Raymond Mandy was tired. Lately, exhaustion was not a feeling to him. It was a state of being. Raymond tried and tried to find the reverence for magic he started with his first year. However, this was proving easier to think about than to actually do. Raymond sat against the wall with his wand in his hand. It was average in length, and it was made from Ivy. Ivy wood was good with social wizards, people who enjoyed being around others. Raymond did enjoy the company of others. He found himself to be more quiet and observant than most. "Lumos." he said and a bright light appeared at the end of his wand. It was midday, so there was no need for light. But, he felt warmth smooth over him. He loved this, the light at the the end of his wand. It brought him a type of joy he had forgotten about.

Archie was on his way up to the brotherhood room after a light lunch when he saw a student cast Lumos in the middle of the hallway. It was out of place considering it was midday and sunlight was shining through all the windows. Archie did not understand why someone would cast a light spell when the area around them was already light, so he raised his eyebrow curiously and approached the boy. "Why cast Lumos in the middle of the day?" He asked. "Are you blind, or what?" The question could easily be misconstrued as rude but being as impulsive as he was with no sense of forward thinking he of course did not consider it as an option. As he waited for a response he rolled back and forward on his feet and held his hands behind his back.

Raymond looked at the light emitting from his wand. Although it was bright outside, the light still shined bright, as if it was casting away darkness. The sixth year looked up as a student approached him. He looked familiar because of classes, but he did not bother learning the names of his peers. Raymond's face went from pleasant to one of disgust. "How about you take a step back and try that sh!t again." he snapped at the guy. Who did he think he was to just ride up on him like that? It was rude for one. Secondly, how did he not see the beauty in such a simple spell? "I may not be blind, but you clearly are if you don't see how interesting such a spell is." he continued and stood up. What a dense dud this dude was.

Archie never bothered second guessing himself and any of the things he did. He also never bothered to have ill intentions without a good enough reason and was surprised to the core when his questions were interpreted that way. He held his hands up defensively, saying "Hey, I was just curious why you were casting the spell." to explain himself. "It's a first year spell and you're casting it in the middle of the day. There's already light here? It's not like you need more light to see?" His words sounded like a question because he did not understand why his words to the other boy were such a problem and because he hoped the boy could answer the questions for him, partially explaining to him what the problem was in simply asking a few questions. Archie somewhat recognized the other boy from his classes but was too focused on defending himself and understanding what was happening in that moment to give it further thought.

Raymond rolled his eyes at the boy's defense. It was weak, and it lacked real substance. Curiosity was not enough of a reason to ask rude question. Why was his spell casting so interesting to this guy? Raymond sighed. "Is this your way of worrying about someone? If so, then your technique needs a lot of practice because right now you are coming off as an inconsiderate jack@ass." he retaliated calmly. Raymond was not the most considerate or friendly guy, but he did know the basics of asking questions properly. He did not always decide to do so, but he was not the problem right now. He was not normally so sensitive about how people approached him. But, Raymond continued to breath and waited for his peer to respond.

"Oh. I'm not worried about you at all." Archie said confidently. He was growing increasingly bothered by the other guy's presence and the fact his question about the spell was still not properly answered on top of being confused to what the problem was in the first place. "To worry about you I would need to now who you are and care a little bit but I only really care about the spell. Sorry." In Archie's eyes he was being honest and nothing more, but with his luck his words were due to be misheard all over again. He took a step away from the other boy to try and avoid that happenstance. "As for inconsiderate, you wouldn't be totally wrong." He added, shrugging as he smiled to try and lighten what was turning into a worse situation by the minute.

Raymond raised an eyebrow at his peer's response. He crossed his arms over his chest, wand still in hand. He listened to the guy's reasoning and sighed. "You do care because you took time out your day to f**king bother me." he stated. The guy he stood in front of may not understand that, but he did care. If he didn't, he would have kept stepping. The guy was trying to lighten the mood, but Raymond was enjoying this far to much. He took his wand and pointed at the boy's face, close enough to his nose, and onlooker would think that it was touching him. He cast lumos with a flick of his wand. The tip of his wand lit up with extreme intensity and an almost blinding brightness.

Archie was about to open his mouth to respond when his movements were stopped dead by the boy pointing his wand directly at his nose. It wasn't close enough to touch his face but it kept Archie's instincts in check. He stepped back to try and avoid whatever the boy had planned but realized his movements were too slow when a flash of light nearly blinded him. In the commotion he almost fell over but managed to regain his footing as he brought his forearm in front of his eyes and shouted "What is wrong with you!?" as loudly as he could. All Archie did was ask a question, he never expected it to lead to the other guy trying to turn him blind with a first year spell. That moment was almost as unexpected and illogical as the moment Chaos Zhefarovich punched him in the face during his third year and Archie couldn't do anything but wince and hope his vision would recover enough for him to walk away from the increasingly weird situation.

Raymond, with his 20/20 eyes, had to look away due to the brightness of the light. He gave his want a slight wave and the light went away. His peer seemed to be pretty stunned at his actions, but Raymond was pleased with himself. His magical education had come to a bit of a halt because he was so unfocused. He had not been so bad at the start, but his enthusiasm deteriorated as classes got harder and, therefore, less interesting. "Don't you think you are exaggerating a bit? I mean, it is only a first year spell." he spoke in a mocking tone. Raymond did think his actions were a bit unnecessary, but he was still very entertained.
