red leather chair by the fireplace he opened it once more and perused its contents again.

He had much to consider, much to consider indeed. They had offered him a place on the board. He knew this would mean less time with patients but the possibilities would be endless for what he may be able to achieve with that position, yet he was no desk man. Preferring the use of his wand, his medicinal potions and the faces of the patients he had healed over the years. Glancing up at the plague over the fireplace he frowned in thought, his Order of Merlin first class had come at a price. All his hard work, the many of hours he had toiled in his lab at the hospital, worked ceaselessly with patients for a cure had meant time valuable time away from his family.

It still irked him that his daughter had chosen the same career as himself but he was also proud of her, very proud. He turned his head as he heard the front door open and waited for her to enter the sitting room to greet him.

Entering the house Corinne could not believe that she was actually home at a reasonable hour. Of late it seemed as if all her time was taken up at the hospital and as enjoyable as this once had been, she found it was draining her completely now. She also knew that had her mother still been alive it would be a major bone of contention. Corinne removed her travelling robe and hung it on the coat hook before walking into the sitting room. Smiling at the sight of her father she went and kissed him on top of his head.
"Evening Daddy" noticing the letter in his hand and the look on his face, Corinne knew something was about to said and something serious at that. He had specifically sought her out at the hospital today telling her to try her best to be at home preferrably before ten o'Clock. Well 9:50pm wasn't so bad really. She stifled a yawn as she went to the bell and tugged on it gently.

Candice their housekeeper came in straight away with a tray all ready with tea, milk, sugar and even some sandwiches.
"Thank you Candice" she sat down opposite her father and waited for Candice to leave the room again before pouring them both a cup of tea, taking her time putting in his one spoon of sugar and drop of milk before stirring and passing him the cup.
"So what was so urgent Daddy" taking her own cup she sat back in her chair crossed her slender legs beneath her long healers gown and watched him as she waited.

Samson looked at his daughter as she entered, smiling at her as she kissed the top of his head. He waited as was their routine now for her to summon the housekeeper and sit while they then had tea and could talk about their day.

When all seemed at last at rights, he joined the tips of his fingers together as if making a spiral out of them. Regarding her for a moment, he finally continued.
"I have been offered the directors position at the hospital but have refused it. Instead I am going to be running things at St. Mungo's New Zealand, I hear they are in grave need of a midwife of your calibre. Would you consider joining me there?"

Corinne placed her cup back down on its saucer and at first acted as if she had heard nothing, then very slowly she met his gaze and exhaled a gentle breath.
"Why so far away?" her mothers death was along time ago now, he was well over it as she was. Time had been a great healer. She could think of no reason why he needed to go traipsing half way around the world on a whim. It surely couldn't be a midlife crisis wasn't he a bit old for one of those?
