Having organised a time for their Defence home-work, Rukevra made his way towards the gardens slightly early. Dressed in a loose fitted pair of dark jeans and a short sleeved shift, the young wizard attempted to run a plan through his mind for the forth-coming event. With the pair having studied at Durmstrang at one point or another, Rukevra felt the level of magic used could possibly out-step what it should within Hogwarts. With only brief knowledge of what Andromeda knew, the young Gryffindor had little idea how their practice would go.

Arriving at the Gardens several minutes before the agreed time, Rukevra took a seat up-on a low wall and awaited his fate. He couldn't doubt for a second that his friend was much better than he was, and he knew himself he rarely ever paid attention at the Institute.

Short and sweet.

Andy smiled when she saw Rukevra sitting on a wall obviously waiting for her arrival. She looked at her watch and knew she was on time though.
"Do you know how tempting it was to knock you off the wall?" she chuckled climbing over the low border and standing in front of him. She had kept it basically simple today, her wand was tucked into the pocket of her
jeans, her long sleeved black ti-shirt with her gryffindor short sleeve ti on over that. The weather was holding up fine as well, the last few days weren't exactly warm and it had rained a bit but the ground seemed firm enough.

She walked over to a nice level bit of grass and took in the scene about her, there wasn't much thankfully in this part of the garden that they could use against one another. There were bushes lining her right while the low wall he sat on was on her left and they were far enough away from prying eyes so they could do some bit of damage without getting called out. Now that she was no longer a prefect, Andy smiled it was fair game. Taking out her wand she tapped it to her forehead, her stance relaxed as she looked at Rukevra.

"Well should we get this on or would you like to sit and chat for a bit?" she winked at him, hoping to disarm his state of mind from the onset.

During his brief moment alone, Rukevra began to think towards his future again. For the next few weeks he had to show himself he was determined to succeed, and show his professors he was capable enough to utilise the abilities he had been gifted with. The momentary silence was broken however, as an un-mistakable voice coed behind him. Sitting himself up-right, Rukevra smiled a greeting towards Andromeda; giving a some-what laughing sigh at the dressed down items of clothing she appeared comfortable in. "It appears I am saved from stepping onto the floor.". Rukevra could do nothing but smirk. "However can I re-pay your change of heart.". For the first time since he arrived at the school, sarcasm poured from the young boy.

Stretching out his legs, the fifth year watched his fellow house-mate seemingly survey the area. Was she looking for some sort of advantage to use. The only things Rukevra noticed where a line of bushes; and some grass. Andromeda certainly had an air of confidence about her; something that Rukevra often lacked at the worst possible time. Something that was super-seeded by his lack of thought in heated situations, causing him to rush in heart first instead of thinking the out-come through. Today would be a similar situation. The young wizard felt it wasn't going to be easy, but chose to go with the flow regardless.

Hearing Andromeda's invitation to begin, the young boy took out his own wand; remembering briefly that the girl had two of her own. Standing to his feet, Rukevra responded. "We could conjure a few picnic items and have such a lovely afternoon.". His grin wide across his face.

Let'sss get readddiee to rumbleeeee! :linda:

Andy had to laugh at his comment about picnic tables she gave a low bow never once taking her eyes from him.
"I'm sure we could but how about we keep my celebration meal for after I've won this duel" she grinned, realizing then that her other wand was in the other pocket she removed it and looked at it carefully before deciding to play fair. Using her other wand she banished the wand she had inherited from her uncle back to her house where she knew she would find it later save in her trunk.

"I guess I should take out the knife in my boot, the gun in my holster and the other ton of weapons I had planned on using" she was finding this all highly amusing but knew that on the turn of a dial she would be in dueling mode.
"Come on then let's get this show on the road before it is breakfast time".

The young girls laughter eased the current situation Rukevra was voluntarily walking in to. The sound eased his obvious un-certainty for all of a second, as Andromeda proceeded to bow; her eyes fixed up-on him all the time she did so. At her words, the young wizard gave a dis-appointed shake of his head. Even though her win may be true, he suddenly began feeling hungry for a picnic.

At the sight of Andromeda's second wand, the young boy couldn't help but feel slightly cheated. If she intended to utilise the second object, then he would have to find, and borrow, another for himself. As the additional and was vanished, Rukevra felt a little revealed. He had seen both wands in use before, and, even though it was a basic spell, he wasn't about to face them down today. Catching the girls next set of words, Rukevra rolled his eyes. "Oh no. Please. Use me as target practice.". The young boy frowned slightly as he too bowed. 'Target practice' was the wrong reference to use.

With Andromeda's apparent urgency to complete the task ahead increasing, Rukevra raised his wand in anticipation of an impending attack.

Andy merely winked at him this time. The smile stayed fixed in place but it was not the 'I'm a good girl' smile that many knew about the school, it was the other kind. The sort that let you know that you were a dumb fool for challenging this particular Gryffindor to a duel especially before she had coffee. True she had set the time but she was counting on her out right morning mania to get her through, something that would not subside until she had her first cup of steaming hot java.

"As you wish" she straightened out her wand arm and with a determined flick of the wrist pointing at the spot just in front of Ruki's feet Andromeda cast Incendio.

With little hesitation, the fiery red-haired Gryffindor responded to his ridiculous request. Rukevra knew he would have to concentrate, but his mind was anywhere but the duel between friends. Almost as soon as her first set of words where spoken, Andromeda gave her wand a flick and initiated an attack. Incendio. Rukevra barely had a second to react as a wall of flame erupted from the ground in front of him. Jumping backward, the young wizard knew it was going to get serious.

"Okay. You need to make your mind up about this picnic.". Rukevra gave a flick of his own wand, extinguishing the flames. Although, a barbecue wouldn't seem like a bad idea. "Come to think of it. A dance wouldn't be so bad either.". Re-composing himself as he spoke, the young wizard gave his wand a flick once more. "Tarantallegra!".

Andromeda liked a good quip as much as the next person, loved a bit of banter but not while she was about to fry a person. She smiled as he extinguished the flames, they were after all just a warning shot for him to get his game face on. Expecting something alot more serious to come at her, Andromeda jumped into a backflip, the spell bolt flying beneath her but just barely. She landed in a crouched position facing him with the most sardonic of smiles.
So he wanted to dance with her did he? Well he wasn't going to be much good with his pants around his ankles.

"Descendo" Andy aimed her wand directly at his trousers then readied herself to defensively against whatever he threw at her.

As the spell shot from the tip of his wand, Rukevra began to picture the girl dancing awkwardly; but was a little disappointed as she performed a gracious back-flip, barely missing the spells contact. Nodding in approval as he watched her in her crouched position, the young wizard missed the counter spell she sent towards him. Suddenly feeling a slight breath of cold against his legs, the Gryffindor looked downwards to see his trousers where they shouldn't be.

"Oh very funny.". Rukevra couldn't help but laugh. So far the small duel wasn't so bad. Deciding his friend needed to laugh too, the young wizard flicked his wand; and spoke clearly and sharply. "Rictusempra!". Pulling his trousers back up, Rukevra awaited the out-come of his own attack.

Andy began to chuckle as Ruki's pants fell down.
"Not a bad pair of legs mate" she giggled a hand went to her waste as she began to suddenly and uncontrollably change from her light chuckling laughter to an almost maniacal one. Knowing that she had been too busy being amused to stop her opponents spell getting through, Andy attempted to cast finite on herself. The effort was difficult enough because all she seriously wanted to do was roll about the floor in gales of laughter. When finally she did get the spell to clear she pretended quite convincingly in her own mind to still be under the spell before flicking her wand in Ruki's direction and calling out 'Silencio'

With little hesitation, Andromeda had begun laughing madly. His spell had connected. Feeling better himself, the young wizard knew his friend could be a serious person when required; and placed himself on alert. He expected nothing less than an attack whilst she thought his defences, along with his now re-fastened trousers, where down. As he watched the young witch attempt to control her fit of laughter, Rukevra heard the word Finite. Focusing his attention on her mouth and wand, the young wizard listened for further words.

As the under-hand tactic shone through, Rukevra heard once again Finite; as Andromeda continued to laugh un-controllably. Still on high alert, the fellow Gryffindor tensed his arm awaiting an inevitable attack; before spotting the movement of the girl's wand. 'Silencio!'. The word was barely audible as Andromeda still continued to laugh. Knowing he couldn't cast a non-verbal spell, Rukevra put effort into his defence. "Protego!".

"If you wish for me to remain silent, you only have to ask.". The young wizard beamed at the girl. He only wanted a little fun. "I would applaud your tactic, but it may be too noisy for you.". Rukevra knew he could push the young witch further, making things much more interesting. Flicking his own wand once again, the fellow transfer attempted to dis-arm his opponent, "Expelliarmus!", glad she had chosen to use only one wand of her own.

Andromeda smiled indulgently at him as he managed to block her incantation but his own back to her was at best sloppy. She was more than prepared for something basic and 'expelliarmus 101' was always inevitable. Andy leaped to the side as the bolt flew past her. She corrected her earlier surmise, predictable perhaps but there had been nothing slovenly about his administration of the spell. If she hadn't moved aside as swiftly as she had, she would most certainly have been disarmed. Her hand flew up and with a fick of her wrist she sent the 'jelly fingers jinx' at him.

She moved back slowly, watching him wearily like a predator. It was often times like this that she wanted nothing more than her werewolf traits to shine through more. How often had she downplayed how much faster she could be and how much stronger. Looking at him now she was just grateful there wasn't a full moon due, being alone with any boy was deadly at that time of the month after all and with Crispin leaving her at the end of the school year she had been adamant to herself that from next September on wards she would not leave herself alone with any boy come hell or high water anywhere near a full moon.

It was rather a dumb spell to use, but it was certainly worth the shot. Seeing the young girl become flustered at having to re-claim her wand would have been rather enjoyable. The fun wasn't to be however, as Andromeda leapt to the side with relative ease. So far she had shown great subtlety in her manoeuvres, as if she exercised regularly just to be capable of moving faster.

Before the young wizard had any sort of opportunity to react, a curse had struck him. It was mere seconds before his wand had hit the ground, his fingers unable to continue grasping the length of wood. Typical. He wouldn't be able to reverse the effects if he couldn't pick it up again. "Okay. No more comments.". The young boy smiled, leaning forward and attempting to scoop his wand from the grass. "A little help?". Well it was worth an ask.

Knowing it was likely to go un-answered, the fifth year knelt against the ground and used the palms of his hands to roll the wand back into his possession. Once he had achieved this, after several minutes of trying, Rukevra turned it towards himself and cast 'Finite!'. His fingers returned to their previous state. Rukevra swiftly spun his wand, before firing another spell at Andromeda; aiming directly for her chest. 'Furnunculus!'. It was going to become a lot more serious now.

Andromeda waited as if every moment of this duel rested on his actually getting hit with this particular jinx. She knew damn well they were both mucking about so hadn't really expected him to take the hit. Why didn't he get out of the way or use finite on it as it approached or something? The only conclusion she could come to was that Ruki had obviously not been in as many duels as she had. Standing her ground once again, always at the ready she waited with infinite patience to see just what the boy would throw at her next. The Furnunculus was said loud and clear aiming squarely for her. It was most likely the manner in which he said it but Andromeda did not jump aside this time. It was time to show him just how it was done.

"Protego" the shield was up instantly and she held it perfectly doing Professor King proud. She could still remember the classes where that had been drilled into them in first year, the basic spells were usually the most effective. Without pausing a beat she felt the jar of the bolt strike the shield and once down she flicked he wrist, aiming at Ruki's face knowing it was now his ears she was aiming to block. If he couldn't hear the spells she cast, he couldn't do much in the way of defending himself properly against them.
" Muffliato"

Watching as his spell ejected from the tip of his wand, Rukevra began to tense up. It wouldn't be long before pointless jinxes changed into more meaningful spells. Seeing the shield cover Andromeda from his attack, the young wizard swore at himself. Of all of the years he had been a wizard, he had barely ever met anyone in a duel. Experience had its advantages, but the young boy knew if he put his head into the game; he could have a chance of out-smarting his friend.

He would have to think better than he was, and after this attack; as the flick of Andromeda's wrist led to a buzzing in his ears. He had been hit again. Anger flashed behind the young boy's eyes. This gentleman began to feel his ancestry run through his veins. Raising his voice as much as he could, Rukevra powered a spell back at the girl opposite him. 'Silencio!'. He had no idea how fearful his words had sounded, and would not know if it made contact whilst his ears still buzzed. With her being un-able to speak, however, anything she wished to attack him with would have to wait.

As with his other attacks, this one had a chance of being blocked. With his eyes focused, and his breathing steady, the child of Death Eaters watched for the tell-tale flick of a wrist.

From here, this can either go right; or it could go wrong.=))

Andromeda had already her badges of honor for duelling, she seemed to get into them either friendly or otherwise at least every other month. She didn't always go out of her way to look for them of course, some were merely practise sessions as this one was supposed to be while others
like the one she had fought against Bruin, had been a tank full of pent up emotion. Her skills were well and truly honed though she would be the first to admit that she could always benefit from learning some new tact, some new style or spell. Sometimes she put her love of the wizarding chess game into play in her duels, a good strategy was a definite must but what she had also discovered when coming up against fellow students was luck had an awful lot to do with it, that and stupid emotions getting in the way.

At least with Ruki she was emotionless. There was nothing stopping her from blowing him to kingdom come if she so chose. Her cocky Gryffindor nature had her down as the victor already but the more sane side of her told her not to let her ego get one up on her here. She watched now as her own spell struck gold, hit it's victim like an arrow through the bulls eye but she had to be on guard with him at all times. He was after all an ex-Durmstrang and was probably as wiley as any sly fox. She could hear his incantation as if he were standing beside her he was so loud. It was easy to block as a result. Though part of her would have probably found it amusing to see how she might be silenced. Probably half the professors would be itching to witness that one.

She seriously wished he would put up a decent battle as she spun in a swift arc so the speed of her turn would somehow mask him from reading her lips as she sent the Jelly Brain Jinx hurtling towards him.

Two weeks late, sowwie. :(

Watching the girl opposite him, the young wizard began to wonder why he had actually asked someone to participate in a duel. Yes, it could be said they are useful if you are to be attacked by another being; but then if that was true, they where likely intending to cause harm; and would not fire off silly little jinxes. With Andromeda having yet again blocked his counter-attack, the young wizard pushed it aside and fixed his eyes upon her. As if she had planned out each of her moves already, the young girl spun swiftly around; and returned another counter-attack of her own.

Not watching her eyes, or any part of her face; as it had been obscured momentarily due to her turn, Rukevra narrowed his vision on her wand hand; the slightest of movements giving him enough time to react before he was inevitably hit again. As if he himself had read from some sort of script, the young wizard caught sight of wand movement; and instantly dive-rolled to his left. He would certainly have to act fast, with the buzzing still in his ears; it would become more difficult over time to keep watch on the girl's wrist and lips, and lip reading was not a strong point.

Still in mid-roll, the fellow Gryffindor hit back with a Trip Jinx; hoping that his landing would have been enough to cover his actions, along with a not-so-loud incantation. If he could knock the girl over, maybe he would have a better advantage; or be capable of moving out of the way of her own counter's easier. Knowing he had to stop the buzzing, Rukevra, still on the ground, put a stop to the affects himself; before preparing for a retaliation.

You're back!! :glomps: <_< don't you stay away like that again without letting me know.. was worried :(

Andromeda wanted to laugh as once again her spell flew down the garden towards Ruki, she knew he was having difficulty hearing anything but this was just too much fun. Of course she should have known better, any time she got distracted or too cocky in duel something invariably went wrong. As quick as her own spells were, he finally managed to get one to hit its target or maybe it was just her own clutzy self coming into play. Whatever it was, Andy was standing one moment and the next she was quite literally falling over her own two legs. As she attempted to stand up again she looked down, there was definitely nothing in the way and she had definitely heard him use the trip incantation. Fuming she stupidly tried to stand once more but fell back again.

She couldn't help it now though, a smile crossed her face and then a chuckle escaped her. Before she knew it she was laughing heartily and had to clutch her sides. She hadn't had a decent duel in ages, the poor saps she was usually up against were often taken out in minutes. Casting finite on her legs she stayed on the ground a moment, her legs bunched up and her arms laid across them.
"I had forgotten how much fun some of those jinxes could be" she chuckled finally getting up and brushing the grass from her jeans. Standing as if about to duel him with a sword she chuckled once more, anyone near by would have been convinced she had been hit with a cheering charm for all her mirth.

"Ok Ruki, en garde".

No. I will also likely be away this week too.

Crouched, his weight on his back leg, acting as a smaller target; Rukevra watched as his attack struck his opponent. The girl fell to the ground. Finally, he had managed to do something worthy in this dual. with her attempts to stand up amusing him, the young wizard smiled; but kept his eyes on her, and his head clear. With even a single lapse in focus, he would most certainly be hit again.

Eventually finding the funny side to the day, Andromeda burst into laughter. It had only taken her a handful of spells, and a bump to her behind. Watching her closely, the fifth year noted the end she put to his jinx; but listened to her as she spoke. Seeing her enter a stance, the young boy looked up. It was evident she could do with laughing a bit more, she certainly seemed to enjoy herself when she was. At the invite to prepare yet again for dual, Rukevra rose to his feet. "Indeed. You should laugh more; it suits you.". The boy smiled again.

Taking his own stance, Rukevra prepared himself as asked.

She was prepared for many things but the compliment that so easily fell from him. It was not like him to pass one and she frowned when he did so, a deep seated blush rose to her pale features as well. As often as people tried to give them to her, she still found it hard to imagine that she was thought of as pretty or nice in any way shape of form. All she ever saw when she looked in the mirror was the pale grey skin, the strange amber eyes and her deep red hair. At times she appeared more gaunt than usual but no matter what she wore or attempted to do with her hair or make-up she always thought she came up much shorter than her friends in the looks department. It never bothered her either though, she had other things that occupied her brain other than the importance that some placed on looks.

"Thanks" she shrugged blinking a moment to regain her equilibrium before flicking her wand and cast the stretching jinx at him
She grinned effectively at him as the bolt flared from her wand and shot towards Ruki.

Paying little attention to anything coming from Andromeda, other than incantations and wand flicks, Rukevra never flinched as his friend muttered thanks. If he had, it would have likely held consequences; as seconds later, a new spell was sent hurtling towards him. A little quicker to react now that he had managed to settle in to the dual, the young wizard flicked his own wand and deflected the spell into the bushes to the side. Not having intended it to, the bush began to smoulder from the bolt; before catching fire.

Hoping to be able to use the little change to their surroundings as a distraction, Rukevra aimed towards Andromeda and fired off the fur growing spell. It might be rather funny to see her all hairy.

Andromeda watched as the spell seemed easily deflected and for a moment distracted by the burning bush she was too late to protect herself from his next spell. At first she thought nothing at all was going to happen but slowly she felt the tingle all over her body. It wasn't like the times of the full moon when her entire form actually changed, this was simply just coarse fur sprouting on her skin. The funny thing was it was still the same as when she did change, the same shade of deep red. Her clothing felt uncomfortable on her now as the fur pushed against it and yet as easily as it was for her to remove the spell she was entranced by the fur.

She had never thought to see herself this hairy when it wasn't a full moon and it startled her and humored her all at once. Eventually she did snap out of it and brushing her wand over herself she cancelled the spell. Looking down at Ruki she was so tempted to use the imperius curse on him but knew the repercussions of that one. As she flicked her wand out from herself to point at Ruki the first spell that came to mind was the permanent sticking charm. After uttering the incantation she gasped aloud, as within seconds she was being hurdled towards Rukevra and stuck to him. At first she was shocked, as the two Gryffindors were face to face, their bodies clung together and then she laughed as if she could do nothing else. She attempted to wiggle her way out but remembered it was the permanent sticking charm after all and she had always been great at it. In between her laughter she managed to speak.
"You'll... have.. to.. rever... se this ...one" before another bout of laughter took over.

As hoped, the small bush fire caused a momentary distraction in his opponent ; causing her to be struck by the spell. It became something of an interesting display to watch. The young wizard hadn't really seen anything sprout fur this fast before, let alone another human being. It never occurred to him the types of creatures that would undergo this type of change. After some time, and seemingly after her own trance, Andromeda reversed the effects of the spell; before attacking once more. Fully ready for anything she could send at him now, the fellow Gryffindor steadied his wand hand; and was about to cancel the spell mid-flight until, rather suddenly, Andromeda rushed towards him. Before he had a second to react and move, the young wizard found himself stuck to his friend.

Completely taken by surprise, it took a few seconds to attempt to pull away from the girl. But as he tried to move, he went nowhere. Face to face with the red-head, the young wizard listened as Andromeda broke in to laughter once more. A sound that was becoming better each time he heard it. Feeling movement, Rukevra watched as his friend attempted to wiggle free; before starting to laugh himself. It was a strange predicament they where in. Catching staggered words, the young wizard looked slightly confused. He had never used the charm before, so had no idea hat the reversal was; nor if Finite would just be enough. As Andromeda laughed harder, Rukevra attempted to figure out what to do. They couldn't just stay that way. Could they. Still laughing himself, the young wizard tried to focus on an incantation which came to him. He hadn't realised what it was until he felt himself fall; with Andromeda still stuck to him. The trip jinx was definitely not the correct spell to cast.

Andy's bout of laughter seemed unrelenting and it was thankful that it was so because the moment she stopped she would realize just how closely they were pressed against one another. With her one hand pressed to his shoulders she roared again with laughter as they fell over, unable to tell him until it was too late that the trip jinx was definitely not what she was hoping for. As the landed abruptly on the ground, the jolt caused her to release her hands and place them on either side of Ruki's head as they landed. Her wand fallen and also rolled out of her grasp but that was the least of her worries as she finally paused a moment in her barrel of laughter and realized she was actually lying on top of him and any squirming she might do could seriously upset them both.

With a gulp she wished she had worn more than just a ti-shirt but was glad at least for the jeans instead of her school skirt. There was no other place for her face to go than to look at directly at him. She could see every facet of his features and wondered how she had never really noticed before how good looking he was. Her eyes widened and she gulped once more.
"Ehm Ruki why didn't you just do the finite spell, you do know the sticking spell don't you?" his not knowing the spell of course would be the only reason she could think of that he hadn't used 'finite' on them; she felt breathless as she stared down at him, it was then the glint of her wand caught her eye and she sighed.

"We're going to have to roll over so I can reach my wand to get us out of this mess" she grinned, "not exactly how I usually end up during a dual."
Willing herself to make light of the situation she seriously hoped Crispin didn't walk through the gardens at that moment.

Hitting the ground with a rather awkward thud, Ruki let out a muffled "Oompfh.". The sound of laughter from Andromeda was causing him to see the very funny side to the whole situation. After a moment, the young wizard realised just what the pair must look like to anyone who could pass by. Himself on his back, and Andromeda on top of him was not a good combination. Especially with the way gossip spread through the school. Shaking any worry away, the fifth year listened to his friend speak; who he noticed now held her face only inches away from his. "My apologies. We haven't covered it in a lesson, have we?". It was possible though, that the spell was from the advanced sections in the text-books.

As the young girl spoke again, Ruki finally started to act a little more serious. They had to un-stick themselves somehow, and it seemed as if his friend knew what she was doing more than he did. "Rolling? Okay, I'll push and you.. you move to the same side?". It seemed to Ruki that whatever they tried, it would fail spectacularly. "How do you usually end up during a dual?", the young wizard was slightly intrigued; although it may not have been the time to ask.
