Closed Turned Inside Out

By all logic, Connor should be crying. He knew he should, but instead he felt numb, emptiness buzzing and echoing all through him. Through the last few, horrible years, connecting with his father had been one of the only things keeping him going. His life may have fallen apart, but he had a dad, for the first time since he was too young to remember. Sure he didn't have much time for them, but... but apparently that had been a facade. Something about Eric crying made it even harder to feel anything - this whole situation was so backwards, it had stopped feeling real. "It's not your fault." Connor's voice sounded far away somehow, as though he wasn't the one speaking. He pulled Eric closer, nestling his older brother's head on his shoulder. "It's not - you tried."
