Liusaidh was a bird, a blue bird. She had painstaking gotten feathers glued to her eyebrows to help finish the bird look. She had wings and she had feathers all over the place. But she needed to be sure that she was dressed properly. This was going to end up having a little competition and she always thought she should win but she had tried a little this year. She just knew that some older student with some stupid ability to magically enhance their costume was gonna win or something. Because everything at school was just weighted towards those dumb older students. She could at least squack in the faces of people who annoyed her today. She was a bird, just playing her role as a bird. She could be a good bird. She headed into the great hall, immediately looking for someone or something that she could do that would a tonne of fun.

Halloween was an interesting social event. Much like the other school dances, clothing was very important, but Halloween seemed to play by completely different rules. Brooke still wasn't sure she wanted to lean into the truly frightening side of the holiday when it came to dressing up, but she did appreciate some of the impressive uses of magic some of the students managed to come up with. One year she'd have to put some serious work into an impressive costume, even if she had to teach herself.

Circling the hall, Brooke spotted her roommate, sparing a moment to decide if she actually wanted to talk to her before moving over to say hi as she looked over Liusaidh's rather interesting costume this year. "Liusaidh, you're looking impressive tonight," Brooke said, picking up a feather that had come loose and looking at it curiously. "Though I think you're molting," She added with a small smile. "I feel like you should be handing out canary creams or something." It was a joke, but Brooke wouldn't put it past Liusaidh to pull something like that just to cause trouble.

After not daring to go to Halloween last year, Violette prepared this year. She had even gone shopping for a costume with her mother, which had been one of the highlights of her break as it was one of the few times her parents hadn't been too busy to spend time with her. And now, she was dressed up as a princess as she walked into the Great Hall. She held the skirt of her dress up a little so she wouldn't step on it, and looked around. The hall was decorated beautifully, but it was a little overwhelming too. Especially with all the other students around. Violette was relieved to spot Brooke in the crowd, and immediately headed over to the familiar face. "Brooke, hello." She said, letting go of her skirt to wave at the other girl. Only then did she realize that the bird she had been talking to was Liusaidh, and Violette regretted heading over a little. The Slytherin was kind of terrifying. "Oh, uh, hi... Liusaidh..." She added.

Liusaidh looked at Brooke and gave an excited smile, "Thanks Brooke!" she didn't return the compliment to the girl, she wasn't sure what the girl was meant to be, but it seemed pretty lame and stuffy to Liusaidh, who at least in her feathery costume had a lot of ability to jump about. "Funny ye should mention it, ah've got special bertie botts, they're fae back home, and they're like canary creams. Dae ye want one?" Liusaidh from one of the pockets of the outfit, magically enhanced to be bigger than it appeared, pulled out her bag of horrible, all bad bertie botts every flavour beans. She held it out to Brooke, and then glanced at the other girl, "Ah, fight girl!" she didn't know this other girl's name, but twice she'd been right where Liusaidh and Rosenberg were having at it. "Ye want a bean, they're like canary creams, they'll make ye a bird fae like a couple ae minutes?" she was lying but these people maybe wouldn't notice.

Violette joined them as well and Brooke briefly wondered about Liusaidh's odd choice of nickname for her. "Violette, you look very sweet," Brooke said politely, wondering if Violette's apparently discomfort was just her normal mousey-ness or if she perhaps rightfully wary of Liusaidh. Truth be told, Brooke did her best to keep her distance from her dormmate when possible; Trouble seemed to follow Liusaidh everywhere, and Brooke doubted it was just bad luck, but she didn't need anyone thinking she was purposely avoiding her peers for any reason. Especially not someone as outspoken as Liusaidh. "Oh wow, I didn't know they could do that charm on beans as well, thank you," Brooke said, hesitantly taking one with a nod of thanks. She was weighing the pros and cons of eating anything given to her by Liusaidh, turning to Violette instead. "You should try one too, Violette," She said brightly.

As Brooke complimented her costume, Violette smiled shyly and thanked her quietly. She blinked as Liusaidh called her fight girl. She hesitated. "It's Violette." She muttered, not sure what the girl was referencing. She was pretty sure she had never been in a fight, unlike the redhead. "No thanks." She added quickly. "I'm not uh, hungry." She said, taking a small step back. While she usually was easy to convince, she really did not want to turn into a bird in the middle of the feast. She was surprised Brooke had taken one.

"Aye sure," she said in response to Violette correcting her about her name, Liusaidh was rather indiffernt to what her name was, and was actually sure that this was the first time she had actually heard it. Liusaidh gave a smile as Brooke took one, "Course, there's so much ye can dae wae magic," she replied, keeping up her lie and trying to sound as if it was obvious that magic could do anything. "Are ye sure Violetta? Ye're missin' out," she kept the bag of bad flavoured beans opened and help them towards brooke, since she was the only one who had agreed to eating one.

Brooke was a little dubious of Liusaidh's insistence over the beans. It seemed unlikely to her that they really did what Liusaidh said, but Brooke doubted they were really dangerous or anything. And she didn't need to have Liusaidh thinking Brooke was overly cautious or untrusting. Violette didn't seem to have the same reservations, meekly declining. Shrugging, Brooke popped the bean in her mouth, her face screwing up as she chewed it and tasted something vile, like old fish. "Oh that is foul, Liusaidh," She said, barely concealing a gagging sound behind her hand. "I guess Violette had the right idea," She managed, barely managed to swallow down the chewed up bean since spitting it out would be just as disgusting and trying to eat it.
