The Weekly Update
OOC Superlatives: Voting
Voting has officially opened for the OOC Superlatives! Make sure your nominations carry through to award-winners and vote now!
Details are included in this topic.
OOC Superlatives: Userbar Competition
Every person who wins an OOC Superlative wants to brag about it, obviously, and we'd like to help make that a lot easier. So MESSI is holding a Graphics Competition for an OOC Superlatives userbar. In every category, the base you create and the site votes on will be used to list the category and the winner, then it can be shoved in the winner's signature for everybody to see!
HNZ Site Staff: Official Blog
After a series of events, Livvy and I decided to make a site blog. We all have individual ZetaBoards blogs, but there are certain drawbacks to them - so we felt a site blog, where all site staff can rant about HNZ, life, and everything in between (though we should all know by now that HNZ = life ) would be a better alternative to things.
The blog has been created here and may be linked to in several areas of the board shortly. There are a few blog posts by myself and Livvy to start (we hope Linda and Abby will get on board as soon as they can).
More information on the blog can be read here and we hope you enjoy!
Note About Creating HNZ-Based Sites
This is an area I didn't think would be necessary to touch on, but over the past month it has become evident that it is in fact quite necessary to discuss this.
HNZ is unique, and it's run as such. Everybody who contributes to this site has the rights to their work, but grants the admin/mods of HNZ certain rights to go with them. For instance, our theme was made by Athene Perthro, our default avatar/HNZ Crest by Kagyou Wu, our team icons by Lemina Troque and our custom emoticons by Tony Alraur. That's just the visible things. There have been so many intellectual contributions to the board it's impossible to list them all. As such, it seems kind of off-colour to start a website based on all these things, and even perhaps using some of them, without talking to site administrators and getting proper permission first. We do appreciate the dedication to this board, but things are likely better if they're run by site staff or those deemed appropriate by the site staff.
Closing Holiday Forums!
Students will have until tomorrow (anywhere from 4:00PM to 6:00PM EST) to finish up all roleplays in the Wizarding World forums. At that time, those forums will once again disappear. Make sure your characters say adieu to their loved ones and return safely to Hogwarts.
(Y8) Semester 2
Semester 2 of Year 8 started today - that means classes are opening again, and your student character(s) should be posting in lessons! That also means quite a few things are coming up including:
[ul][li]Apparition lessons for 6[sup]th[/sup] years

[li]Prefect selections by Heads of Houses for Y9
[li]Headboy and Headgirl selections by Admin for Y9
[li]2[sup]nd[/sup] years choosing electives
[li]The annual wheel-barrow race[/li][/ul]With all that excitement coming up, it is important that you keep an eye on the site calendar and make sure your characters are where they should be.
New Zealand's Ministry of Magic: Big Plans
I'm shifting my own focus on HNZ, with the school section stable and growing, to the Ministry of Magic where time and time again we receive complaints of relative inactivity. My first step to soothing these worries? Hiring more Aurors. Death Eaters on HNZ have always been strong, but even they have had a lull in plots as of late, and much of this is likely due to the lack of an Auror presence on the site.
As such, Aurors have their own usergroup, team icon, colour, and planning forum. Everything a group needs to prosper on HNZ. Now we just need to fill up the group! So make sure to have your character apply via this form.
Once Aurors are all lined up I hope to have some larger plots going on where everybody can have a bit of excitement in their daily recommended dose of HNZ.

Plot Highlights
Once more, we encourage submissions to this section of the update. If you feel your plot is worth a read, or somebody else's is, just send Livvy (Cecily Zhefarovich) a link and a general synopsis.
Now, your highlights for the past little bit:
[ul][li]Together - (All Around the Wizarding World)
-Involved with another, Kiera Kingsley is asked a question that will make her choose which half of her heart to follow.
[li]The Secret Wedding of Godric's Hollow - (All Around the Wizarding World)
-In a private ceremony, two young loves are united in marriage.
[li]Reporter's Gone Wild! - (All Around the Wizarding World)
-Three reporters run into each other in the Leaky Cauldron. What could possibly go wrong?
[li]A Night of Firsts - (Great Hall)
-How can I possibly explain this? Go read it! Lucy and Landon are too adorable.
[li]Merry Christmas Baby - (Great Hall)
-A stolen bottle of firewhiskey turns an otherwise pleasant Yule Ball into a near disaster for a group of friends.
[li]Meeting the Step-Mother - (All Around the Wizarding World)
-A new family's first Christmas goes horribly wrong when a member lashes out.
[li]This is what God had in store for me... - (All Around the Wizarding World)
-Remus Firn breathes his last. His family will never be the same.
[li]Taking Care of Business - (7th Floor Corridor)
-Somebody has defiled the wall in the 7th floor corridor, leaving behind a humiliating message. [/li][/ul]
(Thanks to Livvy for making this list )
With that, the update is done.
We have a lot more upcoming, and most of it was alluded to in this update. But just in case you only skimmed the update, or only like to read the ending bit, here are some things to look forward to:
[ul][li]OOC Superlative winners being announced
[li]Graphics Competition voting and winner announced
[li]Site Staff blog posts
[li]Some "MESSI" fun for December
[li]Hogwarts excitement

[li]Ministry of Magic plots (and Death Eater deaths?!)[/li][/ul]
Until next update,
~Nick
