PERSONALITY: Violette is very timid and shy, she often observes a situation before doing anything, and is a little calculating. Despite being shy, she's not a complete doormat. When things are unfair, Violette can take a stand for something. But this is fairly rare. She is more likely to remove herself from a situation, maybe alerting a person of authority if she feels like something is wrong.

Violette is a dreamer, mostly dreaming of travels and adventures far away. Truthfully, she doesn't see herself settling down in New Zealand after Hogwarts. She wants to see the world, though she doesn't actually know what she wants to do on her travels. She has very little ambition for her future,she just knows that the one her father picked out for her isn't what she wants. Violette prefers reading about adventures and daydreaming to actually undertaking anything herself for now, though she might occasionally try to be a bit more daring if she feels more ease somewhere. Violette most often does what is asked of her, though when she feels like she can get away with it, she does try to avoid it. Her father wants her to be a lot more social than she is, and Violette is not above pretending she talked to someone her own age if it gets him off her back a for a bit. She is plays cello, something her parents encouraged. Violette most enjoys sitting in nature and reading a book that sweeps her away. She would rather do this than practice cello.

HISTORY: Violette is the second daughter of Vincent and Camille Holland. Her older sister is Grace Holland, who teaches flying at Hogwarts NZ at the moment. Violette and Grace have an age gap of 13 years, which caused them not to be very close. As Violette grew up, her sister was already at Beauxbatons, only home for the holidays. When Violette grew older, Grace started playing Quidditch professionally before moving to New Zealand to teach. In many ways, Violette feels like she's an only child, as her sister is almost a stranger to her.

Violette's parents have high expectations of their children, especially Vincent. In his eyes, the only worthwhile career for wizards is at the Ministry, and everything else is lesser. He was not pleased with Grace's choice of career, though teaching is slightly better than playing Quidditch. Still, he is unhappy with his older daughter's choice of future, and has pinned all his hopes on the younger one now. He himself works at the French Ministry of Magic, but hasn't climbed as high as he wanted to. With his brother now married to the Minister of Magic in New Zealand, Vincent sees this as an opportunity for his branch of the family to do better as well. With Grace already living in New Zealand, Vincent and his wife decided that Violette should go to school in New Zealand, where her last name has a lot more influence than it has in France. He hopes for her to get into the Ministry after school, and make connections while in Hogwarts to grow there fast.

First Year

"I didn't want to go to Hogwarts, as I had always hoped to go to Beauxbatons like my parents and sister, but I know my father knows what is best. I found my first year at Hogwarts a little difficult. It was hard to talk to other people, and I often felt a little alone. But I did make a few friends. I'm grateful for Delilah, Sawyer, and Brooke. My grades weren't as good as my father would want, so I have to work harder next year."​

Violette had a difficult first year at Hogwarts, being shy and nervous made it hard for her to make many friends. The Ravenclaw was immediately overwhelmed by her busy dormitory, and didn't connect to many of the girls she shared a room with. The exception to that was Delilah Thorne, who she grew closer to over the year. Violette attended different Hogwarts events, but mostly stayed on the sidelines to watch. She didn't participate in much yet, but is sure her father will encourage her to join some clubs next year.

Violette stayed near the back of the group as they filtered into the great hall, making sure she had a good vantage point of the great hall and everything happening there. She spotted Grace at the staff table, and after some searching of the crowd, saw a few of her cousins as well. Diana and Alice were the good cousins, the ones she should be close to according to her dad. He also told her in no uncertain terms to avoid the boys, Eric and Connor. She had to admit she was a little curious about them, but knew that word about her talking to them couldn't get back to her father. He would be livid. She also heard that they were not nice, which meant Violette shouldn't be around them regardless.

She focused her attention on the hat as it started to sing. She listened quietly, though she had been told about the different houses already by her sister. Violette had no idea what would suit her. If she was honest, none of it really sounded like her. A part of her wished she was at Beauxbatons like Grace had been, there she wouldn't have had to deal with being judged by her personality like this. But she could admit Hogwarts looked very wonderful, and it did feel like an adventure to be on the other side of the world. She had tried to tell herself that, that she was at least traveling and seeing more of the world... but Violette couldn't ignore that it wasn't by her own choice. Her father had decided to send her off, so here she was. She was burdening her sister by staying with her and her boyfriend before coming here, and now she would be watched by her as well. She knew Grace and her dad didn't always get along, but she could only imagine their father would ask Grace for updates on her education often enough. The feeling made her feel more trapped than she already had. Everyone here knew her last name, would that mean they would expect certain things of her? She knew Alice was a prefect... but she couldn't imagine even talking to half the students here. Violette felt faintly dizzy and almost missed it when her name was called. Did she imagine it, or did people look up at the sound of her last name? Were they wondering if she was related to the Minister? Sharply and suddenly, Violette resented her father for forcing her to come here. But there was nothing to be done, and the easiest way to get out of the spotlight was to go through and get sorted quickly so the next person had to step forward. Violette sat down on the stool quietly, her hands in her lap. She waited for the hat to call out the house would have to be in for the rest of her time here.

"It might not be Beauxbatons, but at least there's blue in RAVENCLAW!"
