The Weekly Update
Another week, another Weekly Update.
I'd like to apologize for the lack of an update last week, but things are busy over the holidays and it's tough to make regular updates to the site, then take the time to announce them. So we did post a few smaller announcements instead. 
That having been said, this will be the last "Weekly Update" until after the holidays.
The Holidays on HNZ
An announcement was post (click to view) regarding the holidays on HNZ, well, Chanukkah has begun and as such the Winter theme is now donning a Menorah which we are lighting in synchronization with how the menorah would be lit. So each day, after sunset (EST) another candle has been lit.
Secret Santa is still underway - so if you've signed up, make sure you're getting those gifts made! I've already got mypathetic excuses for gifts made. 
So if you're in the same boat as me, now we wait anxiously for our own gifts.
Other smaller changes should be occurring for the holidays over the next three weeks, so keep your eyes peeled!
Board Search
With a recent announcement by ZetaBoard's creator and developer, Brandon, all ZetaBoards forums now have a very powerful and customizable search feature available.
Ever since its InvisionFree days, this forum has been using Google Search and when converting to ZetaBoards we became aware that our forum had too many posts to use the ZetaBoards search feature.
Now, with this new system, Hogwarts New Zealand has its first fully functioning search system!

HNZ: Application Rating System
One of the many updates which have made this site better and easier to use over the past year was our automated application forms. Now, we've added to many applications a rating system, out of 10, to indicate how likely it is for you to be approved.
For instance: a 10 out of 10 means it's almost guaranteed that you will be approved, and a 1 out of 10 is almost guaranteed that you will not be approved.
On many automated form pages you will see the rating system, the best example of this system is the Special Traits and Abilities Form, if you select an ability from the dropdown list the rating system will automatically update to indicate how likely approval for that trait is.

HNZ Twitter
The HNZ Twitter Page has been updated to be custom to HNZ. No more yucky defaultness! I'd like to thank Sephora Finette for filling the request with the graphic we ended up going with, and anybody else who made graphics for our consideration. 
New Blog Entries
HNZ's Site Staff Blog has been updated with several more entries coming from your staff. If you have the time, and are interested in doing so, please read our posts then reply to the blog posts. Your feedback to our posts (especially when we mention HNZ-related things) is greatly appreciated.
Quidditch
Quidditch is beginning! Two matches have been posted which you can view in this forum and RP your character's responses to the matches in The Stands.
Elective Choices
In the coming week, all second year students will be contacted by their Head of House regarding the selection of elective courses. Be sure to make sure your second year character(s) attend any scheduled meetings, or at least PM your Head of House with elective choices.
Brightstone
Brightstone Village will be opening to Students Tomorrow and closing again on the 29[sup]th[/sup] of December. Happy roleplaying!
Yearbook Photos
The Hogwarts Yearbook(Accio!) Staff have asked me to remind you about making sure you have submitted your character's "mug shots" for the Y8 yearbook! You can submit the graphics in this forum and they do all the work! You need only submit an image so they can work their magic. Not sure what this yearbook is? Check out last "year's" edition!

Another big thank you to Livvy for compiling this list, and anybody who submitted RPs to be highlighted! Remember: If you want your RPs, or an RP you've read, to be highlighted - just PM Cecily Zhefarovich a link and a description of the plot.
