Landon was always happy to be back for a brand new year, and his utmost responsibility was always to look after his students, and not just the Hufflepuffs. He did feel responsible for many of them, especially his daughters, and it saddened him to see some of his students not making any friends. One student in particular was his niece’s daughter, Violet. He hadn’t seen her hang around with others very much during the past two years and he was wondering why that was the case. His curiosity always got the better of him, and he couldn’t help but want to approach her about it and try and offer a helping hand where he could. When Landon saw Violet by herself at the Ravenclaw table during breakfast time, he wandered over there and smiled at her. “Hey Violet!” he exclaimed with a small wave. He wanted to try and be as casual as he could. “How was your break?”

Violet wasn’t too thrilled about going back to school, however at least she had one more year before her sisters would join her. She would just make the most of the peaceful moments until they did come, and try her best to avoid Lumos where she could. As she sat in the Great Hall staring at her scrambled eggs, she was startled by the sight of a familiar face talking to her. “Hello, professor.” she said, a little monotone. It was much too early to match his energy. Violet raised an eyebrow at his question. Who was he to care? Did he think that because they were distantly related, he could stick his nose into her life? “Good, I guess.” she shrugged, before turning back to her breakfast. She hoped he would get the hint.

Landon was glad that Violet seemed to be okay to talk to him, and he took this as an invitation to sit down beside her. She wasn’t telling him to go away, and that was the main thing. “You wouldn’t mind if I had breakfast with you, would you?” he asked, beginning to place some toast onto the plate in front of him. He truthfully didn’t care if she said no, as he really wanted to catch up with her, and he felt as though she needed the company. “Have you been able to make many friends here?” He tried his best to sound casual, as though it was just a way to start a conversation.

Violet stayed silent as the professor sat down beside her. She really didn’t want him to, however he was already putting food onto his plate, so it was obvious that he didn’t care what she wanted. At his next question, Violet couldn’t help but roll her eyes, and just kept looking at the food on her plate. “Yep, sure.” she muttered, willing to say whatever she could to get the man to leave. She knew she wanted to make friends, however was just having a hard time getting people to like her. But she didn’t need the help of a professor. The Ravenclaw started eating some more of her breakfast, mostly as an excuse to not say much else.
