Transfiguration 7:3

Professor Lyra Potter quickly moved the desks to the side of the room, in a line on each side facing the walls. She transfigured them into a row of vanity mirrors with the large lights on the top of them. Satisfied with her work, she waited patiently for the class to arrive. Once they were all in, and looking a bit confused, she grinned at them before getting the lesson started. "Find a seat at a mirror. Any one will do. I want to give you plenty of time to practice today."

Once they were all seated, she got right to work. "Today we will be working on some human transfiguration. You will work with your ears, transfiguring them into the ears of an animal. Once you master this spell, you will be able to transfigure your ears, or others, into any form needed. Just a bit of warning though," she paused, watching all their eyes turn to her. "This type of transfiguration is not legal to do on someone who is not expecting it. Yes, it is a cute prank, I'll give you that, BUT, you don't want to test the limits of this spell and wind up in Azkaban. Be careful using it on anyone other than yourself." She said, giving them all a serious look.

"Now, human transfiguration is more difficult and complex. It will take all your concentration. With enough practice, you will be able to cast this non-verbally, but for now, its much easier for you to do as a verbal spell. The standard three tap method will be used. The spell is Auris. This will be used for all ear transfigurations. Let me demonstrate." Professor Potter quickly raised her wand to her head and tapped. "Auris." Her ears turned into those of a goat. Again she tapped her wand, and they became rabbits ears. One last time, and they looked like those of a pig. Restoring her ears to her own, she smiled at her class. "Your turn. Do not forget that you must concentrate or there will be problems. I will be around to help you with any problems that might arise."

With a smile, she let the students get to work.

Homework: RP the lesson. One successful transfiguration will earn you an O. Have fun!

Hinata hadn't really thought about human transfiguration much since she didn't like it as a punishment nor was she aiming to be an animagus. She was no metamorphagus either. Still, that was today's lesson so she practiced until she got it right. On one try, she finally did. "Auris," and her ears were replaced with cat ears. It was unnerving and she wasn't sure she liked it. It was a thought for another time.

The mirror on her desk when she arrived for Transfiguration suggested to Bailey that they would be casting something on themselves. Human transfiguration was a pretty daunting concept given the potential to go wrong, but Bailey was confident in her ability to get it right. She hoped. Bailey listened to her aunt explain the spell, how to do it, how not to do it and the fun detail that it was illegal to use on someone else. Good to know. Bailey took out her wand and got to work once they were given the go-ahead. She thought about the physical transformation that would happen when she cast the spell, and she thought about it hard, knowing she would need to. “Auris,” She said quietly, but with her trademark confidence. After a couple of unsuccessful attempts, her ears finally turned into rabbit ears. It was a very unsettling image and one she quickly had Aunt Lyra reverse. Once the lesson was over, she packed up and left the classroom.

Horror Zhefarovich entered the Transfiguration classroom and sat down in his seat with a mirror. They were going to do some human transfiguration spells, on themselves. Definitely cannot use it on someone else without their permission. They were shown how to do it, so he thought over what sort of ears he could. Horror thought that cat might be easiest so he did that. After a couple of tries, he managed to give himself cat ears, and then revert them back. He did not know what the deal with this was, or the point rather, but at least he got it done and over with. He hated spells like these.

Mikael went to class, single brow raised at the sight of the mirrors. He sat in front of one as instructed and listened idly to the professor's lecture and watched the demonstration. Human transfiguration was quite fascinating in his opinion, though he wasn't nearly as interested in the subject enough to pursue the study any further than he was. Still when it was time to perform the spell, he did it a couple of times. It was during his fourth try—"Auris," he intoned—that he succeeded, a pair of wolf ears now sat on his head.
